It'd be cool if once they launch the justice system, guards would come and hassle you for bringing an abomination into town with you and tell you to banish it or be thrown out

Then of course you could sick your foul demons on the guards but it'd earn you a bounty

it doesnt matter, im not going to take mine out anyways. I think Zenimax is too stupid to make a combat pet that isnt in the sorc skill line, vanity pet? Who gives a rip? Now a combat pet for being loyal, im all for that, Zenimax can keep the stupid vanity pets (where did that *** idea come from anyways?)

Because getting a combat pet for being loyal is equivalent to P2W: you are getting something that idrectly impacts your gameplay in exchange for real world currency; something that could potentially give you an advantage over someone who hasn't played as long. Vanity items are the easiest way to give the player something that doesn't impact gameplay.

    And a sorcs pets dont?

They do, very much so! And they should because it is a mechanic built into the game available to everyone who has an active subscription. I'm talking about battle familiars behind a paywall is a bad idea.

So a palomino horse you can buy from an on line store isnt behind a paywall? And when spellcrafting comes along people wont be able to craft pet spells?

    1. It is, but it isn't P2W because you can buy better/equivalent horses using in-game currency. (and arguably isn't going to help you "win" anyways)
    2. if this hypothetical reward combat pet is a skill, then sure. It'll no longer be P2W if/when spellcrafting allows non-sorcs to get an equivelent pet. Until then it would be. And, of course, if this hypothetical reward combat pet is an item like all the vanity pets, then regardless of spell crafting, It's p2w.

    Dear Gods, yes.

Pets, be they vanity or summoner pets really annoy the everloving FRAK out of me.

There needs to be a "no pet zone" around every vendor, crafting station, dye station and bank. This zone can also be a "no powers zone" and clearly marked by having the ground in the area of the zone be a different color.

However, I realize this is a pipe dream, what with the upcoming grie...err....justice system.

what were you going to say? Yea, that's what I thought.

If I were a grie... I would hide in those circles the moment I started losing.

I played a pvp game with safe zones, and they were eventually taken out because they were only ever used for that.
Dear Sister, I do not spread rumors, I create them.

I like pets in the game. After leveling up a Sorc I have a new appreciation for pets. It's one of those, must try for yourself kind of deals. As far as cosmetic pets (non-combat), they are fun too. Why not? This is a very common thing for MMOs!

The problem is, not being able to walk through them and people in local chats arguing over other's blocking doorways, etc... they should be set to phantom for other players. Also, an NPC walking by shouldn't be able to push my character playing the Lute unless I'm able to push them back! Oh yes I know soon, Justice System.... I can't wait. LOL :grinning:

I say this with the utmost respect for your personal opinion and position on the matter:

Pets are a lot like children, I guess.
Those of you who have them don't seem to mind them much.
Some other people might not mind them, either.
And some people like them just because they know that doing SOMEthing in the area that ticks other players off is more fun for them than actually playing the game.

But there are a lot of us who don't have them, on purpose, and don't play the game to be stuck in a kindergarten or zoo.

I've left restaurants when the kidnoise ratio got too high, so please try to understand that some people don't enjoy seeing your pet.

We could put the points down and get a slew of them for ourselves, so seeing herds of them in the bank just isn't that impressive or exciting to us.

I pray to The Goddess for a slider to make 'out of combat' pets and familiars invisible TO ME, so that you can lag the servers to your hearts content with boatloads of the things without making me have to deal with not being able to see the stuff I'm trying to interact with around your horde.

Yes, they pile up in front of doorways and block access. And not just the pets, the summons as well. I can walk right through another player, but that damned pet and summons, no. That's not right, and should be fixed, quickly.

In fact, pets should be automatically turned off in PvP. They can get in the way.

Indeed. The pet entourage is getting a little out of hand. Also, in what lore-friendly situation are Ice Wraiths domesticated? I would consider it acceptable if, once summoned, they automatically tried to freeze everyone in the vicinity to death.

... Actually I'd be in favour of pets then. Popping an ice wraith in the tiny confines of the Shornhelm bank could be highly amusing...

Vanity pets don't have collision (excepting one case where one was bugged). From the screen shot referenced, it is indeed larger than the other vanity pets, but not as large as the actual mobs you encounter in game. I don't think it's all that bad.

I've been stuck inside a monkey after porting to a wayshrine more times than I care to admit. Everytime it was by someone who had drug their monkey to the exact spot where you port in and went AFK.

If you don't experience this then you are lucky, but pets definitely have collision (or at least a frame that I constantly get stuck in).

So that's what it was. Happened to me a number of times last time I played. I thought my keyboard was dying lol

I'm sick of having to jump over pets when inside buildings as well. It's usually the Razak spider that's the culprit. I hope zeni fixes collision detection for the pets soon. I've seen it's on their todo list.
