Do some PvP. You would own in the non vet campaign since you are so close to 50. It would be a change of pace for you and you might enjoy it.
If you like small group PvP (2-4 players) and solo PvP check out my video ;)https://youtube.com/watch?v=jechGImtFio

SPOILER: The first 40 seconds of the video contains a scene from the final Molag Bal boss fight!

Re-evaluate the skills your using. I found that you have to be using skills that disrupt the mob your fighting - not just dps skills. Also you should be using some kind of "survival" skill - like some kind of deflection, shielding or health regeneration.

Can't move on until you do the main quest line anyway.
Honestly, you should not be having this much trouble with the solo quests in 1-50.

Post you complete build (attributes and skills), equipment, etc.

I've been through this 3 times with a NB, DK, and Temp.

EDIT: I believe that we can help you.

PvP is a good option to explore.

I assume you have all the world bosses, delves, and public and instanced dungeons under your belt, right? If you don't, those can be good options.

It would also be nice to know what build you are working with, and what you are open to. I don't want to tell you what to do, but maybe I can offer advice for where you are stuck.

okay a few things. You can get the Undiscovered addon to tell you places you have not yet done things at, and you may find you are missing some stuff.

Also, pvp is very much a viable option, I know someone who was in vet levels before he finished the main storyline because he was doing a lot of pvp.

I was VR1 or 2 when I finished the main quest. I didn't intentionally grind, but I did go into Cyrodiil to look for skyshards and do some quests, as well as dungeons when I could group with friends.
I remember I hit 50 when I was doing the first few quests in Coldharbour, and still had about 2/3 of it left.

As others suggested, you may have missed quests along the way. Good luck!

Level 48 is definitely sufficient for the main quests, no matter how sucky you think you are.

btw, you don't need to finish guild quests to advance to vet zones, you just need to finish prophet's main quest line, and all quests received in cold harbour after message to tamrial.

post screenshot of your attribute, and skill used, skill ranks, we can help you for sure.

So i'll start right off here with my specs: 48 Nightblade, Full Bow & assassin Spec. Decent gear, do Alchemy.

My situation is an odd one. First I am stuck at level 48, that is unless I want to purely grind mobs in CH, which I don't.

So, does anyone have any idea of how I can finish off the last 2 levels?

I had this same issue prior to the patch. Now my NB is doing his job with Melee. However, Bow is still not as strong as it needs to be, but I hear the Snipe Skill is bugged right now to give obscene damage as you use it over time. I have not tried this, but that will take out the bosses you can't handle.

Also, what you can do is use the Bow skill that Knocks enemies back, then use Siphon on them until they either approach or attempt to cast/power attack, then knock them back again. Doing this will let you prevail in the Arena. I have done this on fights prior to the patch with good results.

But, you need a Melee Attack, 1H/S or better, Dual Wield to really leverage a NB into a DPS Burst Machine.

Since you do Alchemy, make some spell or melee crit potions and quaff those in the arena, couple that with a Cloaked then Hidden Weapon attack, and anyone in the Arena will die quickly.

As for the MQ, Sancre Tor was a bigger fight than Molag Bal, and the trick with that is to not get the adds involved. They will just stand there unless you get close. And, let the Companions do most of the work keeping things occupied. As for Molag, use your Bow and Siphon and never stop moving and you will win that fight. Just go backwards or sideways in a circle and avoid the red circles. Not all of his adds even attack, so you only have 3 or 4 to deal with during that stage, then it's all running backwards in a circle spamming light attacks and Siphon.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

A 48 NB should not have any issues with the remaining Main and Guild quests. The only Main quest that is tricky is Mannimarco, after that it's easy peasy. The Fighters guild should not be any trouble either.

But to give any real advice, we'll need more information about your build and specs (decent gear is highly subjective and vague). Few things I would like to know... Do you have any Siphoning skills? What Shadow skills do you have? What kind of armor are you wearing? Which armor passives do you have? Are your armor pieces looted or crafted? What traits and enchantments does your armor (and weapons) have? What's your secondary weapon line?

You should always walk away from the PC if you get upset/agitated before deleting a character. The world would be a much better place if people stopped an counted to 10 before reacting. Not a personal attack, but if you spent the time to level to 48, even if an alt, I'm not sure deleting reactively is a best approach.

I've been playing Bow/Bow NB since I started ESO, so here's some solo tips.

First, CC is your friend. Knockback and stun enemies as much as possible so you can charge up heavy attacks or Snipe from afar. Sneaking in from behind can be critical to gain those first few seconds. Use the Venom Arrow morph to interrupt any spells you don't want to dodge.

Since you're assassination, use the Impale morph to execute enemies at a distance. Be wary of using Mark Target. Only use it on enemies you know you can defeat quickly or without any hits on you at all.

If it's a boss immune to your CCs and knockbacks, make sure to look up the fight beforehand. If it's main quest trouble, maybe you're on Mannimarco? The mechanics of that fight are notoriously tricky, and you HAVE to do the main quest to move on.

That's about all I can give without more specifics.

Edit: Man, I didn't see the updates before I came back and clicked 'post.'

Yup. A respec and building up new skills would be faster and more efficient than starting over from scratch. In the order of magnitudes.

    How is your crafting?

Are you able to make level 48 gear? If so I would start there. Another aspect is that you should have some type of Crowd Control on your bar. A lot of problems by players come from the lack of interrupts so that healer mobs just heal up all the time and you run out of Stamina or Magicka.

It would also help if you get buffs which suit the mission you want to do. So if you fight a melee boss, get buffs that up your armor - if you fight a caster like a wizard up your spell resistance.
    -
You will find those shrines all around Tamriel.

I would also advice to use buff food, I tend to go with stamina or magika reg food, but there are a lot of options to choose from.

If you can, having a healing spell wont hurt either. I tend to have one at all my chars, even a small heal can help.

    Good Luck!

As another NB, I had some of the same struggling issues you did. I tried PvP as others suggested and HATED it because it's so completely imbalanced it's not fun. It won't help much against soloing PvE content anyway.

Here's what I did to fix my issues:

    1- Your gear does matter.
Up your gear to the next level. If it's green, make it blue. If it's blue, make it purple. How do you do that? You're going to have to do some resource collection. My suggestion is to run around Coldharbour, or the last zone of your alliance. Collect mats. If you're medium armor, you get the added benefit of getting exp while killing mobs for hide. If you're heavy or light, just find those nodes and harvest. Make sure you have points in unraveling/metal extraction. This helps you get more tempers from refining the raw mats. Seriously, spend 3 hours in one game session doing nothing but getting mats. Get like 500 raw mats (I recommend 1000). Go refine them. You'll have PLENTY of tempers to last you a long while, if you have 3 points in unraveling/metal extraction. (Getting 1000 raw ore took me 4 hours the day I did it.) Make your gear count. You're probably not losing battles by much, so make every item count. Upgrade what you have so you don't lose enchantments, but consider getting set gear to gain the additional bonuses.

2- Get a close range weapon skill set.
You might think your bow + NB skills are fine, but you need to mix it up when you've hit a wall. I recommend getting a blade line (dual wield, sword and board, or the like). Bow is great for one-shotting and knockback to keep mobs off you. You can get 95% of mobs with it. But there's a few (bosses mostly) where knockback doesn't work, trying to kite the mob won't help because their reach/AoEs, and close in you can't use some skills like sniping shot. You need to be able to swap to a close range weapon to up your DPS when you're no longer effective with your bow. Diversify. Then wail on the bad guy. Learn to block and roll-dodge to not take the hit.

3- Resource manage with top potions.
    • Restore Health+magicka+stamina: Bugloss, mountain flower, columbine.
Gets you recovery of all three attributes at once.
    • Increase Spell Power + Restore Magicka + Spell Crit: Cornflower, lady's smock, water hyacinth.
Increases spell crit for your skills and the damage they do.
    • Increase Weapon Power + Restore Stamina + Weapon Crit: Blessed thistle, dragonthorn, water hyacinth.
Increases weapon crit for your weapons and the damage they do.
Consider how you use these. You need to practice a bit. You can goto town on one attribute (skills that drain all your magicka) then pop the spell potion, get magica back while you wail with weapons (draining all your stamina) then pop the weapon potion. You can wail magicka at the beginning along with a load of stamina and pop that first potion to recover both (you don't get the crits). You need to play with those 3 potions in use versus what skills/weapons you're using in sequence.

4- Get shadowy disguise and sneak attack.
It helps you hide a bit, gives you a chance to put some distance in between you and the bad guy, and can give you that added crit to do that little more damage you need.

Here's one of my strategies for any boss or really tough mobs. I've taken out world bosses with 50k health points solo doing this.

Start off sneaking (crouched), activate shadowy disguise, and launch that first attack. You've got 2 options here. Sneak in with your melee weapons and get the critical hit of sneak attack with a melee weapon, or use snipe shot with the bow. If it's a Daedra or undead, use the fighter's guild skill expert hunter (i prefer the camo hunter morph). I can crouch, camo hunter, shadowy disguise, sneak attack with a sword and get over 3k damage in one hit to daedra/undead. So, decide your opening. It's the best damage you can get in the fight. You can make a 9k boss be a 6k equivalent of fighting 2 bad guys in just your opening.

DPS! After your opener, do your initial DPS assault and drain one of your ability pools. Drain it! I typically rely on rapid strikes (melee) attack with my dual wield, which I use to take my stamina to zero. I still have magicka = skills!

After your opener, pop a potion. I usually do the weapon potion. I get the critical for my weapon and i get some stamina back. I need more stamina though. So, shadowy disguise. I do that to give myself 2 seconds of repositioning and recharge. I get behind the bad guy and hit him with another sneak attack. Then I pop off a few more melee hits to use that crit from the potion.

Most fights are over and done with by now if the bosses are less than 10k health. For the ones that arent, I basically rinse and repeat, altering what pool i drain with what attacks.

Works very similar if I start out with bow instead of dual wield. I'll use draining shot twice to knock them back and stun them a second, crate the space i need to use snipe shot.

At the end of this, you'll have learned a couple things...
How to survive against diverse attack and damage types.
How to maximize using your resource pools for targeted attack types.
How to balance your dodge, duck, dip, dive, dodge, moves against attacking and resource management.
How to gauge when your equipment if failing you and making it work for you.
And that you can do it yourself, that your build is good enough, and you don't need to get pummeled by other players in an imbalanced, unfun system, to figure out what you need to do.

    Good luck!
