I see myself as being reasonably intelligent and fair. I am certainly often grumpy. I just find it lazy and slightly insulting to quote something in its entirety, that I JUST read 2 seconds ago, just to add, "lolz!" or "I agree!". Even adding a reasonable discussion after does not excuse the half-arsed laziness of just quoting a huge block of text.
Some use /snip, some don't. Breaking a post down to show relevant points and discussing each one makes an argument clear and appreciated by readers.

Sorry couldn't help myself. A lot of times I quote because it is faster and then people know who you are responding to, also if it's a large post then you can go point by point , sometimes you can quote the whole thing and post it in several different points. Lol, I agree.But no, seriously, I usually try to trim the fat and reply to certain points, or just make it clear who I am talking to without quoting a block of text. Sometimes, when I just reply to particular points, people get mad and say something like "LOL why didn't you mention this part of what I said? Is it because I'm right?" Especially so in one that is related to my other hobby, old Porsche cars.
Someone will post 10+ pictures in a thread and then people keep quoting those damn pictures over and over again just to add one line of "Nice car!".

And then, you have to think, if it's really that bad of an offense to you then things must be going pretty well for you. I can think of a million things worse than someone misquoting, quoting too much, and quoting for the purpose of responding with a one word answer.
For example, I could be responding to a post that should never have been made.

I do like how the forums will nest previous quotes for you.
The nice thing about forums is that even if someone does quote an entire wall of text, you can easily scroll through it and skim it to see if there's anything worth reading. I've seen it on the Alliance War forums, things can get kind of hostile there though.

As a courtesy to my readers, I try to follow guidelines such as these. If context is needed to understand a quote, I'll quote all the necessary elements, and bold whatever I'll actually be discussing.
Up to now, nobody's accused me of mis-quoting because I had cut out the clutter ... so I guess I'm doing something right
