I make a great salary (not bragging, I mean it in the sense that my pay is fair compensation for my skills) at work. Does that mean I should go to work in the middle of the night so as to not inconvenience others? Hell no. My opinion is that if it would be unreasonable to ask me to do it, I can't expect somebody else to.

Depending on your job, if it is service based then you need to be there for your prime times. That's like saying a pizza shop shouldn't open on a Friday night because they didn't feel like it. Well yea they could do that but they might not keep loyal customers. That was my point. I'm sure Carnagan is right about peak times. I happen to feel like its a bad time because I work third shift. I figured more people would work third shift and would get on afterwards. Maybe not as many as I thought...

yea it seems like 5am would be more appropriate. I am with you as part of the ESO morning crew and downtimes are always happening when I am playing.

But 5:00AM EST is 2:00AM PST, which would still cut in to nighttime play (by far more popular than mornings) as well as Aussie primetime. And we know the Aussies love feeling like no one cares about their timezone.
Most people in America work during the day. I usually have strange hours, so I'm often on in the mornings. However, I accept that my schedule is not the norm. They build their maintenance times based on when the majority of people are not going to be signing on.
