As the title says. What would I benefit more from? Currently I am using only magic damage in my skill bar. I know Light lets you use more spells, but does the armour have any real effect on my spell damage output?

I initially ran with full Light armor for the magicka boost, and that was wrong. Turns out, the Nightblade's melee attacks scale from WEAPON damage and ARMOR penetration (not magic damage and Spell Pen).
I started equipping full Medium armor, and my performance immediately improved. Not to mention my stamina regen for CC breaking and roll dodging, as well as the massive improvements to stealth and run speed.
Now, if you're going with a ranged Nightblade built around class abilities, Light armor will serve you best.
That's my experience, anecdotal though it is. If anyone has numbers to either support or debunk this, I would appreciate it.

It depends on what class skills you use. If you use melee class skills like teleport strike, vielled strike, impale and such they are actually based off of weapon crit and you would benefit more from medium armor. If you are more of a siphon spec with the ranged spells you would benefit more from light armor
Light armor will let you use magika abilities more often but medium armor will let you sneak better and put out more damage with weapon abilities AND class melee abilities.
Personally if you are going siphon mage i would go light armor. if youa re going assassin play i would go Medium armor. if you go bow i would go medium armor.
Ah, okay. Crit could explain why my attacks seemed to be hitting harder when I equipped medium armor.smeeprocketnub19_ESO wrote: »I thought the melee abilities scaled with weapon crit but spell power.

I've got a level 21 sword & board / bow NB as well as a level 22 dual wield / bow NB, both of which use mostly medium armour. I'd agree that the dual wield / bow build is far more effective than the sword & board / bow build.I have also found out that if your not Dual Wielding on a NB, the game will beat you up. I tried a 1H/S and Bow NB, and it pretty much sucked.
