Vampire's Hunter - Bow or Fire Staff

I am building a Templar to hunt vampires in PVP since I read they are a big problem. What will be the ideal weapon Bow, Destruction Staff (Fire) or other? I am also not sure about the Silver Bolts' morphs. I am thinking Silver Leash for focusing fire but I read it is broken. I will also morph Templar's Sun Fire into Vampire's Bane and take the Fighter's Guild ultimate. Anything else I need to be a competent vampire's hunter. Do I need to become a vampire myself to hunt them better? I am only interested in PVP. I appreciate the advise of any experienced PVP player since I am still low level.

I probably won't be much help, but what are people saying is broken about Silver Leash? I have that ability and it works fine on Undead/Daedra NPC's, knocking down and pulling to me. Deals great single target damage and has very nice CC adding onto it. I have not tried it on Vampire players yet so maybe it is broken in PvP rather than PvE? Still a great ability for damage alone. It is a bit stamina intensive though. Costs the same amount of stamina to shoot as it does to pull back so you use stamina twice for it, but also does damage and cc both ways.

I read that Silver Leash would not pull target unless the target got knocked down (so only works on undead, etc.) but maybe that is intentional. How long does you have to wait or how long do you have to activate pull? Probably better to wait as long as possible after initial knockdown to get the most out of first CC, right?

Yes it only works on undead/daedra. Vampires are included in this.

I'd say you have around 6 seconds to activate it again to still be able to pull them to you. I feel like it is a long time because you can knock them down and they can get up and you still have the option to pull even after the knockdown has passed. So yes, let the knockdown run its course then pull afterwards. It is a fun ability.

As far as the topic title, the Heavy Attack from destruction staff is superior to any fire bow proc you'll find.

well there is a fighters guild passive that causes fighters guild skills to affect werewolves so if you get that silver leash should also affect them as well as undead and daedra

When used properly, turn undead is extremely effective against vamps. It will shut down their bat spam like nothing else...

And as you have probably noticed, there are so many vampires in pvp that you can assume about every other enemy is one.

    Except it doesn't.

I use all these abilities against vampires, and none really work.

Vamps are untargettable most of the time, and there is so much cc immunity that the fighters guild line anti undead control powers end up being fairly useless.

Camouflage Hunter & Lethal Arrow-- One shot-- if they survive Silver Shards.

I go bow from a stealthed position and specialize in killing vamps.

** be sure to unlock all the fighters guild & bow passives

You are doing it wrong then. You can't expect to use turn undead once and have it win the fight for you. When those vamps charge into your group, start moving towards them and use it every time you get close. No need to target, which is why I prefer this over silver bolts, and the additional resistance will make that bat swarm hit you much more softly, giving you time to keep using turn undead. I have it on my restoration staff bar, so I heal in between turn undeads.

I've been killed by the usual vampire aoes only a few times since I started employing this strategy. If it doesn't suit you, don't use it, but you are incorrect to say it isn't effective.
