Help/Advice -> Melee vs. Dungeon Bosses

What am I missing? Any help is appreciated.

I've leveled a 45NB dps but have stuck almost strictly to my ranged bar when running dungeons b/c avoiding telegraphs(red circles) I spend all my time dodge rolling away when melee, then leaving no room for any dps.

Are Boss telegraphs in melee range blockable/interruptable? Are NB's too squishy for 'melee' in 'dungeons'? Do I stick to the hip of the tank and let him and healer help keep me alive?

Also started to level a Tank lvl12 now and want to run my first dungeons but how does one stay in melee range of bosses with all the melee/aoe telegraphs? *see questions above

P.S.
I feel about as stupid as when I first played chose the 'Bow' in Cold Harbour and then tried following the 1st tutorial of RMB+LMB = Interrupt. I spent hours experimenting with that from range. lol

Most melee skills have a 5-7 meter range, which is often enough to stand outside the red circle of the boss attacks and still connect. For big aoes you may be able to step back a little ways and then get back in when the aoe is done. Most boss level telegraphs are not interruptible, and though you can block many, it'll eat your stamina and possibly still do too much damage on you (ie: annoy your healer)

That being said, some bosses are very melee unfriendly and having a bow on your second bar for dungeons is well worth it.

    Edit: I can haz spelling?

If your Ranged Attacks are not enough to kill the boss, close in for Melee, get some DPS on them, then back or dodge roll away. Switch to ranged, spam light or heavy attacks while alternating some Siphon. Then once you have some mana built back up, or stamina as your bar may be, move back in for melee.

I use Shadow Cloak then Hidden Weapon as a nice one two skill attack when close, then back off and use ranged once I need to refill my mana. I forget the name, but there is a cloud skill in NB that does some nice damage over time. Cast that early on, it will help, especially as your movement speed is increased 50% allowing you to get away.

If you have 1H/S then use the skill that reflects or absorbs magic attacks and use that if the boss is a caster.

Bosses are not that difficult for my NB, it's the adds that always cause me issues.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

^- path of darkness. The refreshing path morph is nice in group situations.

They don't call this game "Elder Stacking Online" for nothing. If you have a good healer and other damage mitigation abilities than you are able to just blow through most boss attacks. If you watch some videos of trials, you will notice that everyone is just standing on top of the boss and out healing his abilities.

Most pug groups don't have great healers or other players with the damage mitigation abilities, so melee users take a huge hit. This is why ranged DPS is so much better than melee DPS in this game.
