Champion System and current VP totals

Ok. So we know that the Champion System is coming. Patch 5? Patch 6? Even later? Don't know... but it's coming.
The vet ranks will be removed, all toons currently at vet levels will become level 50 and then the champion stuff is added on.
My question / concern is what is going to happen retroactively for our characters. Will the VPs we've earned (which'll be up to VR14 or higher by then)... all those millions and millions VPs and countless hours of grinding and work... mean anything once the Champion System goes in?
Will all that progress be wiped and every level 50 toon start from scratch concerning the Champion System? Or will some of the vet progress we've already obtained give some immediate progress in the Champion System?
If the latter, what if you have several toons of varying vet ranks? Will they add up the collective VPs of your VR14 toon and your VR10 and those two VR3s you got and start out with a certain number of champion points more than a new player who only happens to have 1 toon who just reached VR1 would have?
At QuakeCon they said (iirc) that Champion System perks applies to all toons in your account so that makes me think that you can work on one toon gaining exp for champion points, switch to another toon and continue champion point grinding from where the other toon left off.
Basically, if the Champion System wipes all vet toons down to level 50 and gives no extra champion points upon launch of that new system, then I see absolutely no reason to bring my VR12 to VR14 nor do anything with my two VR1s. Rather, I would just level up non-vet characters to 50 and leave them there until the Champion system is implemented. Then I wouldn't be wasting a ton of time plus I'd have a lot of toons at level 50 with different builds and styles to work with.
If the Champion System takes existing VPs and vet ranks into account and gives some immediate champion points (in other words, translating your vet advancement in to champion system advancement), then no problem with continuing to level up my current vets.
Anyone with info on this? I know it's early to ask because the Champion system is still in the works but it's kinda important to know . Maybe a dev can shed some light on this?

V14 Templar Argonian Healer, V12 DK Orc Tank, V2 Sorcerer High Elf DPS, V1 Templar Breton DPS, V1 Nightblade Bosmer DPS, and 3 low levels.

✭✭✭✭✭I can't remember where, but I believe they have said that existing Vet characters will be appropriately transferred to the new system. ✭The devs have said on a few occasions that VP will be converted to XP and when the champion system comes in after that the XP vet players have earned will be translated to champion points. ✭I think what the OP meant is what would happen to those veteran points acquired after you reach veteran level cap. Will they be retroactively be given as equivalent to champion points as well? I doubt it though as they might possibly not have a way to track it.0 -

They actually did say at some point that the game is tracking that VP/soon-to-be-XP, and it will be factored in.----
