Rotating magelight? No thanks, i rather get that one from Skyrim where it floats over head and the inner light just emits glow from character..

One nice alternative for magelight would also be like in /Juggleflame emote when in loop the character holds the flame in his or her right hand. That would look pretty good.. Discuss!

    Thats Starlight. And that honestly should have been a morph of Magelight to begin with.

    As they are the same spell, just applied in different ways.

    I don't care about the animation, I hate the buzzing sound it makes. Animation is fine, the sound is annoying.

    Yes! Remove the rotating balls please. I don't use it because of them. They annoy the hell out of me for some reason.

    Well you should hear it, as the orb is circling you, it makes a clear "sizzling" sound as it rotates...

    Are you sure that's an intentional sound? Even when I have headphones on (which provide much more detailed sound) I don't hear it.

    Just remove the ball of light that's forever orbiting my character. I realize my character is the center of the universe, but the ball gets annoying to be sure.

    Yep, been hearing it since first beta, it is indeed intentional, turn magelight off, no sizzle... Turn it on, sizzle, and as the orb rotates you can get the directional sizzle and tell where the orb is in it's rotation...

    I'm not doubting you. But sometimes lower quality displays will emanate electronic interference toward audio devices when brighter colors are displayed. I've had TV's and monitors effect that in the past. Not saying that's specifically what's happening to you in this instance, but I've seen it happen. All of my peripherals are shielded, and I've never experienced crackle from Magelight.

    What is the matter with you? Cant have rational discussion? What does it matter if there is tons of threads about it, clearly people want it changed if there is tons of threads about it but i just did not see any on the first page of threads.

    Dont be mean, if you dont have anything constructive to add, it is better to be silent than make yourself appear as fool.

    Then back to rational, constructive discussion about how it would bes be.

    For me the rotayion is the worst part, i dont use it as it seems somehow artificial, too much of toy to be magicka. It should be something less prominent, it is just a light which magically reveals that which cannot be seen. Mage often channels magicka from his hands so a good alternative in my opinion would be similar to /juggleflame in a state where character keeps the ball of fire on its right hand and slightly moves hand left to right to see better or cover more area with the magelight spell.

    I can second that there is clearly a sound that moves around your character following the globe of light and it sounds similar to something burning or humming...and it is intended for the affect. It does seem a bit excessive. I am cool with the inner glow and flames coming of the inner light, but the globe is a bit distracting.

    Some sort of barely noticeable hum, similar to what magelight had in Skyrim is my preferred sound for this.

    There's definitely a sound. I recorded it here: youtu.be/S9X-3PGfDGo. (turn the volume up quite a bit to hear it properly - don't worry, there's no hugely loud sounds) It's like a slow frying sound. Once you hear it, it's pretty easy to pick it out, with the volume up a bit.

    As far as the FX, I agree with the OP - the orbiting sphere looks neat for a bit, but gets pretty tiresome after the 100th hour of watching it turn in circles around you. Morph-specific changes would be nice, too! (I already like the inner light eye / hands glow). That said, this is hardly a /huge/ priority, compared to other things in the game :)

    I also agree this is not a priority but i just would like it to be changed to somethin that suits traditional mage better. If i were a mage in a dark cave wishing for a light, this would be more of a obstacle than help as when light is in back of me, i dont see in front of me, when its on my right i dont see left, when its front of me i would be blinded by the brightness.

    Think about the constant movement of shadows in darkness, it would drive you mad shortly.

    That one in Skyrim was best magelight i ever seen.

    Frankly I would much rather they fix the issue of have to recast the dang thing every time I go through a dungeon door or transition someplace. Really annoying.

    Thats annnoying too but it is more of a bug that is definitely being fixed in some point or other. These visuals are stuff people need to ask for.

    I get pain in my eyes from this animation and I am very grateful that you can turn it on and off instantly.

    Actually, I turned it off definitely as the strain on my eyes was too bothersome.
    And used last week respec to get my 2 skill points back. :)
    I'll consider it again when the ball stops moving.

    3 things to reduce stamina/magicka imbalance :
    - Use magicka to block abilities costing magicka, instead of stamina.
    - Add % damage reduction to heavy armor.
    - Add block penetration to 2H.

    I am another person that doesn't use mage light simple because the animation is distracting and it actually makes me sick to my stomach. Please change it or give us the option to turn it off.
