Basically impossible for new members to enter trials

I took my time in VR levels, doing a lot of pvp along the way, and have only just reached vr12 - and I'm sure there are some decent players who've bought the game post-launch and have only recently made it to vr12
But in order to enter a trial group it's a requirement that you have the trial achievement...

The few groups that allow you in w/o achievement usually fail, so that's no use

I'm sure I'll be able to get into a guild run at some point, but I can see this being an issue for newly vr12 players

Anyone else having this issue?

I know what you are talking about, I'd recommend you keep getting trial experience with the groups that don't require the achievement, even if they can't finish. Eventually a more experienced group will be short and not able to find someone with the achievement and take you with them. Then it will be up to you.

lol I'm a conformist sorc with heal staff + destro staff, I can do the dps and know the dungeon
my problem is that to do the trials you have to have completed the trials >_>

Yeah, I've done a few runs and checked out vids of the AA trial - I'm confident I can do it, it's just finding a group

I think that this kind of situation depend on which kind of way you want to play a trial, right now most guild run the for the loot and time challenge, and its a really good thing don't get me wrong.
You should find a group/guild that run trials but accept new players and is happy to let you learn and have fun wit you.

P.s.:PUG are never a good idea for first time.

PuG raids have been like that in every MMO I have ever played, I doubt it is going to change anytime soon. Raid type content really is designed for guild groups. If a guild group is short a member they may try to find a random replacement but ask for someone that has already completed it so they don't have to teach anyone.

Not saying I agree with it or not but that's really how it usually plays out.

    I agree with this.

Many of the groups running the trials are running with the same people and setups over and over. They spent time and many deaths to get to the point they are. They probably aren't just going to let random, unproven people into their current group.

You could start your own groups for trials. Maybe start a group of people that have never completed a trial and start running it. You'll die, they'll be arguments and fights, but you'll get better. Many players that weren't already part of a guild had to start this way.

I never did trials until recently and am in some well known trials guilds. The way i got it was being heavy in PvP and made a name for myself there and eventually got asked to try trials.

The best thing for you to do if you aren't about the PvP life is to find a enemy in Craglorn and practice having high sustained DPS on that and use an addon similar to FTC or FTC and share your DPS to trials players you know for an invite. High sustained deeps equals quick invites and no checks for completion.

I'm going to try Trials for the first time this weekend and I'm worried.
Never done them before, that's a strike against me, I'm not a light armor staff, another strike, I'm a melee-stamina build, another strike, and I'm a dps that uses sword and board (despite the fact I use no taunt abilities and wear medium armor and am specced for attack speed people seem to really have a problem with that...)

I see trials pugs everyday with no progression requirements.

To make yourself more attractive to those forming runs do the following:

    1. Watch some videos to learn the fights. Know your responsibilties. For example, if you are a sorc know how to negate frequently.
    2. Construct a viable trials build/gear set. You do not have to use it all the time. Just use it for trials.
    3. Download all popular voice clients so no one has to wait on you to download it. Ts, mumble, vent.
    4. Buy soul gems, food, and potions beforehand.

Nah, it's pretty easy to get in on runs, if you join a guild that does them regularly. Two of my guilds were pretty much begging for people to come and farm gear last night because they were short DPS.

Ask around and join a guild that does them and you can run trials to your heart's content.

You discovered the solution yourself, join a decent guild and running with them. PUG trials are probably going to frustrate a freshly turned rank 12, if 8-9 people are inexperienced and the team composition isn't ideal it's going to fail regardless.

I personally only started trials last week with my guild and experience has been awesome. Prior to that I attempted it with about 5 times with random people from /zone and we died constantly.

One major problem I've always had with end-game PVE in MMOs is the reluctance to join guilds full of hardcore elitist jerks who demand you play when they want and how they want. That's why PVP and just small dungeons have always been more appealing to me. I love healing dungeons and I excel at it, but I am not looking forward to trying to group up for trials.

I got that elitist crap often when grouping for Vet dungeons before I only went with my Guild...

"Sword and shield? You're a Tank."
"I'm in Medium armor, I have no taunt abilites, I'm specced for attack speed."
"You're still a Tank. Sword and board is Tank."
"ZOS specifially stated it's abilities not weapons that draws agro and makes you a Tank in this game."
    "... you're still a Tank."
    *leaves group*
Zone: LFG that knows the game mechanics please.

Typical "play my way or you're wrong" attitude. I've done each Vet dungeon several times as a sword and board dps without issue. Luckily, I found Guild for Vet dungeons and it's been smooth sailing since.

Yep, same, and I find it disgusting.

I am only VR 11 though, and a healer, so I wouldn't have an issue with LA/Staff requirement, but I do find it disgusting. But also about the achievement... Come on, most people say trials are a walk in the park yet they want only hardcore trial players with them. As far as I know, there is no weekly reset, so what are we talking about?

I experienced quite the opposite in dungeons, people are friendly, don't swear, don't ragequit (or just veeery rarely), yet in the endgame you see the same kind of elitism as in other MMOs. Can't wait for gearscore to show up. "LFM AA Link achievement, LA/Staff. 5000 GS+".

I am taking my time leveling (Still have 3 more AD zones left till Craglorn despite playing since early access), so "can't wait" to experience this kind of stuff. I will just link my incomplete achievement if I can when they ask me to link my achievement, or just link a totally irrelevant one and play stupid a bit. :P

Honestly I have never pugged for a trial.. I suggest like so many others to join a guild that does trial runs...try asking for a guild in zone instead of a pug grp..I m in 2 large guilds that do alot of endgame. We do training trial runs 2-3 days a week at least. We also take builds of all sorts.. like our templar stamina dw build that totally pulled the group.. "joke" but he had Nova and and knew his build/class well.. we beat AA and Hel ra with him. We also had a V10 NB bow user with us that got the aether boots.. V10 ones.. lol! Any trial group that requires alot of specifics doesnt know the trial very well and can only beat it a certain way.. they suck... the ults from all 4 classes is what is really needed and the players need to know how to use them effectively. Having a balance of 3 Novas, 3 Standards, 3 Veils, and 3 Negates = easy win for the trials! Good Luck!

This looks like one of those things that turned me off from WoW - well experienced players (raiders, delvers, etc) expected perfection from those that are going thru the dungeon (aka Trial) for the first time leaving a very bad taste in the new player's mouth.
    -
So I'd like to say to the older and or more experienced raiders/delvers, trial runners, etc - be patient and help the new player, don't just rag on him for not knowing everything. One can only gain so much from word of mouth and or videos (personally, hate the idea of having to watch a video to be 'acceptable') - wisdom and the know-how of a particular dungeon only truly comes from experiencing said dungeon - experience that can only be gained if there are people willing to help.

I know what you are talking about, I'd recommend you keep getting trial experience with the groups that don't require the achievement, even if they can't finish. Eventually a more experienced group will be short and not able to find someone with the achievement and take you with them. Then it will be up to you.
    [/quote]

this. there is nothing zenimax can do about how people organize they way they group with others and stick to playing with friends/guilds; it is their right to play that way. If you dont have a good guild already you need to play with pickup groups. you will end up in a good one eventually. I worked my way into a good trials guild by completing with them when they were looking for pugs to complete their group that was short.

its not really reasonable to say you dont want to play with pickup groups because you will fail, then expect a tight group to walk you through it. you really just said you can find groups but you dont want to play with them because you want better people... seriously?

    How I completed trials:

    typed:
/zone LFG AA/HelRa Can heal DPS or tank (templar)
-Got invited and told to get in teamspeak
    -didnt get in teamspeak
    -cleared AA
-went to Hel ra and made a sammich while grp looked for a new tank
    -Cleared Hel Ra
-Logged off to play with wife.

It is not hard or difficult nor do you need TS to compelte it.
    Just pay attention.

This right here is another beef I've got - when something such as TS, and not part of the game itself becomes necessary to do something in the game. I can turn down all other noises and because of hearing problems - while I can 'hear' people, I am lucky to make out 1 of 5 words - so it's either concentrate on trying to listen or play - can't do both.
