Are Trophy’s worth keeping?

So far I am using up a big chunk of inventory on one of my mules storing trophy’s gained by my playing characters during their pursuit of Molag Bal and his nasty little hobbitses.

Is this a waste of inventory?

So far all some of them do is make my character scream, or cast a nice light and are otherwise useless, unless there is going to be some future use for them, like a passport into a special area. In that some of the characteristics of the game have to be discovered I do not want to gimp myself over attempting to generate more inventory space.

I keep them. I don't know why though. I just can't force myself to delete the useless things.

Ehh, most of my trophies I just shovel into my bank where they sit gathering dust.

I like to keep them because they are nice toys to whip out and dance around with in cities from time to time, or show off to friends. Essentially, trophies are just in-game toys.
I imagine some people might get a nostalgic feeling from them because they might remind them of the quests they did to get them, but meh.

I read on the wiki somewhere that unless it's a super rare drop, like the petrified spider egg, they're basically worthless. If they're from a quest, there's no point in selling them because everyone will have one.
If it's a rare drop, then keep it or sell it for a lot of gold because it's part of a set.

Either way, trophies are just collectibles. Once you get the achievement for getting it that's pretty much all it's good for. (:

    You're confusing trophies and collectibles.

Collectibles are one-time use items (blue quality) that can be consumed to count towards one of the collectibles achievements. Trophies are permanent items (green quality) that generate a special effect on use. A very specific few trophies also offer actual in-game benefits, but the vast majority only offer cosmetic effects.

If you see a piece of meat lying on the floor of the bank, pick it up and eat it, then you can "say" to me if there are any worth keeping :-P

I currently have 180 slots in my bank, that are used as follows:

    700 Shadowhide
    700 Void Cloth
    700 Voidstone
1 stack of every crafting motif/trait material
1 stack of every rare provisioning ingredient
    Every trophy in the game
    20+ items for research

And I still have empty slots. So I'd dearly like to know what "necessary" things people are keeping in their banks that are taking up so much space.

This is a matter of opinion, is all of them worth keeping in my opnion no, I save the ones I think that do cool things, and get rid of the others, I like to collect things in game, and with limited and very expensive costs for more storage, I am a little more selective as to what I keep, and that goes for everything. :)

What is worse is the fact that some of the trophies scale with VR content. I'm not sure why they did this. Like the trophy from the sanguine public dungeon in Shadowfen. I did it on my lower EP character and my VR AD Temp. One is level 1 and the other is VR3. That is a big waste to have both (three assuming there is also a VR8 version for DC).

Most of us cannot afford that. Before you tell me that's BS, let me tell you, until you're done leveling crafting, and leveling your character to VR12+, that kind of money is impossible to come across. Based on the materials you just posted, I assume you're done everything and have nothing else to spend money on, and, you can sell mats/gear, while we have to decon and research it all.

If you like collecting things, they're great. If not, just delete them. I setup an alt just to store things like the collectible rewards so I'll have them whenever housing might happen. (You never know what will look cool in your house.) It seems that people who played Skyrim, (and Fallout), tend to collect stuff more then others.

I find some use for all of them. Especially that light we tget from Almalexia is nice as a light source in dark places but i just hope it would be toggleable instead of short duration and cooldown.

Oh, you reminded me of things I left off.

Multiple stacks of green tempers for all professions
Multiple stacks of blue tempers for all professions
1 stack of purple and 1 stack of yellow tempers for all professions
1 stack of each Essence Rune
1 stack of each Aspect Rune
1 stack of each Potency Rune (levels 7-9)
And a stack or two of whatever tier of Woodworking my alt happens to be on.

And I'm not saying people have to play like me, but I don't understand why they need quite so much space in their banks.

Technically, 3, but I really only play 2 of them. Before you ask: no, the 3rd character isn't a mule, and none of them have packhorses.

I appreciate that it's hard to afford the upgrades after 150 slots before you get to VR12, but you also don't have as much stuff to put in the bank before you hit VR12. But. You can craft VR12 items long before you actually reach VR12, and that's a lot of money. For example, last night I signed on for a quick half hour to kill time. In that killed time, I made 20,000g from crafting sales. If money's what you need, money's easy to get.

I see everyday when adventuring why people need so much room in banks.

They are greedy, they harvest everything that is out there like vultures, no matter if they even need it or not. Many propably have bank full of mats that are not even useful anymore because they are too low level. Too much food ingredients when you just need 1 food you make all the time which changes when you level.

Folks should just leave the needless gathering and hoarding then sell all materials that are irrelevant to them.

Sorry, bit of an off topic :(

Look, if you have an inventory problem.. create a new character, skip the intro, and withdraw the items from the bank you don't feel you'll need now but would like to keep for a later time (ie some/most/all of your trophys from public dungeons).
