A New Server With A New Mode

Hey everyone, as the title suggests, I would love to see a new server with a new mode, or possibly just update 2.0.

This means an entire gameplay change, with the same engine, same areas etc.

Now before I dive into specifics, I will show some credibility and how I feel about the current state of the game.

Skip the credibility and experience section if you want to see what i propose

Credibility & Experience

I bought Morrowind 12 years ago (when I was 8 years old). Ever since then I was sucked into the open world rpg genre and The Elder Scrolls. I bought Oblivion and Skyrim the day they came out and logged countless hours into III, IV, V. I bought the Elder Scrolls Anthology right next to me, reserved it the day it was announced.

The only content I never played in TES has been Arena, Daggerfall, Tribunal, Main Story of Morrowind, Shivering Isles, Dawngaurd and Dragonborn. (I do have all of these ready to play though)

So as you can see I am a dedicated fan but I still have yet to explore all the lore, however I do love looking on the elder scrolls wiki and reading up on things I never knew.

After I playing Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, I had the same thought and idea in my head, every single moment and it was

"This would be incredible with my brother or a few of my friends."

A couple years back I the announcement of The Elder Scrolls online was made and I lost my ****. I was completely amazed, and followed it to the day of beta and release. I remember reading every article and watching every video.

Then I was invited to the Beta, turned it on, heard outstanding music, saw beautiful character creation, but one thing turned me off. Selecting one of four classes. Don't get me wrong I loved selecting and creating my own class in morrowind and oblivion, but these classes had set use skills not attainable by other classes. Other than that the character creation was great besides the selection of hair.

Once I got in game I was surprised at first person movement, immedietly saw my fist fly up, did a roll, jump and felt at home. But something still felt like it was missing.

Now before I dive into actual subjects I will say how much of ESO I have actually played because I don't want to give off the impression that I am a hardcore player. and maybe I don't know what I am talking about, but what I would propose, I think would greatly improve my experience and would convince my long time elder scrolls buddies to play for years and years.

I just recently bought ESO, I was completely underwhelmed by the Beta after awhile, I rushed through trying to taste the game without spoiling the beginning and ultimately destroyed my inital experience. However I am writing this now with a week of play under my belt and it is entirely better that what I thought of it a months and months ago.

At times it totally feels like an MMO and at times it totally feels like an elder scrolls game. I want to here these NPC's talk, I want to explore and immerse myself, but so many things break universe immersion and immedietly feel like I am back in the cookie cutter mmo quest progression style.

Here is a summary proposal for a new server or update 2.0 and afterwards I will dive into specifics.

Summary:

Molag Bal is dead, The Alliance War has ended. Tamriel is saved from the daedra and only a united land can stand against another coming darkness. However strife at home still resumes as it does in times of peace, there will always be loyalists, extremists, criminals, danger, adventure and treasure.

Everyone starts as a prisoner in the province of their choice. You are released for unknown reasons and this is where you select your name, race, birth sign and (class?) Once you are out in the world, there is no direction other than a few objectives in your quest log

Join a guild (player made or npc faction)

Talk to the innkeeper about rumors.

The world will be completely explorable, no quest path, no level restriction, no item level restriction. Just a world that scales with level (so everyone 1-10 will be synced with the monsters and adjust to them, everyone 10-20 will be seperated from 1-10 etc.)

Players can form their own alliances and be bandits, outlaws, sheriffs, traders, assassins, thieves, adventurers etc. (I know a lot of people find open pvp frustrating so there will be heavy restrictions on that.)

The whole point is for it to feel like an elder scrolls game, just "Online" and not the standard mmo formula of gear grinding, level requirement, end game etc.

Now for the specifics.

Classes:
Either no classes at all (Skyrim), or class selection from Oblivion. I believe the skills in ESO are very restrictive and very flashy, I feel badass the moment I start the game. Although ESO has the best skill customization and freedom in any other MMO.

The skills available will be the skyrim version of skills (one handed, two handed, shield, heavy, light, destruction, restoration etc.)

If its Skyrim, let race dictate your starting skill levels. Hard cap for level will be 50. your can get 49 perks for skill progression. 1 perk can be inserted into a tree for any skill that may increase damage or allow you to zoom with a bow.

If its Oblivion, lets your class/race dictate your starting skill levels. You obtain skills and proficiency by your skill number (25, 50, 75, 100) So at level 75 with one handed weapons you get a pommel strike when moving backwards and using power attack etc.

Experience is gained by using what skills you want to use and levels are gained obtaining experience. However it is easier to obtain experience by using skills you frequently use and is determined by player level to skill level ratio.

Player level will only dictate one thing, attributes toward Magikca, Health, and Stamina.

Equipment:
Anything can be equipped on your character, if you can carry its weight. However there will be some sort of invisible level requirement for armor that is traded. A player at 39 can't simply trade a level 21 a daedric piece of armor. But a player at level 21 could possibly find a daedric piece of armor in a chest on one of his travels.

Equipment can be crafted, as it is done in skyrim. materials can be found throughout the world from mining, skinning, and gathering.

There are not grades of armor simply unenchanted and enchanted.

NPC Factions:
These factions will be a great starting point for your alignment with the world and other players, they offer a source of gear, randomly generated quests, a storyline and competitive ranks. Players will also be able to offer quests for these factions to take up, Say you are apart of the Mages guild and you are about to log off for the night, but you need some troll fat for some alchemy to create a cool potion. Head over to the Fighters guild bulletin and select the job needed, in this case you need 10 troll fat and are willing to pay 250 gold for it. A real recruit can take up this quest and it will direct him towards the closest cave that could inhabit trolls to be generated within.

These factions also give you a moral standing with how you can interact with other players.

As a part of the fighters guild, you are allied with the fighters guild, mages guild, imperial gaurd etc. (the good guys) Cannot attack eachother.

As apart of the thieves guild, you are neutral, everything goes into effect. Thieves don't murder, they only protect themselves and if you break the code, you are stripped of rank and standing and officially a criminal.

Morag Tong is neutral and only has jurisdiction in Morrowind, but can find fleeing targets that leave morrowind. Players can offer money to the Morag Tong to kill other players that have wrongly done another player, the morag tong is excused of the hit and will not be effected in criminal status.

As apart of the Dark Brotherhood you are a free kill, unless you are seen commiting the crime, you are free to walk about cities. People who want to pay money illegally to kill another player come to the dark brotherhood and offer money to kill other players, However the minimum price will not be cheap and there does not have to be a reason. (Killing is not allowed in a city)

Same goes with bandits, vampires, etc.

You can also remain a citizen, break no laws, join no guilds, and can attend the college of winterhold, bards guild, adventurers guild, traders guild etc. and you will not allowed to be killed or kill.

Player Guilds:
These can be formed for group alignment and can wage war against other player created guilds, or stay neutral and do pve content.

Combat:
The combat in ESO is wonderful, however I feel that it needs to purge itself of the flashy effects and contain the original skills in the past games. It will feel like an Oblivion/Skyrim hybrid.

The skills you use in combat will be the ones you learn from perks or skill level.

Spells can be learned through books or bought from mages. examples are flames, fireball, ice trap, ice atronach, flame atronach. etc.

Exploration:
Monsters will reset everyday. Dungeons will be separately instanced so monsters will stay dead, however maybe the next day new gear, monsters and other treasure awaits.

Special items will be placed through out the world every month and can only be picked up once by one player. (Like a ring at the bottom of a lake, a sword in a rock on a tall mountain.)

Npc's will wander around and offer random quests such as "I lost my family sword in this cave, here let me mark your map, could you bring it back to me." Once you enter, it will generate the random quest layout.

Other features:
CITIZENS OF THE IMPERIAL CITY, WELCOME... TO THE ARENA!

Let players create gladiator teams for organized PVP combat, wearing the basic armor that is given and the weapons/spells of there choice, have players bet on matches against eachother to earn gold and spectate.

Conclusion:
Now I know this is such a long shot, in fact I know it will never happen, but this is the elder scrolls online that I want to experience, regardless I am having fun, and I am looking for ward to the coming changes and additions like, new guilds, armor, weapons, criminal system, attackable npcs.

Also nearly all the numbers, ratio's and etc are just examples, they are not to be corrected and mathematically correct, fair etc.

The whole point of this world is to have the freedom and unrestrained glory that open world RPG's have to provide.

So i'd like to hear what you guys have to say, what you would like to see, what you wouldnt.

Correct me on what I don't know, maybe there is fun explorable stuff once you reach max. I hear its a whole other game at 50 when you explore other provinces. Maybe some of this stuff is present.

Anyway have fun everyone, and I hope ESO lives on and gives a fun experience for everyone to enjoy!

About 6months before launch the devs asked us testers what kinda different campaign rule sets we would like.

50 pages of wasted effort as nothing ever happened with it.

    Don't waste your time.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Elder Scrolls series as much as you, and I've been playing for about the same length of time.

But this is the Elder Scrolls Online. It's a totally different development team and a totally different game. It's never going to be The Elder Scrolls VI, because that's still being developed by Bethesda. It's never going to capture the exact scope and feel of the single-player games, because it's limited by MMO mechanics. In a similar vein, the single-player games are never going to be balanced around multiplayer, and that enables them to give us the experiences they already offer.

In short: you already have 5 games worth of single-player Elder Scrolls games that use the mechanics you want. An MMO simply can't be that type of world, because you have to balance the game for hundreds of thousands of players.

It's all very interesting, and sad to say. All very unlikely, your best bet is to wait for another TES game to be released. But who knows, game hasn't even been out for a year, we may see something like this being added. As for that quote ^ Molag Bal can't die, Daedric Princes are immortal :p
    Aldmeri Dominion For Life!
Crassus Licinius II - DK - V14 - Former Emperor of Blackwater Blade NA (The Dragonknight that refuses to go Vampire.)
N'tel Arlena - NB - V14 - Retired Sap Tank of Haderus NA, Harasser of Many (Also, not a vampire. Goes by nickname Nutella.)

I already appreciate what is being said guys. Haha especially the Daedric Princes being immortal. I wrote dead and I thought to myself... uhhh, should I put quotations for like banished, imprisoned? I didn't know exactly what happened to him. Thanks for letting me know!
