hold block at all times when engaging the enemies, you can cast through blocks and will be able to attack while you also cover your ass.

Depends on your play style, but med armor NB ganking usually works, except against those that know how to play. And to get out of talons roll away, dont stand in red circles, dont stand in enemy standard of might, devouring swarm, veils of blades, etc...Also don't engage blazing shield templars in a melee contest unless you want to die...Actually don't bring any melee at all unless you want to die or ganking with ambush and venom arrow morph can cancel soul assault and other channeling spells that the enemy is using...

Agree with @shadowz081 it really depends on what you're running, who you're running with and what you feel like doing.

General advice is just play with others and be in a group at least. Watch and listen and stay behind em. Slot your bars with AOE and ranged abilities and anything that will buff your mates too. You might want to spend some time reading in the PvP section as well.

    Most importantly HAVE FUN :)

If you're an nb, focus on high damage. If you can't stun with ambush, then dark cloak your arse out unless they're lower level than you.

Work out what you want to do, and get sets to make your character more effective at this. Addons help let you know the amount of damage you're doing.

If you're low level (not vr) don't fight a vr in one on one unless the person has left the keyboard.

Also play how you want to play, being another dk, sorc with light armour and a staff will only make you as strong as you can be. But its like selling your soul....

I gave up. Went vamp. Just got batswarm. I will use it into the ground. Can't wait to get clouding swarm and be invis while I do it while using my regular abilities.

Already dual wielding resto staffs, though I wear a jerkin, not a dress.

You wont have a frame of reference in pvp until you actually do it and see what works and how it works.

My advice is to get into a well organized guild for pvp, run with them, youll learn a ton and get a feel for how things work quick...as well as rack up tons of whatever that green pvp currency is.

just expect to run around lost for a bit. part of the learning process.

I went vamp for the sneak speed, tbh. The other stuff is just icing.

I started showing my helm though, which has face covering. I am so ugly.

I don't always use it, but when I gank or interrupt supply lines, I do. I can't wait to get dark hunter, I am only level 5 in vamp atm, but I'm excited.

If you can't beat them, join them. I respecced out of dual wield and bow completely to free up points, I was just to spread across the board with lots of points in four different weapon skills and a myriad of other things including pretty much all the points for all crafts.

Always have some sort of siege on you, especially a forward camp. I can't tell you how many times a PUG has used up my groups last camp spawn and doesn't replace it with another.

That and oil will be your best friend.

Bugloss, Columbine, Mountain Flower. Collect all that you see. There are always people wanting to buy these and NEVER sell them for less than 50 a piece. And for pity's sake grab those orange runes! Kuta, Rekuta and Denata sell for very nice prices and will help you get enough gold to cover repairs, respects and feed your horse (and buy a horse if you don't have Imperial Edition.)

Yes, but seriously, Forward Camps! If you're the last person to spawn at a forward camp make sure you replace it with a new one.

    Here is some of mine.

1: While traveling via a mount keep the horses stamina at least 30%-50%. This will sometimes allow the player to escape and not be knocked off the horse. (Stamina determines being knocked off or not).

2: Keep and Resources generally take 2-3 minutes before a Defensive tic is awarded. If wanting AP then stick around for the tick.

3: When going stealthed while being chased make sure not to go in the most common direction. Sometimes going stealth then making a sharp 120 turn works great.

6: If tank type player who likes to charge into the enemy please say it in TS first to allow the healer to be ready to throw heals your way. It will greatly increase your chances to make it out alive. If not in TS then announce it in party chat.

7: Most enemies chasing you are stupid and if you run around a corner its possible to surprise kill them. It is also funny.

8: If there are stealthed gankers around and you are using a 1-hand and shield then use Defensive Posture and mount and try to get them to attack you. It last 30 seconds and they wont expect it. (Defensive Posture will reflect the attack back on them)

10: Mounting and acting like you are leaving will make stealth players reveal themselves. Just be sure you can survive the opening attacks.

12: Siege weapons are a great way to defend keeps. This should be obvious but not many actually use them. Meatbags for example can wipe zergs when they rush a flag or choke point, as long a there are allies also attacking.

13: Use at least 4 pieces of Impenetrable gear. This will greatly increase your survivability.

14: Gear can be obtained pretty easily so make sure you are properly guild for your build. Spend time farming flowers or something to sell if you cant afford to buy the gear. Flowers are a good source of income.

After persistently spending all money on banks spaces, how do you find 50,000 gold for a horse ? lol

no less than 100! And I would say it is actually best to use those plants to make triple heal pots. those are invaluable in pvp.

You don't need to cover repairs in pvp, because armor doesn't devay if you are killed by a player.

When you go through the tutorial, there are plenty of siege machines for you to test and try out. When you're in actual battle, those machines belong to someone else and they get a tad pissy if you jump on them and start using them.

    The more you know ;)

A few on top of my head (i might repeat some, I admit I havent read the whole thread, but hearing it twice makes no harm, i guess):

    - Choose an appropriate campaign, if you are non-vet go to the non-vet campaign, if you are vet go Haderus.

    - You will die, a lot - its annoying when it happens esp to a gank or a solo fight you felt you had. Less annoying in big lag zerg, but different opinions on that i guess.

    - This is connected to above, when you DO die do not always blame yourself. There are basically very few buttons to press and that TAKES skill away, so what is left? A counter system or typically referred to as a rock, paper, and scissor system often you will simply die cos you are the paper that met the scissor (best advice here is learn to identify scissor and use an escape, extensive use of stealth is recommened, and steer toward the rock and feel like a God of War).

    - The whole PvP (or Alliance vs Alliance; AvA) system is designed around scoring points, and your death and personal glory is insignifcant in the big picture (i do get, tho, that it seems less insignificant when you sit behind the screen and rage yell at some seemingly unbeatble dk or rightly build BE spamming sorc, but as long as the keep is taken or other objectives are met you should feel that THAT was important, not you soloing 3 guys).

    - Learn different build styles for you class and slowly begin to look at what other classes can bring to the table or not

    - Group up and try to synergize best as possible with the group (if you see a lack in healing capacity, and you have some healing spells, do not hesitate to swap out that awesome dps ability for the extra heal, this works reverse as well and is not limited to the heal <--> dps but also buffing, debuffing, CCing etc).

    - Play a LOT and have fun :)

    Edit:
    Clean up
