So... I am a little confused about the arena system....

So, they already have arenas setup and working, and they use it for trade shows...

Why can't ZOS just take those files, put them in the Update 4 build, and release some form of arenas through that and then expand upon it on a later date? They could add it into a separate section in the PvP menus for queuing, perhaps under a separate category under "Campaigns" and just re-name "Campaigns" to "PvP" or something along those lines?

I mean, I personally love the idea of having arena combat in ESO, but I don't have the time/money to travel to trade shows to get to do it... plus spending that much money to travel just to arena PvP seems a bit silly, but if they already have a version of an arena system working.

I would much rather they just add that in then expand upon it later so that I can at least enjoy that style of PvP and have some more stuff to do in ESO.

They wanted the large scale PVP to be the main focus. They found out how popular Arena style PVP is and want to implement it without it detracting from the large scale PVP. So they will add it when they know it won't be the only thing people are doing.

Ehh, I would still like to see it added in as it is now then expanded upon, really wanting to do some closed small PvP stuff, I don't do a lot of Cyrodiil because big massive PvP isn't always my thing.

Can't wait until they ruin this game with arenas. It's going to be great.
Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

If they can find a way to implement small scale combat, with quick matches for those of us who don't have hours to play, I'm all for it. It's so hard to do what shooters do.

Of course, you'd have to somehow ignore every single poster quoting the WoW dev about how much they failed at class balance for years and how they blame it all on Arenas. There will be a lot of those.

Cause you know, if WoW can't do it, it can't be done.

Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

So they are holding off on a feature because people will like and play it?
    Developers, this is your mentality....

Arenas is definitely something I look forward too. I must admit I miss that adrenaline kick from wow.

This game needs some kind of smaller scale PvP, lets face it, players have been asking for this since the start and as the OP said it obviously already exists.

as I said in another post

yes, but nothing bigger than 16 v16 v16.

For those PvPers that played RIFT, something like Port Scion. At least then it would keep within the ESO storyline as we could have the three factions battling for control of a town (or something)

    :)

Smaller would be good too, 8v8v8 or 12 v12 v12, jst so we have something different from Cyrodiil.
It's not that I wouldn't go to Cyrodiil, I would, but players don't always have the time to invest in a larger battle. Sometimes we just have like 15-20 mins spare so a quick-fix PvP arena would be great

    :)

Just because you go to Cyrodiil does not mean youa re forced to do big massive PVP. I dont know why people have this mind set. is it because other games hold your hand and create a match for you? Cyrodiil has everything, go away from the big massive PVP and go to the bridges or gates and do some 1v1 or 3v3 skirmishes. Set up along a road and do ambushes, remember everyone can sneak. You can even just ranodmly explore teh enemy lands doing PVE and fight thos random enemy players doing the same or doing quest from the towns.

While this is fun, what most people seem to want is a mechanic for setting up a quick PvP match. What you suggested could potentially take a couple of hours.
