What are Epic and Renowned Recipes?

I don't see these terms on the recipes or tool-tips. I suspect that they mean blue or purple recipes, but want to be sure for the Achievements.

When looking at the Cooking Achievements, creating an epic or renowned item means making a blue or purple recipe item.5
