There should be a Lottery

I was thinking, with all the expensive things to buy (such as horses) we should have a lottery system that is drawn every week.

The price of a ticket can be 30 gold, and it's tied to your actual account and not the character (to prevent bots and hacks from making a bagillion accounts just to cheat)

At the end of the Tamriel week, the lottery is drawn and the winners receive...

1st place = 100,000 gold
2nd place = 50,000
3rd place = 25,000

This will make it more interesting for us, so if this is used, we can buy our tickets and hope to win!

To prevent cheaters from finding a loophole, make it so if you win, you can't buy another ticket for a month. Don't be a scrooge, let others have a chance!

What do you say? Should we have a lottery system in-game?

what happens if only 5 people buy a ticket? Still get 100k? What if 500k people play, still get 100k. Or does it scale with the number of players.

What if someone doesnt login to claim thier winnings. Goes to the next person or just goes to the non playing account that hasnt logged in in weeks but is still active?

in concept i think its kinda cool but of pretty low priority as its really doesnt bring much to the table and implementation has its issues.

Seems like a good candidate for player organization if anything.

Of course that's open to corruption. But all the best things in life are. ;)

I'd prefer to see an end game quest reward of a horse. While I don't play a game just for loot, it can make it more exciting if you get something worthwhile. Like a lot of players I have the Imperial Edition so having a horse isn't an issue for me but for some it can be an expensive investment and I think there should be a way other than forking out heaps of gold for one. I know it's a gold sink and can stay that way for people who want one early on but as an quest reward, perhaps in Coldharbour it would give some players a horse for an alt so they didn't have to pay over again :)

Shadowmare with the Assassin's missions they are planning on implementing would be awesome. That would be an end game horse reward worth chasing.

What if it was like a raffle? Like you where saying, the more people that play the more the "jackpot" is.

If they did implement something like a lottery , it would have to be within the bounds of lore. And even then, there's no way it would be for the amounts you listed. Maybe 20k, 10k, 5k. Even so, it's not gonna happen.

    I got nothing with this.

Might it be cool if there were some gambling establishments, bookies taking bets on arena combat etc...sure. Could be cool. (please no reboots of Imperial arena from Oblivion...could bring back the fan though. I do so like to see him fly.)

You can do it in your guilds. eg 500g/ticket. Player can buy as many tickets as he/she wants. Half of all money will get the winner. and another half stay in guild for kiosk or something else.
All I want to say, IMO we dont need in-game lotery. If you want it, create lotery guild.

My guild discussed doing this, but it is difficult without a random number generator in game. People will complain about it being a fix etc unless it can be made transparent.

Unless there is some kind of in-game reward , what's the use? Custom gear to buy but sadly I'd settle for dunmer courtesans and lots of moon sugar to lick out of their pointy ears. One reason why I don't RL gamble in any form.
