You already have a horse in your back pocket.
Now you want to lug around a boat, too?
    ;)

Do you realize how much extra design work the devs would have to do to make all those unreachable areas complete and explorable if you had a boat to get around the slaughterfish?

They'd need to design and implement Kracken at the very least to take your boat down, and there goes most of the fun of a boat.

    Just sayin'....

    Edit: Speeling.

The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

Boats have always been static in Elder Scrolls games.

It doesn't mean it have to stay that way.

But it would need a huge amount of redesign to do so. It would also need to allow players to go underwater

Give us boats, in the future ;)

Boats would be amazing (along with actually being able to swim under water). Imagine sailing from Glenumbra to the Alik'r desert! Unfortunately, due to the way they designed zones, this will never be possible :(

Not to mention the slaughterfish of doom would rip your boat apart.

However, if you are looking for an awesome open world RPG with boat sailing, check out the Witcher 3. If ESO wants to compete, I suggest they copy some ideas from that game.

I would LOVE boats, and also underwater areas. Things are more fun when you can utilize the z axis as well.

UO did this thing with fishing nets where you could trawl up sea serpents and ghost ships. Sometimes you'd get a treasure map that led to your own instanced mini-zone.

Obviously, that's not going to happen, but deep sea fishing with some cool rewards would be kickass.

The fishing net thing is pretty cool. If there is enough demand, I'm sure we could make it happen eventually. If all they do is add new trials and zones, the game will die quickly. They need to add new game systems and mechanics to keep it alive.

I posted a simple idea for pretend underwater exploration that could be pretty easy to put in, check it out: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/120336/idea-for-new-swimming-mechanic

Boats would still be pretty awesome though. Imagine sailing a war boat with a party of archers around the imperial city?

Like the Legend of Zelda: Windwaker??

I liked that game, but it probably wouldn't work here, anywhere we could put them would get clogged up with people sailing, for a month or three anyway.

I am 100% behind this, I want a ship. I don't care if they have to make like 4 new zones for it. Imagine the PvP possibilities!

I want my own house to start with, but not even that is in the game yet.

Hell i also miss having a great companion to go around doing quests with like in the usual TES games , but again , no such a thing in ESO.

The three alliances engaged in naval warfare in order to seize control of Tamriel's major trade routes?

Allow guilds to purchase and customize they're own vessel?

    Bonuses that improve vendor prices.

A privateers commission for every enemy ship you sink?

With just a dash of environmental hazards like hurricanes and whirlpools (think battlefield's "levolution")?

Would totally love to see something like that for pvp.
