It appears that for many the goal of the game is to get to the end game as fast as possible. I for one enjoy the journey.

It feels like a lifetime ago when the 16-bit computer/console games were state of the art and my main time sinks.Tonight when i played, i was having nostalgic memories of old computer games and even from early MMORPG, games and begin wondering..
Once in very first games and many years after that, there was not even an option to run, there was enough time to go anywhere and take the time to solve puzles and stuff like that. Admire scenery, you name it. These days i included just run run run, why? Where are we foing with such a rush? Cant we jhust take our time and take it slow, instead of running from place a to b to c doing quests as fast as we can? In every game when i try to slow down and walk, i just continue to running and i have no rush to nowhere, yet it seems like i do have a terrible rush. When ever i slow down, i tend to find more sidequests, more stuff to gather, more to see and more to do.
So whats the rush that we even have to ride horses to houses and do fast travel instead just going on roads or exploring the forests, why even the super speed that is today, it never is enough?
How else could they state the obvious about the endgame being repetitive and a grind? It appears that for many the goal of the game is to get to the end game as fast as possible. I for one enjoy the journey.

The journey?! Doesn't everyone just load up a movie, fast forward to the end, then immediately go trash talk it on the internet!? Come on now, who attempts to be entertained by entertainment products? That's just silly! Just get to the end and demand a sequel!

If you ask me anyone that's been on since beta and doesn't have a vet level toon is just clueless on how to do quests. Or just farming mats and motifs to make gold.
I have to disagree.
Early games had a run, they didn't have a walk.
That taken care of, I agree with your sentiment of enjoying the journey. However that has nothing to do with a run button. I can enjoy the journey just as much running from point A to point B as I can walking. I'm still experiencing the journey.
(Note: I have a horse, but I still tend to run most of the time. I do lots of harvesting on the way from point A to point B, and the mount/dismount animations make it feel like using my horse has too much downtime.)

Do they play 10 minutes a day or something? How slow can you be? No-lifers like myself can't compute.
Today i made a new character, i promised myself that this time when going all the way from daggerfall covenant quests, i walk while not in road, sneak in hostile zones and try to act naturally.

some didn't, but that was a long long time ago. Monkey Island, for example, didn't iirc, but really, there wasn't much ground to cover. Maniac Mansion is another one I can remember. Early games just had one speed which was the speed they could animate the character moving at for the most part.
I always love these posts.
OP, the first 500 times I saw the Daggerfall market running from the wayshrine to the bank I enjoyed. Now I ride my horse that I paid 42k for and fed daily for a month. I just spent the better part of about 5 weeks stuck at two levels in an alt farming the blue provisioning recipes up to level 25 and now need to level again to do the next batch. Forgive me if I don't find the need to crawl through locales I've seen a thousand times since April on my way to do so.
That seems somewhat backwards to me. In reality I'd expect to walk (or ride horse) when on road, run (or sneak) otherwise. Sprinting for short bursts when in hostile territory when not sneaking. Pretty much everywhere is hostile territory. If I'm not sneaking I'd be running (or sprinting) to try to get from point A to point B with minimal time for possible detection. And remember, it's running, not sprinting. A human that's in shape can run/jog for a REALLY long time.
Care to show me where anyone said you were doing it wrong?Reiterpallasch wrote: »... there are a lot of people saying that if you're not playing that movie in slow motion, you're doing it wrong ...
By the way.. Someone mentioned something about addon that shows weapons/shield on horse... Is there really something that fixes it?
How about torch? Anyone seen a torch one can use when walking?
