We need Zenimax to tell us how this works.

What, exactly, puts us in combat?

That way we can see when it bugs and make a bug report.

SO YOU PEOPLE CAN FIX THIS RUBBISH ASPECT OF THE GAME.

    A nearby mob that has Aggro'd on you is the only thing I know of.

    What I think can happen is something gets spawned below the ground so you can't interact with it, but it's aggro'd on you. I have seen this a couple of times in the game. Fortunately, they were not like that when I went back after a logout.
    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    This totally explains why I'm stuck in combat after a pvp death and spawning back at our home keep at the bottom of the map.

    I often get stuck in combat in public dungeons. Like, to the point where in Village of the Lost every time I enter a fight, I'm stuck till I die or quit the game.

    The worst part is you can't even logout to get out of combat because you're in freaking combat...

    In Cyrodiil it seems if you have healing dots on someone you are "in combat". Happens to me on my sorc when healing. Sometimes I run 2/3 of the way from one castle to the next before I am no longer in combat. Surly my healing dots have expired? What gives ZOS?

    I think it's something deeper than that. Could be something like "Out of combat" packet gets lost in the network or something along that lines. (I'm not a network expert or anything)

    I noticed last night when grouping in a Pug, that if any members of my group are in battle, I can open up the map and teleport away (I needed to make a run to the bank farming the Zombie Road fills you up quickly) I had to run across the map far enough to be "out of zone" with them, then I could zap to the bank, then come back again.
    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
