The option that's missing is "depends on the setting".
In a group I'm more likely to expect others to rez. themselves, if you're going to 'group up' and not be prepared to die stop leeching off others for soul gems.
In the open world I'll likely do so if the player was obviously unfortunate by, say, getting mobbed due to unlucky repsawns, but if someone clearly pulled them then couldn't kill them .. death is a great teacher.
One thing though is it's very, very rare for the player you rez. to even say 'thanks' .. I love playing FFXI where rzzers are almost always thanked in some way .. I don't do it for the 'thanks', obviously, but I guess FFXI spoiled me for a community feeling which is nigh on entirely absent in ESO.
It depends on my mood which in turn depends on the last person I rezzed. If someone rezzes me, I always shoot them a quick 'thanks' and offer to reimburse their gem. Some people thank me, but many don't. When I don't get even the hint of a bit of gratitude, I will likely not rez anyone else that play session unless it's a buddy I'm grouped with.
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend, my Shining Light. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.
I have no problem using my soul gems to rez anybody for any reason if I have them.
Soul gems are easy enough to come by that I don't feel a need to hoard them and be selfish with them. People rezzing fellow players in Cyrodiil can be the difference between a successful siege and a failed one. That being said most people are pretty stingy with their gems in Cyrodiil sadly.

As a templar I'll almost rezz anybody (im mostly in cyrodiil) if I can see we need more men - if our grp is facing overwhelming odds, ill not rezz of course. Now if I hadnt the templar passive, I would probably conserve my resses to a few good captain rank+ players and not a lvl 33 who just got ganked, now I just toss resses around.

...and specific situation.
If I'm fighting with others in AvA, it doesn't matter if we are in the same group/guild/contact list, I rezz them if I can; I think it's a fair participation to the combat and could be the difference between success or fail.
In PvE, I can rezz in dungeons, but I avoid it in the wild, cause I dont know if I am about to rezz someone AFK who will die again and again, breaking his gear. And if he's not AFK, resurrect at shrine is not a big deal.
Situation specific, I'll rez our healer if it comes down to it, but people should really rez themselves.
I use them for myself and my friends in my group. I don't mind resurrecting people in a group dungeon though, provided they're not dying randomly due to their own ignorance. But I don't just resurrect everyone I see otherwise.
Sorry for another poll, but another thread had me wondering what the consensus was on using soulgems to rez others. I felt like maybe I was out of sync with everyone else.
Situation specific.
Ideally, I think if you walk up to rez someone, it should pull from their soulgem stock first. You're doing them the favor or not having them have to walk, (and likely helping them with whatever handed them their butt), and they always have the option of No-thankyou.
I do not keep a vast breadth of gems on my person, so I will likely only be able to rez one level above or below my character.
If I have it, and situation warrants, I'll rez someone I see. There should be XP's or benefit, or at least an achievement out of it though.
If I do run with a lower level group, I ask them to give me some gems to use. I tell them, odds are, you won't die while I'm here, and you can have your gems back at the end.
I'd keep alll levels of gems on me if you could use lower level gems to charge higher level gear without having to do it one painful click at a time.

Wait--you can revive other players? Whenever I see someone dead, with the little plus symbol over their corpse, I run right up to them---and stand there while I charge all my weapons.
Isn't that what the little plus symbol is? A reminder to charge your stuff while standing on the dead person's head?
Live and learn I guess.

I usually allocate some for use in a group, always save the rest, and its situational outside of a group
When in group I always rez group members who dies, unless its in pve and near a wayshrine. its situational if I rez or not as it depends on who died, who have aggro etc, but I dont mind reizing ppl.
In pvp I rez people all the time as I see them die, though mostly only vr1-12. Low level players I dont always rez and if I do, I prioritize them after the dead vr players.
1 rez = 100-120 gold (if you buy soul gems) and in most cases its worth rezing even if you dont know the person.
Never bought a soul gem, however, I have 4-500 that I have farmed and gained myself trough dungeons, chests and more.

I will be less likely to rez someone I see making really dumb choices (not avoiding AoE for example) but otherwise I'm always willing to attempt a rez if I have gems

I have so many effing soul gems I have no problem handing them out or using them for rezzing people especially if they are in my party. A lot of times I go to rez someone they already got it and cancel out my rez so...basically I try.

All the time if I have the gem, and usually I will. It doesn't matter who the player is, all I see is a white plus that needs me to hit F. I've run out of gems on both dungeons and PvP doing this. The only time I hold back is when we have a FC still up or the player is low enough level for a free rez. Okay, I've done once or twice even then.
