Does your friend still play?

A question I asked a guildy.

"no"
"why not"
"Got to v12 did trials, nothing left to do, quit game."

Strangely reminiscent of GW2 dialogues.

Unfortunately it's to late to nerf xp across the board like they should have before release without losing their current casual's. A disturbing trend in themepark mmos.

Aww. I'm getting close to v12. When I get there, I'm going to go back and do all the public dungeon group bosses, and get achievements, and pvp to my hearts content, and maybe adopt a rat in riften, and any other of the loads of things to do in this game. V12 does not mean the end of the game, it simply means you are at your current peak of power for the time being.

Exactly this. There's so much to do outside of trials. PvP alone is enough to keep you occupied for a long time if you run out of other stuff to do. People can't seem to make their own fun though if it isn't given to them on rails.

My friends quit before level 20. One's pretty flakey when it comes to games and the other got his girlfriend pregnant. So I am alone at the top of the level pile, but I'm still having fun without them.

Ah so you mean they blitzed the content, didn't really take time to enjoy it then /ragequit blaming ZoS for making a crappy game? Seems like every other MMO out there. This generation of instant gratification give me now really sucks.

People have been complaining about a lack of end-game content since they hit v10 during Early Access.
So before the game was even "officially released" players have been treating the situation as though they "completed" all content in game, and that the game was poorly made because there was "nothing to do" as a max level.

It really makes no sense to me. Skip over the entirety of the game, then complain the game has no content.

Yep. I don't know why people think that just cause they've leveled up to VR12 that the game is somehow over! This kind of mind set drives me nuts. The game should be about having fun and enjoying the environment, not just about pushing number to their limit. Too many people are worried about their stats and aren't having fun being in the world.

All those achievements!! That's going to be so much fun. I'm trying to not rush through the last 2.5 provinces I have left to do to start on those and Craglorn.

Plus, I'll finally probably go back to PvP for as much as it was unbalanced and unfun last time I played it.

I feel like the key to having fun in PvP is joining a great PvP guild and running with them. I tried pugging at first and had fun, but now that I have a consistent, well managed guild to run with I'm having a blast.

I only had 1 friend who played. I don't keep too many friends as is anyway. He doesn't play because him and his woman got into a fight and he had to move out. He now lives in the country with his uncle and no internet. Not all ended subs are because of the game itself. Some people enjoy trials and grinding.

My friends hit VR and play way less now. I do PVP mostly anymore. As for joining PVP guilds, from my experience, too many of them want to force a play style on you or make you use exploits. I'll stick to solo PVP until VR12 and then I'll form my own guild for it with much more lenient practices.

increasing the grind by reducing exp causes more situations like this:

    "I am quitting."
    "Wait, what? Why?"
"I am sick of the slow paced, boring grind this game has become."

    Your response?

My best friend and I recently hit V12, it was about 2 weeks ago. We haven't been able to do trails because we are waiting for the guild to catch up. But after a while dominating in PvP as duel nightblades, we just made a temp and sorc last night.

I can honestly say, that re-rolling (still playing on AD) I have had the same amount of excitement and joy I had going through the first time. I'm going to play in a fairly different way too, my first play through I just wanted to get to higher level and see everything and hit Veteran ranks so i skipped through so much (I learned my lesson with Razum-Dar). Now I'm gonna take it slow.

this seems to be what most people did, weren't there v12s couple days after launch? that's ridiculous, people like that are ridiculous too. I kinda wish people like that weren't allowed to play games.

I had 3 friends start playing with me, one didn't even get past 10ish before she lost motivation. Another quit in his 20s, i have one friend i still play with (I have a VR2 and a VR6, they are VR3) and we've recently started Everquest together because.... we're having more fun there!

    I know right...
Still subbed, still love this game but the atmosphere isn't MMO enough for me.

I want challenging group content, not DPS races.
I want levels to MEAN something.
Gear doesn't have to be a treadmill, but don't bore us with the same stuff over and over. Same stats and traits since level 1? I'd love more variety
I'd like to see support and tank class combos have a stronger role in this game. As it stands now, DPS AND HEALS OR GTFO.
Phasing needs to be trashed. I realize this might remove the feeling of "Affecting your environment" but it hinders group play so much! I haven't seen an MMO try to force solo play this much before.
There needs to be incentive to group! Full group XP bonus, something!

This is why I get confused when people are mad about the lack of new solo content being released. Their number 1 focus for new content should be more socially oriented, in my opinion.

It's because leveling itself should not be the goal, the focus should be on making things interesting. People rush to max level and then... nothingness. Developers' motto should be - 'We make it so the players enjoy the journey'. Quests are way too easy, but again, most players want them to be easy so they can gain xp quickly - xp should not exist. I would like quests to be challenging, but the players should only choose to quest when they want to be challenged instead of just gaining a few more xp.

Several friends quit. many of them grinded to VR10 in a hurry, but that's not why they quit. There was mass bans on some with no reason given. Some just thought they completely did stupid things as far as balance or the fact that there was no guild recognition at the time. Most quit before VR 5 just due to how much it put them off.

See; we were mostly PvP focused so no recognition for the ones that excelled as a guild and putting a tedious level system that requires PvE if you are seriously wanting to get to top form just doesn't bode well with a lot of PvPers I know. They certainly haven't made it much better to at least level while PvPing here, either.

I love when people complain they were "banned without a given reason" as if that means "banned for no reason." Those people were likely either abusive trolls or exploiters of some sort. That or they bought gold or something.
