Guild Store Kiosks: What do you think?

SFBryan18

I think they're good for the players who's guild places a huge blind bid to open their store to the public for a week, but what about the rest of us? Are we suppose to just spam zone chat or throw our stuff away? I feel kiosks were a great idea, but limiting them to giant guilds throwing blind bids seems to fail at what most of us really want. We want to place our items for sale at these kiosks, or at least that's what I want. What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of these kiosks, and what do you think can be done for the rest of us?

I'm actually an advocate of open, free trade and enjoy spamming zone chat with my buying and selling, I also check out kiosks for purchasing opportunities but find them to be incredibly expensive most of the time.

The strength of this system is that an item is still worth what people want to pay for it, not what groups of wealthy people decide they can manipulate it to for a quick buck. (As per a fairly well known click based game we probably all played at some point.)

The truth is the current system actually SAVES 'small business' rather than screwing us over, by creating a system where resources aren't freely available to all players, this creates profit in the crafting industry.

The blind bids also mean that anyone can win a guild store for a week-not just the richest guilds with last second outbidding. :disappointed_relieved:

I don't think 'the rest of us' need anything, but that's just my perspective. Selling on the free market, rather than a kiosk (no gold sink) will always make you slightly cheaper.

Not that I think gold sinks are a bad idea, they're awesome, I just don't want it to be MY gold o:)

I'm totally for them, and with the rotating vendors, it really means they are going to be options for more active guilds only.

And so far, shopping them hasn't been that hard at all. 110% improvement on the market system without betraying the original vision of an auction-house-less game.

    Thank you, Zenimax. Well done.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

For the most part, i am glad they are around. However, there is one in Glenumbra at Redoubt I think that comes close to blocking access to a NPC you need to talk to for a quest.

I'm happy enough with them. Being a member of 1 active trade guild, and having access to the kiosks, along with occasional trading, pretty much now covers it for me. I like the fact that it's a bit of a bargain hunt for things and not just a matter of standing in front of an AH NPC just automatically choosing along with everyone else the lowest priced cookie cutter armor.

I'm sorry but i'm still one who thinks this would benefit from a server-wide Auction house in each main city as going from Guild store Kiosks and still finding nothing or finding somthing that's way overpriced as no-one still knows what price sells for what, is why Everything is soo damn Overpriced.

yes i suppose we are getting closer to more players getting more options to sell server-wide but people in small guilds or guilds that don't have much gold its unfair.

tho i still cannot ever find the materials i need :(

    sorry but my opinion

    Hate them !

Just a sad attempt by Zenimax to recover something from the botched up farce we have of no Global AH !
The economy is still not dynamic, still fragmented and still restrictive !

    @ZOS_MattFiror @ZOS_PaulSage - the whole guild Store/Stall system sucks !
    - Just replace it with a Global AH (or even Factional AH system) and give this great game the great economy it deserves ! ! !

If they are going to stick with these individual guild kiosks, then they need to change something.

One possibility that they might consider is having huge market places with them, so that you can go to one place, and just browse form guild kiosk to guild kiosk.

Not perfect I know, but it would be an improvement over what we have at the minute.

I like them. I know there are some that hate this word (and therefore probably should play a different game), but they are much more immersive than a single global auction house.

I like them. I think some pricing is very fair and some is ridiculous, just like in the real world.

In particular, I like that you cannot go to a single list showing every item for sale in the game world, which would greatly reduce the game immersion for me. I like that you have to travel around hunting for items and bargains, which is very much in line with the way we travel hunting for quests and stuff. That's why we have our horsies. And feetsies.

I'm not in a guild so I can't sell stuff that way, but I'm okay with that. They are helping me find stuff that has traits I need to research. I also like the way the guild booths look: very cool.

Think about our Hirelings. They don't get to go to a single am-a-zon style site to buy the stuff they bring. Those poor bahstads go through all sorts of trouble to get our stuff. We should too. Maybe it will build our character like it has built theirs. I mean, I'd do anything to be like Pacrooti. That dude is sooo cool.

I thought they weren't such a good idea when they were first announced but now I realize that they're actually pretty nice. Getting a good sales spot (Craglorn for instance) is an interesting goal for trading guilds as it grants better profits and encourages players to invest in their favorite guild, rather than spreading items over 5 stores.

Until non guild members can also use those Kiosks to sell their goods, they are a waste in my opinion.

It just doesn't make sense that someone must enter a trading guild to actually use the global trade market. It would make much more sense if everyone could, based on the investment that person is willing to make.

Make one slot 1k gold, make them based on achievements or quest chains if you like, but to be forced into a guild to trade is silly in my opinion.

They are not a waste. However, I'd like to be able to set my search preferences so that I can quickly click each kiosk and search the same categories! Instead of going through all the menus again. Sure it's no emergency, but it is a feature I'd like to see since I mostly search specific things on there.

Also I'd like to say, whoever sold me all of those purple food ingredients for 150g per stack, I'd like to say... THANKS. That's all. :grinning:

id rather just have a central auction house myself because porting around zone after zone checking the Guild Kiosks gets old after you've done it a bunch especially for enchanting supplies and tempers. Some of the prices are stupid that players are asking but it seems like some of the guild leaders do not mind allowing their members to use this stuff as personal banks. Seeing guilds offer motifs like primal or ancient elf for 80k is a ripoff and Im pretty sure not many are that stupid to buy it for that. I've seen dwarven oils listed for 5000 a piece also so its stupid at times. But this is how a player driven economy works, you are always going to have a few that buy up everything low just to put the prices high because their greediness out weighs the good of the economy. A central auction house would help but it wont stop the problem completely. I just want one for central convenience.

I love them forces you to have to move around and shop in other areas. I wouldn't think it would be great if they offered a second area say a large city or area that is say a neutral city full of merchants that all of the factions can go and interact and buy from other guilds.

As to the merchants being available to those guilds with enough money to purchase them is a very very very good thing. Reason being is all the guilds that are started and failed or end up disbanding then we are left with merchants all around that take up space, not to mention if individual people were able to own their own merchant it'd be a nightmare.

    Define "giant"...

My main guild has 110+ members and we've had a guild merchant since the day they were introduced. We didn't have to throw huge amounts of gold at the merchant either to get that kiosk.

Being in 2 trading guilds that got two of the best guild trader locations on the EU server I've really benefitted from the new system. Everything sells a lot faster in these two guild stores now and can be sold for higher prices.

However, I think it makes no sense that guild traders are spread all over the world in so many different locations, some in the middle of nowhere. Why not place all of them in the same area, some kind of bazar maybe that could be located southeast of Bangkorai and south of Craglorn or on some island between the Alik'r Desert and Glenumbra and that everyone could access :)

Right now, I only ever check the guild traders in Rawl'kha, Belkarth, maybe Riften, rarely Elden Root, Wayrest or Mournhold. The others, no chance, sorry, with all the loading screens it just takes too long ><

I don't know that I'd buy into "only the largest guilds reap the benefits" rationale.

Mainly because I've seen plenty of guild kiosks in the big cities that have very little to sell. As well, there's really no such thing as a premium location. Unless you get one of those lone kiosks out in the middle of nowhere, then maybe, but even those are butting up next to a wayshrine. No one city is really better than another.

If anything, I've seen too many kiosks where after perusing their wares, I can't help but think... "What were they thinking buying this kiosk?"

I like them. I advocated them. I suggested them.

As a consumer and a seller I like that prices are different and that I cannot know all the prices for the whole of Tamriel in one interface.

They eliminate "legalized abuse" by people who sit at the auctioneer all day running programs that watch for deals and buy them up as soon as they see them.

I think there are some tuning things that can be done. I am OK with the blind bidding if guilds are able to bid on more than one per week. I could see a limit of a couple (3-5) bids on different traders, but I can see why ZOS would not want to do that (more complex program).

Saved searches would be very nice.

I like em but the ui (like every other part of the ui) needs work. We should be able to make of list of things we are looking for (shopping list) prior to interacting with the vendors so that when we do interact, it automatically goes looking for them. The current drop down menus are repetitive, clunky, and slow.

I also think an auction once a week or once a month would be awesome. You could do it similarly to kiosks where guilds bid on an auctioneer spot. Each auctioneer (guild) could have an hour and run the whole thing for 12hrs or something.

Here is what I propose, have the Guild Traders in a few areas, say one per zone. Make it a Trading Fair or something. Back in the middle ages, places like this had a somewhat fluid population of traders, but the location stayed the same. Each Guild is auto rotated through the camps once every week or so. Maybe this rotation follows a path, maybe it is just random. In additionm have an area in each city or town where a group of Guild Traders are set up, one or two in the smaller places, 5 to 8 in the larger ones. They share the same rotations as the Trade Fairs, including rotating in and out of the trade fairs.

As for who gets to trade, this system should be able to provide enough capacity, and if not, then a guild is on for a week or three, then goes back on the waiting list until everyone else has had their turn. Set up some minimum trade activity so a guild does not take up space but not add to the commerce.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Smaller guilds should focus on kiosks that aren't in major cities (i.e. ones with banks). There are plenty of these scattered around the world, and some are in some pretty nifty spots. I'm sure you could get these for cheap.

I wanted some alchemy items. I visited about 6 guild stores. 3 had none, 2 had ridiculous prices, one had very good prices;.

If this was an AH, someone would have bought the reasonable priced ones and simply re-listed. Sure that person could visit all guild stores and do the same, but that'#s a lot of hassle, a one point AH makes it very easy.

I like visiting different stores to see what they have on offer.

Only thing that's a bit off so far is the stores I've visited that are completely empty (talking 24 hrs after update) I'm sure they couldn't have sold out of everything that quick, I think some guilds are selfishly purchasing them to simply stop others?
