Emperor Farming will kill this game

While it probably happens to some extent in all campaigns, I've not seen it in the big ones (Wabba and now Thornblade)...but on many of the other campaigns, guilds go to them for the specific purpose to farm Emperor. They are very vocal about it in chat. Don't attack this keep, it's AD's turn. Don't attack that one, it's DC's turn. They swap back and forth and collude with other Alliances to open gates for scroll runs. I don't think that is what the developers had in mind when they designed this system.

If you take this out to it's ultimate end, you will have those guilds with huge numbers of former EMPs using their EMP line to farm high end content and create a great divide between the haves and the have not. I don't like playing against folks that are stronger than I am because they've exploited and gotten rewarded for it. But, under the current game design that is exactly how it is happening.

My question, why do former EMP's have a skill line at all? If they keep it (and I don't think they should) then why do they get to use it outside the specific Cyrodiil Campaign they earned it in? Can someone from ZOS answer that question please?

A bit dramatic don't you think? People that farm emperor won't kill the game. I am a former emperor and I can honestly say all the passives aren't noticeable at all except the 5% reduction in ultimate cost. Everything else we get is a 1% boost... do you realize how small 1% is?

Zenimax saw this problem and did a pretty good job at fixing it so far (it is an ongoing process). They lowered the number of campaigns so if anything there are only a few guilds that able to pull this off currently. I am sure Zenimax will adjust it more in time to further solve the issue, but I don't think this is as serious as you are making it out to be in its current state.
If you like small group PvP (2-4 players) and solo PvP check out my video ;)https://youtube.com/watch?v=jechGImtFio

SPOILER: The first 40 seconds of the video contains a scene from the final Molag Bal boss fight!

So since the former Emp line is such a small boost and essentially useless, you wouldn't mind giving it up? I'll count on your support.

It wont kill the game, but its pretty annoying. I agree, emps/former emps should not get their buffs outside of the campaign they earned it in. but honestly, we have bigger problems to deal with right now than dealing with emp farming. the devs, in my opinion, have done a good job at fighting it. iv tried 3/5 of the campaigns, and none of them were being used for emp farming(course that may have changed) lets turn our attention toward bigger problems, like the damage problems this game is having right now(attacks hitting for 5K plus damage) people getting behind closed gates, and the people that have used more serious exploits(how the heck do players do trials in 7 minutes?:/)

it won't 'kill' the game for the following reasons:

it has already killed off a large number of players and campaigns

what in essence you have left are the 'survivors':
a number of 'elite' influential guilds who emperor farmed (and partook in a number of other exploits) who tell everybody else to stfu and l2p
a number of other guilds that are aware of it but grit their teeth and hope for things to get better
a number of players/guilds who are oblivious to the fact or don't give two poos about it

ZOS has NOT 'done a pretty good job of fixing it so far'

in fact they have have been atrocious and appalling at addressing it in anything close to resembling a timely and effective manner

a good job regarding ALL PvP issues would see us growing from the10 original campaigns, to 15 or 20

the fact that we are down to 5, with 1.4 we will be at 4 campaigns, and in reality would be best off with just 1 30-day nonVR campaign and 2 30-day 'mixed' campaigns like Thornblade

condensing what remains of the player base into a couple of campaigns has not addressed the issue in any shape form or fashion - it has just made it more difficult - but as you can see, even with these few campaigns it still goes on - including the nonVR campaign

what is more frustrating than anything else is that the player community has been appealing to ZOS about this for close to THREE MONTHS now

the sheer fact that we are going to shrink to 4 campaigns and this is still an issue is pathetic

i'm going to cut myself off from further comments in this post to save you all listening to me rant about how a company has been able to take a game with such HUGE PvP potential and flushed it down the crapper

I am hoping the PvE side at least is thriving and keeping this venture afloat financially

You know there is something far worst than emperor farming.

You can see it on Haderus (NA) a 7 day campaign that has had the same emperor for 17 days now. The AD locked it up 17 days ago, that's right the same emperor for 3 campaign scoring periods in a row. Because AD has locked up the campaign the EP and DC players barely even make an appearance. When they do it is never with enough numbers or coordination to take it for themselves.

I would like to be emperor even it is only for 5 mins just for the dye (I didn't know of the skill line). But since the "enemy" can't depose the current one there is no way for my an other AD player to get it. Yes I could try to get it on another server I have neither the time to grind out the AP points I'll need to be emperor for those servers. And because I can't find an enemy to kill I can't even earn enough AP to transfer my home server.

I also heard an nasty rumor that the current emperor isn't even playing the game anymore. Like I said it might just be just a rumor of some troll looking to stir some crap up, but the main point stands. You can't farm emperor if the other sides can't even get out of their starting areas.

I imagine once Zeni gets all their bugs ironed out as far as ability balancing/bugged dmg and server stability they'll turn an eye to Emperor. What I would like to see is have them do a global purge and wipe the slate clean. I'm fairly certain those who earned emperor 'legitimately' as in fighting balls-to-the-wall to conquer the map and holding it for an extended period of time can admit that it's lost its value. I would like to see Zeni make it to where only the 'winning' emp of a camp gets bestowed with the buffs. If you're crowned emp mid-camp and get deposed, you can get a gag title called "Pretender" but that's it. No dye no outfit, you'll go down in history as one of those scrubs who tried for the throne and couldn't shake it.

Limiting the potential for any former buffs should encourage both the controlling faction to maintain vigil and keep fighting to hold the ring as well as the opposing factions to strip it away, making sure conflict remains stable.

You remember how I think in the first week Zeni had a "Emperor showcase' article, and they planned to show off more players who earned 'such a coveted honor'?

We don't see those anymore. For good reason.

As far as Haderus....we have tried, oh LORD we have tried. We try and try and try and it just never works. First week of new camps EP was able to field about 50 or so players, but AD always had more, then they had their emp, who used one of those cheeseball aoe spam builds and never died unless everyone in the group had soul assault and used it at the same time. I even spotted some 'former emps' guesting on EP side, and they couldn't stand against Sura and her army of bananas. I haven't seen her in a few days, but the thing is I'm fairly certain if EP does make a hardcore push to the inner ring, she'll pop up to put the kibosh on anything. DC has about entirely given up on playing period, but the sad thing is if they committed and put pressure on AD as well, both DC and EP might be able to get some traction, but they can't. And so the remaining players get discouraged and give up or go somewhere else.

What really honks me off is there's still people whining that they need more campaigns because they sit on their thumbs waiting hours on end to queue into Thornblade or Chillrend. Why. They could be doing something in any of the other unbalanced campaigns but no they'd apparently rather jump in the zerg pool.

Currently AD is about 30k on scoring with EP about 800 or so...DC hasn't passed double digits since reset. In fact they sat at 0 for a good couple days after reset.

Emp farming did much to poison the water for everyone, and Zeni responded far too late to save the environment. If they had taken a stance and considered it a violation of CoC or an exploit, we wouldn't be at this state today. But they let everyone take a dump in the pool and expect the people left behind to treat it like a spa. I've heard plenty other MMO's put their foot down when it comes to people using game mechanics to achieve a massive advantage over anyone else.

Why was it so hard for ESO and Emperor?

No that AD Emperor is alive and well helping the 30 day AD campaign succeed more lately. See even when not in your home campaign you keep all emperor benefits, which is a horrible idea.

I'm myself a former emperor, and besides the 5% cheaper ultimates, and maybe the 2% more Stamina and Magicka-regeneration, there's basically no benefit from it.

I played 1 weak up to 18h per day, and did it, because I wasn't informed well enough, I thought I'd actually get a 1-2% stat-increase, so Magicka, Health and Stamina.

After finding out, that my stats are basically completely the same to normal players, I regretted having invested so hard into the game. 5% cheaper Ultimates are nothing, with the 25 points of Ultimate from every kill by the Assault Rank 10 ability, and 2% regeneration is probably about 1 cast in a prolongued fight.

Personally, I'd have no problem in giving up those bonuses, if they'd let me wear the emperor dress even as former emperor, it, the dye and the title are imho more rewarding than "the bonuses" .

Thx to Giny, Sarana, Thaili, Derra, Cherahim, Gloy, Raweelz and Drimacus, you make the game worth playing even with AoE-caps, no usefull progression past Assault / Support Rank 10, and with PvP being not even close to balanced.

    No, you dont.

On any other campaign than your own you get the passives that any FORMER emperor would get.
