What are you going to be playing ESO on after the console launch?

HeroStomp13
I am going to be playing on the PS4 exclusively after the console launch but was curious to see what other people are going to be playing on. I am hoping to be able to purchase a character transfer as I wasn't able to join before the deadline, it may be possible if the demand becomes great enough.

Well since MMOs have been out for a bit on consoles... not like this is the first one on them.

But I plan on switching to console more because all my friends will be on that platform, and they don't want to spend the money on a PC/Laptop that can play these type of games. And since ZOS said it won't be cross-platform, I will be switching so I can join them.

And why not on a PS4?
Consoles have reached a mid gaming PC.
Controller even has a touch pad like a laptop with clickable areas,
    scrolling and gestures.
I will be playing on both PC and PS4.

    What's wrong with that?

Because games like MMORPGS are made for computers. It ruins it for everyone when you have to dumb it down to the limited capability of a console, which is what happened to this game.

What got limited? Because most people say it is the ability bar on having 5 +1 ult on it. But most fail to realize games like FFXIV RR use more abilities while still using a controller.

Still it is a strong one for me.

Also, mouse aiming is never overrated. I have nothing against couch console players until it's not merged to cross-platform. Trust me, It's not fun to play with players who screw their job, because of tight hands problem. And in FF it was the greatest issue (next to non-eu servers).

I do like ESO and fingers crossed they will gather enough $$$ from console sales to polish up their product (coz there is still plenty work to be done). It has a great potential and hope they will catch much more audience by console port release.

Certain types of games are made for, or better on, PC. Some are better suited for consoles. First person shooters, for example, came out on PC first and are much more accurate with a keyboard and mouse. On the other hand, I'd love to be able to play Gran Turismo on my PC, but its better suited for (and only developed for) a console.

the game starts stumbling on pc beeing a year old [wich out perform any current console significantly] when facing 40+ players i do not want to guess how horrible it´ll be to play it on a console in that situation - its not a miricle why the console release has been delayed...
btw is there any console game with more than 60 players in one spot?

Look at the horrible UI we have in this game. Why do you think you have to choose a potion before being able to use it instead of having a bar for potions? Why do you think that the guild stores search sucks so much? Why do we only have 5 skills? Yeah yeah the 5+1 skills it was "planed" since the begining. Snip please... I work in development, you don't invent a system and then see how you can make it work on target platforms, you see what platforms you're developing for and then you build your system so it can run on the platforms. As soon as you know you're porting on a console with a game pad, you know that you can't have 18 buttons to use skills & consumables and you build your game system accordingly. I'm not saying the system is bad, but It's obvious it was designed like that because of consoles.

When the user interface is the same for the PC as for the consoles, it ruins the game experience for PC players... And it's an aberration to port MMORPGs as well as FPS to consoles because the game pads don't allow the same level of precision than a mouse does. At equal skill, a pc player will beat any console player any time of the day.

I have the character transfer option available. I'm not sure how they can incorporate addons to the console, so unless they improve the UI for console by including some of the addons I won't be using it.

EDIT: I use an xbox pad to play and have a tough time configuring it to include all the actions I'd like. Even with binding multiple keys to one button I still end up with my keyboard performing some of the key remaining functions.

I'm not really sure how they will solve this.

nope in early beta videos the ui was a complete classic ui with multiple 10slot qb minimap name plates and all the usefull gimmicks missing in this rubish ui now...

I loathe people who say that an MMO can't be done on a console. Reminds me of all those people who used to say that a good FPS could never be done on a console--right before Halo came out.

First of all, I already play ESO with a gamepad and do just fine, thanks. The only thing that's really an issue is communication. And with a PS/Xbox having a built in voice chat, much of that problem could easily be solved with a little vision and creativity on the part of the designers. The problem with MMO's on consoles isn't that it can't be done, it's that so many naysayers pipe in with the standard "It can't be done."

It always can't be done--right up until a creative visionary comes along and does it.

Whether ZOS are those visionaries or not remains to be seen (probably not, but you never know). But someone will eventually come along and do an MMO that doesn't just try to do a straight PC-to-console port, one that leverages the console's *strengths* (such as built-in voice chat, standardized hardware, very stable and standardized software, etc.).

Imagine an MMO with optional proximity voice (complete with options to set the level of proximity), default team/group chat, a default voice chat channel for guilds--all with tons of options to adjust it to your liking. "I want to hear other players within 10 ft. of me, trade and guild chat (but only when I select to listen to those channels), and any members of my group if I'm in one. Sounds like an annoyance to some, but do it right and people will end up wondering how anyone ever played an MMO with just primitive keyboard chat.

And that's just ONE simple idea for what you could easily do with a console MMO that would be difficult to do with a PC MMO, since PC's don't even have a voice chat standard.

In another thread I asked about controller support and I got a reply from one of the ZOS guys that it's in the pipeline. No deadline of course.
I'll be curious about playing it with a controller, if it doesn't work, back to the old
