Can We Please Be Able To Dye Weapons & Shields & Add Chrome Dye?

Please I mean no offense but the crafted weapons & shields lack color really bad! Would really love to be able to add some color to those items. Its REALLY awesome to be able to color our armor but weapons & shields sadly got left out when they NEED it so very badly. All the weapons have a very dull finish to them. Being able to chrome them in places and add some color in other places would be awesome! Again I dont mean to offend anybody at all but just thought I would throw this out there and see what others would think.

Cheers!

Zenimax has said Shields will be dyable in the future.

But they haven't said anything about weapons being dyed, which I want to do.

If weapons could be dyed, it needs to be very subtle. Not as crazy as some armor can currently look. They need to look like weapons. Not toys. That's my reservation, and why I usually say no to weapons when this comes up. I'm only in for yes if it is done right.

Well it needs to be done right, of course, but not necessarily subtle.

Various dyes look metallic when applied to armour, and metallic Reds, Oranges(Brass), and Blacks would look awesome on Swords and Axes.
Not mention staffs and bows could use all sorts of dyes..

    I completely agree.

I've found that a few of the grey colors actually look metallic once you get outside. I too have a problem with the cartoonish appearance of some of the colors. For metal armor they shouldn't be called dyes but paint! That's not to say you can't dye metals, but what ZOS has added is more like paint.

I've done a lot of metal working in the really real world. The current system of 'dying' metal gear is akin to a Duracoat finish. What we need is a finish that looks more like parkerizing or bluing.

    1) yay for shield dyes, very appropriate

    2) Maybe they could categorize or label the dyes so that its easier to see what has a metallic sheen. One of the browns, for example, is actually shiny bronze on metal.

As the leader of a large guild, I could not agree more. Dye on weapons and shields, make it so Zenimax.

I think weapons either need to be dyeable, or variants need to be chooseable.
For instance, if I want to make a Golden saint set, I need golden Daedric weapons and you just cant get those. Maormer need blue Ancient elf weapons and so on.

I'd really like the ability to have my weapons reflect the metal types I create them out of. Having an ebony greatsword that's bright gold seems odd to me.

Also, choosing the Crystal color on the staves that display a crystal would be awesome.

    NO PINK SWORD FOR YOU!

Shields should be dyeable though. And pink dyes or anything that comes close to it should be removed from the game.

    I like the dyes.
I'm looking forward to dyeing my Shields.

And I would like my sword to match too, plenty of dyes look metalic on metal, so it wouldn't look that bad, or at least my swords/axes/maces wouldn't. Not to mention staffs and bows would look nice as well.

Technically it would be coloured metal, since paint would shatter when hit with another weapon, even enamel wouldn't work with a weapon(since they would be getting chipped off constantly) . Dyes are the closest we have to an appropriate terminology.

Mind you since it would be a metallic colour, you could argue that it's plating. Apart from Staffs and Bows of course.

There would be so many possibilities with being able to dye/paint your weapons. I would go for a color that looks like it belongs on a bow, like that's the color the wood was itself. As for the other areas like the grip & little added design areas on the bow, I'd choose one of the three colors I currently use on my gear which is red, gray & black. That way my bow wouldn't look like a toy but like it's part of a set.

yeah dyeing for weapons and shields would be great. Could have shields that match guild tabards or make your own crest. I'd really like more options in making my weapons more unique to me (perhaps this could be an option for master crafters that have maxed out crafting areas i.e. woodworking, clothing, blacksmithing)

I'd also really really love to make my swords handles more one handed for one handed and two handed size for great swords. Not the over compensated versions we have now for them (lol for some reason really bugs me on the looks of them)

Didn't Paul Sage say that weapons will not be dyeable due to the fact that he doesn't want pink swords in the game? Shields are a maybe though.

He may change his mind, unlikely but possible.

Besides most of us just want to complete the colour cordination, unless we're wearing pink armour we wouldn't want a pink sword, and if we are wearing pink armour, the sword is the least of the worries.

There would be far more red/black weapons than pink weapons. Seems like every 3rd person is pitch black with red tones.

lol easy fix don't add pink dye for weapons lol

I think metallic looking dyes would be nice for weapons i.e. steal looks, a metallic black, or even a lightning type metallic blue. I mean its not like Zos can't control what colors can and can't be used for dyeing lol.

I think for weapons and shields it should much more limiting. Allow a single small section like inner parts of a shield or hilt of a sword to be any color. Then either leave the rest alone or limit it to select subtle colors (black, grey, brown).

I Agree, just limit the colours for weapons, make them metalic and shiny.
I personally want Red, Gold, Black, Silver, and metallic Blues (a dark blue, medium blue and a light blue).

I could live with metalic greens too.
