SO, in two quests, its heavily implied the Tribunal is Growing weak. the first is a bit less solid evidence and a bit more rumor. but its where you help the dark elves, and the dude tells the temple guy the tribunal is losing their powers etc. ok fair enough easily could be propaganda. BUT then, later on in Deshaans Almalexia gets KICKED out of her temple by freaking lesser daedra and she needs you to restore her temple. UMMMMM hold the flick up there a second. she got kicked out of her temple by a couple dremora and clanfear? this is a huge insult. lets recap here. Almalexia, you know. the LIVING GOD. who DEFEATED AND BANISHED MEHRUNES DAGON albeit with the help of sotha sil, but still a HUGE feat cant handle a couple of dremora? why? someone clear this up? is she just messing with the player and its some kind of test? she doesnt act like it. She doesnt want anyone to know what happened and risk them losing faith in her.

This game is set in 2E 582.
But then its and i quote
"2E 882 — Dagoth Ur reawakens.
Dagoth Ur and his Ash Vampires awaken underneath the Red Mountain, where they bind themselves to the Heart of Lorkhan. They ambush the Tribunes during their annual ritual bathing in the Heart's power, and drive them off."

so according to the timeline on the wiki they should still be at full strength atm. so why was almalexia weak? i cant recall but i have a memory of a priest in eso directly stating they stopped making their pilgrimage to the mountain/heart lately.

can anyone confirm a priest saying that in eso and explain to me wtf is going on??
mess with any other lore but dont F with my Morrowind Lore!!! =P

It might be part of the story-telling in this installment. Like, maybe they're going through a "weak-period" right now in this time period for some other reason. Perhaps something that's preventing them from bathing in the Heart's power that they don't want to discuss (for fear of losing followers). Perhaps it's part of a story that is at present incomplete, but will be built upon in future expansions. I'd like to think that since you helped Almalexia through the storyline in EP maybe the Tribunal will call upon you in a future expansion to help them regain their foothold. There are a few hundred years between the time period of ESO and Dagoth Ur's awakening. A lot could happen.

Or it could be a plot-hole. I'm not certain, myself. I just like to stay on the optimistic side of things and believe they're using it as a plot device for future expansions.

EDIT: I wanted to point out that I would actually have liked the option to NOT help Almalexia, as not all of my characters are interested in helping the Tribunal do anything. But as that wasn't an option, it strikes me as a development in a larger plot rather than a short series of quests...but that's just me. :P

what you'll notice is there is one priest that says that they have stopped making their pilgrimages to Ash Mountain. I noticed that too, and have seen it twice (two different characters.) I think it was in Ebonheart, the priest that is losing his faith because of that guy trying to sabotage everyone for the Covenant. That can only be because Dagoth Ur ambushed them. And that hasn't happened yet, as you said. I too noticed this glaring inconsistency.

Yeah fair enough. optimistic is better than the alternative of "they dun goofed and your entire universe you loved is forever slightly wrecked and wrong and always will be now"

man i LOVE TES lore. its one of my faves ever. particularly Morrowind related. but god its soooo messy and tiresome to get around. I love mystery (thats why i love the forerunners from halo and reapers from mass effect) but sometimes i really get the feeling its not a matter of "we are vague to keep mystery" rather it feels more like they are so bad at being consistent they cover it up with mystery. i said it before but ill say it again its damn tiresome and worries me.

Well my interpretation is that she could banish Mehrunes Dagon because the dragonfire was burning, which limits Daedric influence on the mortal plane (Mundus). With the Dragonfire not currently burning, and Molag Bal causing planar disturbance, the Daedra are currently stronger than they should be, and possibly the Tribunal is weakened by the same effects.

But I could be wrong about all of that.

Did he say Red Mountian or Ash mountain? assume you ment red. but if it is actually ash in the game... why would they be going there?

i best be off to bed but what alex said would be acceptable. still so much gdamn guesswork with the lore of this franchise. id love to get it confirmed by the lore master at zeni. still would not explain the red mountian trips part tho

    Well there are many possibilities.

One is that Dagoth was the traitor at the Battle of Red Mountain and bound himself to the heart and the other Dagoths to himself that day, but was forced to run since he realized the tools could still effect him. Thus he's been alive and working his scheme to weaken the Tribunal behind the scenes, and maybe mutating a strain of corpous into the Khatan Flu to try and achieve his goal of removing the other races.

Two think ghost gate but instead this time Vivec is channeling the energy of the heart and Tribunal to make a pseudo barrier that stops the Lords from Manifesting their full power on Nirn. (honestly this would explain why Molag Bal didn't just enter Nirn through the primary anchor to personally crush all resistance)

Three using her premonition powers Almalexia realized the problem didn't require exerting divine power to stop so in true goddess fashion let a minion(you) handle it.

Also more but just my favorite theories.
