What happened to the motifs?

Howdy folks, I've noticed a lot of people talking about a ghost update on motifs making them harder to find and I admit that they're not just leaping out of chests and into my lap like they used to... but the prices still haven't gone up at all. We still dealing with an overflow from them being so easy to find for a while? Even now there are people looking to find certain motifs and having difficulty finding them but on the same note no one wants to sell them for the small prices everyone is stuck with.

Reason I ask this is because of the market stagnating and running a trade guild with this kind of wonky market has more than a few folks with their eyebrows raised. Lemme know what your outlook is and please share any info on what is happening!

    I'm pretty sure they share some kind of drop rate cool down with purple recipes, and those were made more common, which means more chance for purple recipes and less chance at the purple motifs.

    The motif drop rate seemed to change a few patches ago, but it seemed that many people already had them by the time the drops changed.

    Now, there isn't a huge demand for the motifs because most high level crafters already have them. The price should be lower, but many people just can't bring themselves to sell something for cheap that was selling for 50k just a few weeks ago.

    I still see purple recipe prices all over the place, too. Just last night I saw the same recipe from 2 different people being offered for 80k and 20k... that's quite a difference.

    Compare it with something in real life, something which you can't find just by going to market and buy it, but you must be very very lucky to get it or buy it for high price, what does that tell you?

    It is interesting that you bring this up because just this last week and a half I have found one primal, two ancient elves and one daedric motif. This is over three vet level characters V4 to V8. This is more purple motifs than I found from early access on all my characters combined.

    What is even more intersting is that everyone of them was in a backpack out in the wilderness. Not a single one was in a chest, wardrobe, nightstand, etc.

    Methinks the drop locations have been changed to get people out from camping banks and other buildings.

    BTW I still have an ancient elves and primal motif for sale :)

    I've had a few rare motifs since the latest major update although less rare motifs than recipes. Although, I have learned every single VR5 food and drink recipe and sold several LOL. And keep in mind, I don't farm for hours on end. I just have a certain "ritual" when I login to feed extra horses, collect hireling mats, etc... on different characters which has worked out nicely for me.

    I've seen them here and there. I hadn't really noticed a change in the drop rate and if anything it seems like I'm finding them more often than I used to. Same goes for blue recepies. On my new level 20 char I've yet to get a purple (which is fine considering the level) but the other day I did manage to get the Imperial Motif! I was not expecting that. I have the Imperial edition but I used it anyway to add to my lore library.

    I thought maybe they were more common now. I traded 2 purple food recipes for 2 purple motifs a couple days ago in an even trade.
