The Campaigns - What's wrong with them - How to Fix them

Maybe in the case that I saw it was just a camp being setup then, and say 20 of them jump to it at once and it essentially disappeared by the time I got close enough. I never saw the camp, but I suppose that's possibly what happened, and would make sense. When I've seen mention of the 'travel to..' issue, I thought maybe that was part of it.

But you can only travel to FCs if you're dead, correct? I've never been able to travel to one otherwise and just assumed that's how it went.

@Ifthir_ESO‌ When in PVE you will get campaign buffs from your assigned Home Campaign, but while in campaigns, you will only get buffs from the campaign you're physically located within.

@ZOS_Brianwheeler Isn't the PvE buff aspect of the PvP game then the core of the problem? People try to dominate a campaign just for the buffs to PvE?

take them out of PvE too, from a PvEr on the ebonheart pact i can tell you that its PvErs actually trying to change chillrend to an EP place because 20% crit is HUGE when you are raiding competitively.

The PvE crowd finds no problem PvDooring a map one color if it means they can clear the raids that much faster. I have never even completed a trial - have no interest in it - and never will. However, that crew is making the PvP crew suffer massive population imbalances during off times - and then forcing us to grind keeps when we would rather enjoy fighting other groups in the open or near resources where NPC's + Walls do not decide the battle.

Of course it is your game to design and you have done some very nice things using the DAOC concept. However, please do not influence the outcome of the various servers based solely on the benefit that PvE players receive from the campaigns. I think that is the argument being presented among many.

If indeed it is the PVE trials/raids groups who are turning maps to their desired color in order to receive the buffs for the trials, then we have two possible solutions then.

    1. Prevent all PVP buffs from applying to anything except the Home campaign. There would be no PVP buffs in the PVE zones. These trials players might leave the maps alone if there is nothing for them to gain by flipping maps.
    2. Create three new dead campaigns - one for each faction - that can only be accessed by members of that faction. The PVE and trials players would have all of their buffs from their unchallenged and unchanging Home campaign. They would not need to flip maps in off hours for the buffs, especially if the buffs did not travel to guest campaigns.

Either or both of these options would be fine by me.

@ZOS_BrianWheeler‌ This isn't good enough. Take the pvp buffs out of pve completely. Also are you aware that full map ownage recently was buffed in 1.3.3 from 8% crit to 20% crit? Intended?

Alot of people like both PVP and PVE like myself. If i work hard in Cyrodiil to protect my home keeps and help claim a few enemy keeps and elder scrolls for my alliance why should i not get that bonus when i go and PVE for a few hours?

Your PVP effecting your PVE is one of main themes of this game and even a reason for alliance pride and something that pulls you from PVE like when your Scrolls start to be in danger. Alot of people wanted another game to do this just, like Darkage of Camelto did. if i wanted to play a game that kept PVE and PVP seperate I would go play GW2.

The problem is you assume that eveyone is eigther 100% PVE player or 100% PVP players. This game actually wants you to do both and not seperate them.

The idea is that you protect what is yours i Cyrodiil and take from the enemy so that it benefits you for EVERYTHING

Guesting will never go away I'm afraid. Their marketing pitch is that they want people to be able to play with their friends... The reality?

@Ifthir_ESO‌ When in PVE you will get campaign buffs from your assigned Home Campaign, but while in campaigns, you will only get buffs from the campaign you're physically located within.

But that won't stop there from being those empty servers where those who really don't want to PvP will just Home and take over just for the buffs. There are already 2 that are all times 1 color, and one would be the same way if the other alliances gave up on it like the other two.

Buffs need not apply outside of cyrodil, and on that note former emp buff need not exist for the same reason. Raising the AP required for Emp to 50k doesn't solve anything. The new 30 day campaign coming up may very well turn into the prime emp farming campaign, since it doesn't take nearly that long to get 50k ap and people will have more time to trade off before the reset. Its good enough that getting emp once gets you a armor dye, and it should stay at that.

make a lock a "lock"(not a queue) Only allow queues when campaign populations are close in relation to other alliances. This one bar EP crap on Thornblade with AD locked is stupid. There is no competition..only being rolled by 100s of vet 1s.

    Campaign swapping needs to stop.

In order to discourage flipping the entire map one color (either overnight or on dead campaigns) why not just introduce scaling debuffs. If you take more than 12 keeps, you start incurring a debuff that increases with each additional keep you take. Same thing with scrolls. Once you take the fifth scroll, you incur a debuff for your faction and that debuff doubles once you take the sixth scroll. It would force you to think strategically about what you are actually taking instead of facerolling the map.

For example, once you were in possession of the fifth scroll, you would incur X% debuff, say miss chance (and lets say 5% for the sake of this example, not sure what a good number would be off the top of my head). Once you place the sixth scroll in one of your keeps, all of a sudden you have a 10% miss chance debuff. You would have to weigh whether or not having the buffs from the last two scrolls was worth also having the debuff. And you would have a separate and unique debuff for owning more than X number of keeps.

I would like to chime in here for a bit without angering the trolls. earlier a post was written about singling EP out. I would have done the reply thing but idk how so heres my thoughts. EP is singled out not because ppl hate EP its because it is the EP faction doing all the cheap tricks in the first place. Troll camps guest zergs all of it. I for one laughed my @#$ off when DC ninja bow of shadows from EP. WHY? because all it was doing was ruining pvp servers across the board. majority of EP homed bow of shadows and 90% of them just traveled to where the action was at. coming into a competitive server and trying to use the buffs and the cheap zerg to ruin everyone elses gameplay. and when EP lost Bow they just moved to chillrend. The problem is with AD owning harderus and DC owning bow now and EP owning chill that only leaves thornblade to pvp on and if ur actually homed there u are screwed. I feel the other part of the EP faction resentment comes from the large population of EU/Aussie players what SHOULD be on an EU server however they take advantage of time differences and log on when everyone else is asleep and wipe the map red unopposed. And I cant even count the number of EP players who post that they want things fixed and want competive servers and don't agree with the EU guilds wipeing maps, however a lot of them are right there defending their buff campains or helping the Eu players if they are up late on the weekends. Please don't confuse what im saying other factions do it also. but none to the extent that EP does. I myself am AD and I refuse to home haderus for the buffs. I am an avid pvper. and I truly enjoy competive balanced pvp. I don't agree with the buff servers I don't place troll camps and i also don't cry for help from ppl from other campains to stop a 10 man group from trying to create a scenario on the map. i am currently homed on blues bow of shadows server and try every day to poek the walls and make them come out and play. and just like when it was a red server 60 come out to stop 5. we need balanced pvp servers. please ZENIMAX fix this .

its actually fun, I just wrote something similar to OP in another thread, just not with so many words:

For me, it should be sticking with your choices for home/quest campaign, until campaign is over

I just think the entire buff system needs to be reworked instead of flat passives to proximity based buffs.

Near a scroll? Great, get a bonus (if your alliance holds it).

In your home keep? Get a buff.

    And so on.

This will make for some interesting dynamic gameplay instead of the PVE zergs PVDooring and emptying campaigns, overpowering a dominant alliance, and so on.

Are you seriously saying my OP was me QQ'ing when I openly stated that all three factions are guilty of wanting a buff campaign?

That the whole problem lies in the design of the current PvP buffs system?

I have a lot of respect for your guild TSYM - we have enjoyed our fights against you on Chillrend - but coming here and claiming the OP is a QQ just does not make a whole lot of sense. EHJ did not leave Chillrend for sweeter pastures or a more balanced server. It's rather enjoyable to retake the map each evening and out smart...out play...and out maneuver the massive EP zerg that now inhabits the server. We gain a lot of AP and rank up quickly - but there is a serious morale issue in the non guild groups that get formed up in zone chat because they are outnumbered ALL the time. Sure, good guild groups with tactics, leadership, proper group synergy and talented players running the right class setups will always blow up zergs - but - the guys who are not using voice comms, out to have fun, join up any old group they can get an invite to - they get out numbered and it's very frustrating for them. That leads to less of them around...which leads to less PvP for everyone....which eventually if you play that out....leads to a dead PvP scene.

    Is that what you want?

The most hilarious part of all of these sorts of threads is the number of NA posters who seem to think that Australia=EU for timezones. Is geography not taught in your schools anymore?

I didn't see anyone say that specifically, perhaps I missed that. Unless your assumption is that in these threads raging at the colossal population differences during oceanic tz, some people suggest that the EU server was a mistake.

Not because they think they're the same, but it would create, in theory, a more buffered transition between time-zones if we're all on the same one. So there's not a 5-10 hour period of every day that's locked-1 bar-1 bar, maybe cut that in half.
