Pelidil quest - maomer just keep spawning

Is there some bug to the Pelidil quest? When I fought it earlier it was fairly simple but today after killing the serpent the Maomer just keep spawning; I must have killed over a hundred of them by now.

grimjim398✭✭✭The portal that is supposed to spawn on the ship deck never spawned the first time I tried this quest. When I quit from the game and tried again, the portal spawned and I was able to complete the killing of Pelidil without a problem.0

impgirl✭✭I did this earlier: although I had hit the serpent with the ballista the required 3 times, it was still attacking the ship and endless waves of Maormer were boarding. On a whim, I shot the serpent again, saw it die and the phase progressed to the portal.1
