Didn't like it even after hearing good things. Glad it's still kicking though. Might need to wait a few months to get more Content from ESO. And there is nothing wrong with that.......

It is F2P now so I stuck my head in it a few month s ago. My toons were still there. Played for 30 minutes. It still sucked.

I guess it sucked if you just don't like that style of online game anymore.
I only quit because high school ended and i... uh... traded my account to help pay for my first car in 2004

Besides the dated graphics it still has that charm. The player base is no where near where it was a decade ago, but the nostalgia factor is there for me.
I doubt this will be a big commitment from me, i think it was one of those "I have extra cash and I'm bored, let me take a peak" moments. I have a friend who might start again, would be fun to explore with someone after not visiting for 10 years!

Anyway, I just am not getting the Social experience i wanted with this game. I've spent most of my time since Early Access soloing content.

Needed something to break the monotony.

Played for 4 months just before ESO came out with a bunch of friends that came back. We did a few expansions that came out after we left, never quite caught up to the current endgame (and just missed the free bump to lvl 80 or whatever they did by leveling past it anyway).

We had fun.

But we were playing pretty regularly with a full group and only soloing a bit on the edges.

Ya i don't even have a decent sized group of friends to play with, just one other who i convinced it might be fun the other night... Ah to spend a day in Tower of Frozen Shadow again...

I figured the only way I would be able to see some of these places that I'm sure are near 0 populated now (they're up to the 20th expansion, geeeze..) would be with someone who shared my wander-lust. If i can convince him to come back we might just Duo everything possible, maybe spend a day in one zone, then go to another, just to revisit an old camp site :P

This is the kind of nostalgia no other online game can provide me.
I feel if ESO put more focus on roles and players PLAYING together, i wouldn't feel how i do about ESO. Right now though, I'm bored just soloing stuff. Thats not what i play MMOs for.

I would be interested in playing this, however my Install discs no longer work for EQ and i thought i read you must use them to install, not the patcher.

Although I'm sure someones compiled a Download somewhere

I go back to live about once a year in the fall around expansion time just to see the new stuff. Lots of changes but it's still a great game. You simply won't find another game with the depth of building a character like that One, even though they have made the game a lot easier over the years.

If you are really interested in old school EQ, I highly recommend the classic emu Project 1999. It's been a work in progress for almost 5 years and they've done an amazing job with it. Velious is coming soon.

Installed EQ Titanium last night and got P99 all setup....

I gotta admit, I almost stayed up all night....

I wonder what it is... That little ingredient (or combination of them) that make EQ so in depth and new after returning a decade later. Yes nostalgia helps, but if it was purely nostalgia i wouldn't have run the risk of staying up too late last night like i was still in High School.

I dunno, I love ESO still, but when a decade-and-a-half game still grabs my attention quicker than ESO, that can't be a good sign?

Used to love EQ... then Planes of Power killed off all the major cities. From bustling hubs to barren ruins in one x-pac. Besides, my group is long gone to the four winds so no more grinding LDoN.

Yup, LDON was the bomb, favorite expansion to this date. Too bad it was short lived, I don't think its done anymore either...

I was playing until a couple years ago. Playerbase sucks, but it can be fun until the shininess wears off. It's pretty much in maintenance mode at this point, though.
