Will you cancel your subscription if the VR14 change is launched?

Hi all,

I rarely am one for rage-posts and in most cases I'm a fairly peaceful forum lurker, however this recent news of the incoming increase to VR ranks has really effected my desire to play this game any longer.

Many of us have already spoken our minds in other threads on this topic however I think it's important that ZOS understands how strongly some of us feel about this topic.

I will be cancelling my subscription if I feel that I am in any way forced to grind gear and/or further VR levels to competitively PvP.

What will you be doing and why?

Isn't the "seasonal gear" system going to be a gear grind regardless?

While the vet cap is being increased in 1.4, there were no statements saying that the champion system has stopped development...

The excuse is lame anyways, I've seen people on #1 rank of campaigns (so they could become emperors) who weren't even VR10 and you can level up by PVPing so...

@MeowGinger‌ - can you grind a full set of legendary gear in PvP? How long would this take to obtain?

@magnusnet‌ - we all know the emperor system is a terrible example... Emperor flipping is so common now that you're almost out of place if you don't have the title of "Former Emperor" in some campaigns...

I chose no because I don't care. I will eventually get to what ever rank they make it. Also I like taking my time on stuff listening to the quests enjoying the environments. I started as EP but are now in AD aka 50++ and only v6 but I am still enjoying this game and you know what I always will. Even if a few updates are mainly group stuff. What I'm looking for is enjoyment which I am getting and a lot of bug fixes are slowly coming with each update. I will admit some things do break with them as well but they DO get fixed.

But they all have released new tiers of gear every few months or so. The fact that they didn't raise the level cap along with the gear level means nothing.

Maybe it will be possible to grind those VR lvls quite fast , anyway , better wait and see.

I agree , zen trying to break the record here , by the time we see the champ system they will be at VR20.

The level cap increase from time to time is actually what keeps me playing. I don't want to play another gear grinder where all my progress becomes worthless with each update.

At ZO we actually have a steady char progression just like it should be.

Nope, if anything it means more goals added to my list of things keeping me playing.

The thing is, veteran rank progression is worthless. I'm not opposed to the change, but I see why it upsets some people.

There are some MMOs out there who dont need to raise their level to stay interesting.

E.g. UO, Meridian, Guild Wars 1, (GW2), Mortal, Darkfall

If you implement interesting content you dont need to raise the level because content will be fun to play.
Raising levels is just to keep people ingame when your content isnt worth playing just for the fun you have while doing so.

Not immediately. I shall progress to V10ish and then since lower Craglorn will be a desert and I shall be unable to progress further (I don't enjoy PvP) I shall probably unsubscribe and do something else for a bit. Who knows sooner or later they may get something right.

You can't grind a full set of legendary gear anywhere at this point in time... I'm not sure what your point is? We don't know how seasonal gear will be implemented, just that in order to be competitive we'll have to replace it every few/couple of months, and that each season will be more powerful than the last.

The veteran grind and resetting of year every single month just isn't sustainable.

I'd like to keep playing - was really looking forward to small group content in Dragonstar Arena - but knowing that any progress I make in there will have such a short shelf life makes it not worth even starting.

Hopefuy Watch Dogs can tide me over until Dragon Age, and then hopefully ESO stabilzes with a realistic end game plan.

    Right now it is indeed.

That's why they work on the champion system, in future we will be able to spend points earned by VRs. They showed this at Quakecon and it looked pretty good if you ask me.

Their mistake was to release the VR 14 notes before the Road Ahead with the champion system so that people think that the only benefit of VR 14 is the access to the trial or the Arena, while in reality the benefit will be much bigger once the champion system is in place.

Bad timing by ZO and a lot of confusion among its customers.

The fact they don't raise the level cap MEANS EVERYTHING.

In WOW my level 90s CAN WEAR EVERY ITEM OF GEAR IN THE GAME (that is allowed to my class), in FFXI my level 99s can wear any item in the game, etc., THAT IS ONE OF THE THINGS A LEVEL CAP MEANS.

In ESO that only applies live to VR12 and PTS VR14.

Ultima Online has no levels but a skill system. So that you as a player raise and lower skills after your desire. You can say that you never stop leveling there even though the game has no levels ;)

@FunkheaD‌: Emperor system is not a terrible example, the only example you need is to know that people who where VR7 (I supose they don't play PVE much) managed to get enough AP to be in the top of the leaderboards so VR ranks don't really matter, Skill and a good team to play with does.

Oh and I just can't WAIT for all the rage we will see in the forums when people start crying because they don't have time/skill/level to get the seasonal sets right away and it's unfair because people who are competitive/skilled or play 10 hours a day have the sets. Just can't wait.

Tell me, how would your WoW character do if you tried to wear your dungeon gear in Siege of Orgrimmar?

It doesn't matter that you can wear the gear. By adding new tiers of it, they make your old tiers effectively worthless. And don't even get me started on how much easier ESO has made this by giving you access to effective crafting options.

    The facts are these:

-The difference between VR12 and VR14 will be the same as the difference between VR10 and VR12. Not a whole lot.
-An epic or legendary set of VR12 gear will be plenty good for tackling Upper Craglorn content as you start getting new gear to replace it.
-Every MMO adds gear progression on a regular basis. The attachment of a level cap raise really doesn't make a difference unless you're simply looking for something to whine about.

Watch Dogs was a failure of a game :/ you're better of playing ESO else you'll have even more things to do to catch up (which is the reason you're leaving).

I have no problem with ZOS rising the level. Just a few skill points, I can craft VR14 gear, thus crafting has meaning instead of everyone and their mother is a master crafter.

My point is that vertical gear progression will eventually render stat choice and player skill completely useless.

I guess I hoped this game would have skill centric PvP and be accessible to those with family and work commitments.
