The Dye Implementation is Hideous

It is AMAZING! No matter what they do someone is going to complain about something. Instead of posting the hate, maybe post some suggestions.... I have suggested many things in the past during the beta and since and a lot of things I did in the /feedback and posted on the forums with actual solutions got implemented. They could fix everything tomorrow yet people would still not be satisfied.... ridiculous. The ability to dye is better than not even if you don't like the colors or they don't match up.

I was shocked when I saw this thread. I think the dye system in this game is one of the best things they've done! (Other then the inability to dye shields and weapons.)

I'm thinking perhaps people need to get some of the better achievements for some of the better dyes. I certainly don't think they're washed out:

I had many other fabulous looking choices as well, but settled on these colors. Mind you I've also dedicated some effort to getting some of the more difficult achievements, which is a good thing: it gives players new goals to strive for to unlock nicer looking dyes.

Those shoulders really do look upside-down to me lol.

I rarely complain about ZOS and tend to back up their actions, so while the topic is perhaps reactionary, I'm hardly one of the ones who complain about everything. Also they've stated they are fixing some of the messed up natural armor colors.

many of the armors here looks nice with the new dyes and all.
But if you try to use dye on a barbaric armor you will come to see why many here is not satisfied and outright hate the dye system.
barbaric style + dye system = so horrible that you want to poke out your own eyes. it is that bad.

Got to say I'm not liking the dyes in medium armour... firstly the base colour always shows through, and effects the final outcome after dying. Which probably wouldn't be so bad if everything weren't salmon pink in the first place!

Why not have a 'bleach' effect. that neutralises the base colour of anything you're wearing?

Also, the dyes look washed and worn out on leather when compared to heavy armour. Try as I might I couldn't get an acceptable 'coverage' on my armour last night..

Also why can't costume sets be dyed? Or even things like an arrow quiver?

Seems pretty par the course for this game, everything comes half baked!

I like it, every colour combo i have tried has turned out great of cloth, leather and metal armour.

Well, this was probably a last-hour change based on all that whining about "too vivid colors", "people are going to look like the power rangers" bullship.

Congratulations whiners, now everyone is wearing ugly, washed clothing.

Ugly in your opinion. I love the new colours; they're desaturated and dull, which is a breath of fresh air, at least to me.

As is the case with everything ever implemented, there will be those who dislike the change and those who welcome it. Don't assume everyone hates these new colours; and certainly don't base your opinions on the forum collective.

The irony here is that you're whining about the change then mocking those who whined in the first place.

I love how the colours are washed out. If you wore your best shirt out onto a muddied and blooded battlefield, I can assure you it wouldn't be the same shirt on your way out.

You wouldn't even need to spend time on a battlefield. Just spend most of your days out in the sun, snow and rain and your clothing will lose it's once vibrant glow.

The new system is gritty, and the subtle changes they made to the overall colour scheme put a smile on my face. If I wanted saturated colours I'd go back to Guild Wars, WoW or give Wildstar a go.

But by that logic the heavy armours should look battered scratched and dented.. but they don't.. and the colours are representative, not some pseudo wash that lets the 'pink' shine through as with medium armours.

I see your point. It would be better if all the armours were consistent. A lot of the armour types are cluttered with scratches though; especially the lower level stuff.

I like the dark Dyes, they tend to give the right color and actually look nice, same goes for most of the medium rangew colors.

Pale colors and especially white, i only have Varla white which is like cream white. Litle bit of yellow added to white. In most cloth i tried, it works in one part of cloth but in others in looks dirty. If i want to make a full wgite clothing, the end result is dirty. I hate it.

I hope there is white that actually colors the whole cloth rather than tint it white but i think all colors should be solid colors, no matter the quality of armor which does not seem affect very much either.

Okay I am fairly angry. I tested the dyes on pts but since we actually had to do the achievements there to get them, I didn't get to see most of them.

On plate, from what I can tell, the dyes look great.

On cloth and leather, they are a wash, and sometimes don't even come out as the right color. On my leather, my skyshard blue is light green.

You need to experiment a bit, but they do need a bit of tweeking. I wish they were as nice as the previews suggested.

I've given up with certain dyes on cloth, but I can find a few decent looks. Finding decent looks that match what my character should like, now that's tricky.

The only thing wrong with the Dye system is too many are attached to PVP, there are very few attached to any VR dungeons and there are tons of achievments in them.

On cloth and leather, they are a wash, and sometimes don't even come out as the right color. On my leather, my skyshard blue is light green.

Also, all the armor got changed, so now, my nice dunmer level 14 homespun outfit on my alt went from a very nice darkish blue grey and tan to that hideous newbie green. The green I had been avoiding desperately.

Only, I can't avoid it because I'm really just tinting leather and cloth. So I don't actually look good in anything unless I just want to wear heavy armor.

Oh, and my leather itself, it's fuchsia. It comes that way now. So I am putting a wash over fuchsia leather. It's almost pink really. I had to go with ruby throne red which I inexplicably have access to, because red is the only thing that works to wash out the fuchsia, anything else turns into green tints or purple.

I complained about this before, but there is also only one white in the entire system. Juliasnos white for trials. Every other white is a grey or light pink or light blue. I am staring at some people in julianos white on trial gear and it looks very white, probably because they are wearing plate.

I don't care about black, I want to wear white. I want to actually have a reason to dye my armor other than hiding the ugly that it has become.

Today's patch did mention gradients or something we can adjust in our Settings...won't change how OTHERS SEE YOU lol, but will change it on your system a "tad"...maybe.

The thing that worries me now, is that they will tweak the colours and the Colour combo of "Hundings Gold" and "Questers Yellow" will change. I was hunting for a Copper/Bronze Colour scheme and that combo on Imperial Iron Armour gives it.

As I like dark colors and generally one color throughout, the new dye system works for me. I vary between one decent black and a dark blue.

When I dyed my armor I immediately started to appreciate the Mannimarco costume I could wear on top to hide my ugly creation.
