~+~ PvP is a money sink ~+~

Most of the time I am playing this game I am PvPing. I am a former emperor. I played through the story line which helped me build about 100K gold. I have been using this gold to buy supplies for PvP and I assumed that as long as I did good, PvP should be a money maker, but I was wrong.

I am currently down to about 15K and I am not wasteful with my money. I have never upgraded anything I own past purple and I only buy things I need so why am I losing money?

Maybe it's just me, but I would think the warriors of Cyrodiil would be paid handsomely for fighting to the death! Any word on if PvP will be updated to allow us to at least not lose money somehow?
If you like small group PvP (2-4 players) and solo PvP check out my video ;)https://youtube.com/watch?v=jechGImtFio

SPOILER: The first 40 seconds of the video contains a scene from the final Molag Bal boss fight!

You can make money selling the new armor sets from the blue vendor bags. I've made at least 125k from those sets and more to come. You should get hirelings from every craft skill and sell the mats you get for good money. The bags you get from pvp have items in them you can vendor for an average of maybe 40-50g each. There's a lot of ways to keep up with the cost of pvping.

    I feel ya,
-10k per week from spell pots
-20k per 2 weeks from soul gems
    -10k per week from tri-pots

The Wrath of Imperium (spell crit) set aside, I've seen next to 0 demand for PvP sets from PvErs. With Warlock becoming a 5-piece set, even the demand for the spell crit rings has dipped.

Which armor sets do you sell to make 125k? I'm curious to know

The hirelings advice is decent but unless you have various crafting alts the money feed is very slow. I get 2 or 3 gold mats per week across all crafts and that's probably ~10k per week but like @zScars‌ my PvP costs 20-30k per week.

I normally lose about 10k per week which I have to cover with some grinding to just stay on a par. you can imagine what my feelings are about having to to mindless grinding.

As a side note, while 600k AP for a spell crit ring was high I think 30k AP is ridiculously low. I can make about ~100k AP from a decent evening's PvP action which means I can buy a full set (rings + staff) every evening. So high availability has flooded the market and the price has collapsed from 15k-20k per ring to well under 5k. At the moment there are no PvP sets desirable to PvErs and the ones that are can be acquired in an 1-2 days of PvP. On the other hand if I want to get PvE sets like Wise Mage I have to go complete the trials like 100 times.

I have been mainly doing PVP for more than a month and I have not been losing money. Depending on how much time you can spend playing, you need to take some time to run dungeons and some quests. You can even do that in Cyrodil. Most of my potions are drops and I gather materials when running around the map to refine and sell.

Arch Mage, Alteration Master, Hawk Eye, Morag Tong, Shadow Walker. The last 3 are very valuable to our precious archers even in pve. I've sold some at around 40k gold. Most of the other sets will sell anywhere from 10-20k, but they won't move as fast. I've had people ask me to buy bags and search for a specific item for them for a lot of money because they just can't get that last set piece.

You're forgetting rewards for the worthy, which help supplement your income if you're opening the bags to sell them.

Also the major pvp cost is buying pots. You can farm half the mats needed for a stack of potions in maybe half an hour. Alchemy itself is ridiculously easy to level also. You may want to set aside a couple hours to get some herbs and level it real quick. Those couple hours will save you a boatload of money in the long run.

A lot of you have mentioned OTHER ways to gain gold in the game. I don't want to do OTHER things to make gold in the game. I should be able to make money by PvPing instead of having to grind something else to enjoy the game.

This is one of the big problems that comes with not being able to loot dead players. In a system that you can loot dead players the good PvPers gain money and the bad ones lose money. It's quite simple, but with ESO's system everyone either loses money or gains money. This would probably cause economical issues if Zenimax rewarded TOO MUCH money to PvPers which I understand, but at least make it so I am not losing money please!

    To answer other posts:
I use player made potions and food because using potions that drop are sure to get you killed. That means food stacks are about 20K and potions stacks are about 11K. Of course I open the rewards. I sell the junk to vendors and try to sell the PvP gear to trading guilds for cheap and most of the time they still don't sell.

    To op, indeed!

If you want to be efficient and win in 1v1 or 1vX you need tri-stat potions. To do that, you need a lot of gold or spare time for farm reagents.
If there is a duel event or small scale pvp with my friends/guild, I usually spent ~50 tri-stat potions in a day.

    And it's absolute money sink.

Adding gold to the Rewards for the Worthy emails is an excellent change. Thanks!

Now I hope it is a reasonable amount (not 5 or 10,000).

To be fair, if you get 100 bags per day, you play enough to earn it, there are still more effective ways to grind money by pve.
For 30k you can buy a purple motif, and at least before the latest patch, finding one would take a fraction of the time spent farming 100 bags worth of ap.

Just take 10 minutes away from PVP and do a dungeon run threw and kill the boss. you dont even have to leave Cyrodiil and these dungeons are close to keep ports. Do this a few times a week and you make decent money. There is usually 2 bosses in a dungeon and each drops alot of loot including a soul gem always and a few blue items. There is uaully also a few treasure chests inside too

I think a lot of people are missing the point. Yes, it's very much possible to make a lot of gold AND pvp, it's also very possible to make just enough gold to not lose gold on pvp. BUT to do that you will need to do some form of pve. You just have to. And I'm one of those that really don't want to. I play for pvp and pvp only, forceing me to pve is the best way to get me to unsub. Now I realize that disqualifies me from some things like trial items and free acces to sets. I accept that. But pvp is indeed a huge gold drain, let me illustrate my consumptions in a week:

    200 tri-potions - 20k (10k per stack)
About 30 pieces of food 9k (300 each)
    100 soulgems 15k (15k per stack)

I total about 44k so around 90k for the duration of my 14 day campaign. Am I gonna sustain this by the reward or selling reward stuff for about 50g each? No I'm not, thuogh I'm lucky enough to be a member of a damn good guild so I get most that stuff free of charge.

So the point is, although it's very much possible to get the gold you new from pve a lot of us really resents having to!

perhaps you use large amount of potions and stuff too much as a crutch in pvp? use less and money wont be as much of an issue.

when you see spamming pots as a requirment to pvp you obviously take it far too serious imo. which i,m also enclined to believe cos you say you get about 100k ap per session.
how many hours per day do you actually play? you might want to consider you might be playing obsessively to the detriment of other aspects of your life...

I wasnt the one who claimed to get 100k ap per session, but I can get those numbers and more. Yes I spend a lot of hours in pvp, and I could chose not to spend potions, but I'm in a serious pvp guild so we do what is necesarry to be competitive. I could spend less hours but that would just meen I had less hours to get gold aswell. My only point is that it costs gold to pvp, gold you need PVE to make back and I really hate that. Others don't mind pve, I really hate it. Ask me to do a dungeon and I'd rather logg off.

Guys we have already established that by doing some form of PVE (dungeons, trials) farming mats or whatever it is possible to make gold, especially if you are a casual pvper. But what if you don't want to spend your time doing that, what if u HATE pve?

I very much like that they are adding gold to reward chests, I just want to break even I'm not expecting to get rich.

Lol it was me who said that I get ~100k AP per session, not engelin. I don't know why that shocked you. I get 30k-35k ap per hour when I play with my guild group so that's a 3-hour session. I get about 15k ap per hour when I play solo, because of too many Leeroy Jenkins moments with noone there to bail me out :)

I dunno if a 3 hour session is too much for you but thanks for the life coaching anyway :P
