Soul Shatter useful in PvE?

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the Soul Shatter passive (under World--Soul Magic) is useful in PvE. For example, if I'm in a boss fight and get killed and my soul explodes and kills the boss, does that count as mission complete or do I still have to rez and fight him/her again?

I've never had it do enough damage to make a difference solo vs. a boss. If I get a boss that damaged that soul shatter could kill it, then I've never been hurt enough to have it go off. If a boss kills me, it is usually very early because I'm doing something wrong, or goof a mechanic.

It has killed remaining trash mobs and I get a clear spot to respawn.

I've also seen it help in group dungeons, though not as much has someone not dying at all and continuing to kill things.

Yes, I have had this skill help me in some PvE situations. It's actually surprising to me when it does because I always forget I have it on lol. But yeah, it will give you mission credit if it gets used to kill a boss. Mostly useful in delves for me personally.

In my experiences, the second I die, the mobs reset (if I'm solo) so the Soul Shatter doesn't do anything. In a group setting, it can do a little bit of damage. If you have the extra skill point and you are slotting Soul Assault, I'd say throw it in there on the off chance it's helpful. In PvP, I find it lackluster since I rarely die with someone in my face. On a few occasions, I've had it kill someone and got the under 5% health kill achievement but that is really the only use for it.
