Sick of missing out on dialogue

I listen to every word people say because I enjoy it, I also have run every single quest with a guy that doesnt do that.... some quests when he talks to them it skips the dialogue for me..

I just missed talking to Vaermina because he just hit 11111111 and skipped through it, I know you are working on grouping but this is getting crazy... I want to do the content that I can't repeat properly.

I won't group with folks like that. I just won't. To me the journey is the important part, not the destination. If others want to race through the game or have done the content before, fine but I want to take it at my pace. Which is, admittedly, sometimes slower than many like.

When they pay my sub, they can drag me along as they wish, but until then, newp!

    - murder your grouping partner. Humanitarian a nature entails many utopic a concept.

    - get into Literature. The kind sans the photos, will make you want to forget the ESO "lore" so much you will become just like your grouping partner. Hope you didn't bury him anywhere deep?

    - don't whine to Zeni for something that is decidedly customer-caused?

^ so you thought you would come in here and tell me that a game mechanic that is annoying is ok because it doesn't affect you and you call me immature? I bet annoying people on the internet gives you such a thrill doesn't it....

    no,

    - immature is your grouping partner, for not thinking about you and being selfless/thoughtless

    - immature is complaining to a third party for something your partner and your partner alone is responsible for

    - immature is continuing to play with him and blaming it on the game, the devs, me for calling it out

now, (black humour aside) the fact is that Zeni was asked for more grouping options, and Zeni (albeit slowly) begun to deliver. Not their fault if you chose ... whomever, whysoever... you chose to do them with.

    that make more sense?

That is the worst logic I have ever heard...... sooo you are saying that it is my fault for running in a group because this aspect makes it difficult, and that means that zenimax has nothing to do with? I see why people say don't go to the forums or your brain will bleed

Should do it like SWTOR when they have a group cutscene for dialogue
Or have it separate for everyone

Since my wife and I play together, we listen to all the quests--I wasn't even aware it skips for both people when one person does it. Is this just for a few of them (we're going through with alts right now, and ARE skipping some, and so far I haven't noticed it doing that (she skips since she's heard it, but a lot of the time I like to listen again).

I see it from both sides, you matches yourself with a team mate that wants something different from yourself, hence you will miss out on what you find important in the game, that he/she finds irrelevant.

Conclusion, you found the wrong match, and should start looking for a more suitable team mate to do the content with.

    Agree.

My wife and I haven't played together since they've made the change to the dialog where it does skip if you select an option though. Something could have become messed up after that... but I know it didn't previously skip at all.

Edit: Need to type out full thoughts so things make sense.

I have this problem during group dungeons. Here I am listening to the quest giver telling my what's happening, etc etc and my group is halfway in the dungeon fighting and getting killed. It's frustrating to say the least.

I leave groups if they do this.. I don't mind partnering up with random people to do quests, but I guess I am too selfish because I like to read all the dialogue, I like to pick up quests when I see the glowing arrow, I like to harvest mats if I pass them by. I don't really like running from A to B, clicking through dialogue and racing to get quests done. I respect that some people like to level fast (or are leveling alts), but I just don't group with those people. :)

..and this is why random groups as opposed to friends fail. Bringing friends to a game is one thing....finding new ones in game is entirely different. Many are not compatible so we say. As you have demonstrated.

I wouldn't go so far as to say random groups fail. I just said I don't continue grouping with people who have a different set of priorities than me. I have been in many random groups that went great; in fact, some of my favourite experiences in the game came from random groups.

I should clarify that I don't mean actual grouping content like dungeons- in that case, I don't leave the group. I just mean finding random questing partners here and there.

Well, I wanted to comment that I clicked on Agree and you won't see me calling people immature. Not the OP, at least.

In another game I play, they have wonderful addons that automatically select and complete quests so that players are not burdened by the wall of text that appears before them. It may simply be that they have done the quest so many times on alts that they know it already, or it may simply be that they want the goods, but I suspect the majority of players in that game simply don't care what is happening so long as they get the credit for the quest. They even made a quest in the game that parodies that behavior.

I see this in ESO as well. Sometimes people run up to the quest giver, stop, and within a second or two are on their way down the storyline. It is unlikely that they read anything. Perhaps they have heard it before, and I can certainly understand the desire to skip it on the replay, but deep down I figure that they are just trying to complete the quest as fast as possible so they can move on.

In both games, that sentiment is sad. The first game has some quirky humor in the game that is fun to read and quite often the text will tell part of the back story of the world. In ESO, the lore is in the books that no one reads, but the quest giver dialog explains why things are happening and what is going on. From a mechanical perspective, all I have to do is kill this, or go there, but the story of what is going on is larger than that.

As characters travel through the game, they often meet the same quest giver NPCs multiple times. Some, like Razum-Dar, are obvious, but I often wonder how many people notice the less flamboyant ones.

Weird , when they talk it skipps your text?

Never had this happen to me , i usually skip it to keep up with people in the few times i actually go to dungeons and such.

I assume most already know everything in there , so they rush it , when i solo the dungeons i check what the NPCs have to say.

For quests I've already done, I do skip through dialogue. If I'm in a group, I check to see who has or hasn't completed the quest, and I let them control the pace of dialogue as best I can. Sometimes someone will get to the NPC first and skip, but mostly they get to experience the quest at their own pace while I hang out and wait for them to finish.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone else advancing the quest didn't force everyone else to do so, however.

I think he may be (inelegantly) saying that it's not your fault for running in a group, but it is your fault if you continue to run with a partner who is playing in a way that is so contrary to your own. Talk to your partner. If they don't want to change their playstyle, then solo or find a new partner.

Find an RP group/guild they don't skip through any text... they even add in their own making the time to complete things take even longer!
