And puncturing sweep is a channel attack...right? So, the PvP set will help Templar to take less damage while channeling Puncturing Sweep. IMHO...

Somewhat, yes. It does force you into reinforced armor trait though which is downright horrible for light armor; you lose impenetrable on at least 2 items if you pick the rings. Effectively, what you will gain in defense due to the channeling bonus, you will lose due to not having impenetrable, and the loss is permanent while the bonus is situational.
TL; DR: Don't do it, it's a nice idea but absolutely not worth it.
