Is anybody playing this CURRENT version of the game to the fullest in terms of maxing out levels etc to make their characters the best they can be for when the game is actually not a beta version? I feel like this is still a beta. With the dlc's coming out previewed at quakecon thatll somewhat make it more of a full game.

In this thread ~ "LOL" means disagree.

If you're having fun playing the game, who cares? Beta, full game, steak sandwich, it doesn't matter if you're having fun.

Why are you paying a sub not to have fun?

Im enjoying the game as we speak, however I wouldnt want to go through the quests etc when all the quakecon updates come out because ive spent too much time waiting for the game to become good so I wouldnt want to waste time questing and rather enjoy the features.

Thankfully, whether a product is in beta or release is not really decided by your gut feeling. I mean, imagine the nightmare if every company in the world had to call you and ask if it was okay to go live. You'd never have a moment's peace!

Bugs and exploiters are frustrating to be sure. But yeah, like some of the others, I am having a whole lot of fun in PvE and PvP. And I love the fact that I have four builds and have maxed all but one of the crafts all on one character.

I'm happy to pay the sub, its not much money and I enjoy various aspects of the game, so when for example pvp becomes unplayable, I go quest etc.

But I very very often feel like this is still a beta

I'm certainly not playing this, or any other game, to the fullest. I've observed that the people who do that are always the ones complaining the most about this, that, and pretty much everything else.

I much prefer to take things at my own gentle pace, and am enjoying TESO on that basis - and with nothing really in the way of quest bugs or performance issues to complain about. I'm finding the game well worthy of commercial release and good value for money in subscription terms.

Haven't maxed out levels yet (V6) but to me the best parts of this game are not about levels or leveling. If anything leveling is it's weak point.

Minus the performance issues (crashing, occasional bad fps) I'm having a lot of fun with this game in it's current state. The features that are coming in the future give me something to look forward to rather than making me feel like I can't play until they come. I suppose since I've only had the game a little over a month I'm not suffering from that "pre-expansion syndrome" that some people get when upcoming features are announced.

Right now I'm just getting my main character to Vet 1, and then I plan to play characters in the other two alliances. It'll be nice to have at least 3 high level characters to play when the new stuff does eventually come along. At the moment I'm not too fussed about Craglorn or PVP since there is some imbalance there, and those aspects of the game are likely to undergo a lot of further tweaks before they're truly "finished".

If I'm having fun with the game it's well worth my $15 per month, which is a pretty trivial amount of money, relatively speaking, considering the amount of money that some people dump into other hobbies or entertainment.

"Beta" is subjective. MMO's improve/evolve/get bugs/fix bugs, over their entire lifetime. Is the game at "beta" level? Or are you just spoiled, or raised to believe high expectations are reasonable?

The game left Beta around the 1st of April.

Whether you feel it should still be in beta or not - is irrelevant.

Enjoy the game? Keeping paying and playing.

Don't enjoy it? Go find a game that you enjoy.

Life is too short to try to convince anyone that a launched game is 'still in beta', when it clearly isn't.

I will pay the sub, because at the end of the day, I just love the Elder Scrolls franchise and the game is good enough to enjoy playing.

However, the game does have room for improvement... a LOT of room. I will still state my opinions about the job ZOS is doing with this game... and a lot of the times those opinions will be negative. Complaining is how people like me show that they care about something.

Well still there is a fine line between complaining and then giving constructive critism. My first few posts wasn't really all that positive, more of a rage induced post.

And in my opinion the game feels pretty good to play, im enjoying this, i love the setting too.

And for me that justifies the sub fee. Maybe im just not used to MMO's

But yes, ever since i began to explore, and read more of the content, i have begun to play every single quest on a continent or zone before traveling further. And that is where i realize that the game is actually pretty good, and really does stay true to it's series lore.

I also only have had few technical issues, lag outside cyrodiil is something i indeed can live with, as they often doesn't last longer than a minute.

But improvements are of coursevalways welcome, and i look forwards to future content

Having a lot of fun here, despite the "beta feeling" and the many issues.

The most annoying for my part, being a PVE adept at the moment, is the empty VR zones and the pain in the back side to find people to group up.

Beta... I do not think that word means what you think it means. That and "dlc" MMOs constantly evolve and respond to the player base, adding new features, changing old ones; apparently you don't like that.

Aside from bug fixes, which everyone wants, what is it that you want, exactly?

This is a common misconception. Due to thier immense size and complexity MMO are bound to have a eternal battle with bugs. It's less possible for them io have no bugs then for Windows.

Complexity wise it is about equal to building a city. From scratch. While also having to minimise running cost.
Issues can be fixed a bit faster, but they also only become apparent in effective use.

I don't see how me often feeling like it's a beta can be a miss conception at all.

    I didn't say I was playing one.

However, just because a company gives a release date, sticks to it, and replaces the word beta with live does not mean it is really ready for release and in my opinion, the game breaking bugs in the first month, to me we yes we were in beta.

There will always be bugs of one sort or another but the amount of game breaking bugs people in my guild (EU) are experiencing is getting beyond a joke. And a lot of these are things like launcher/patcher problems that I was bugging in January's beta.

Half of my guild that tried to log in yesterday had various patcher problems, here's a few comments from my guilds websites shout window yesterday

[13:48:50] <AAA>hmm my patcher seems to have screwed up my game cant get in, keeps saying something about cant find metafile
    [13:48:57] <AAA >cant repair either
[14:15:08] <BBB>odd i had that Sunday when i crashed out the game but restarted and had no problems
[14:28:48] <CCC >I had that this morning but it repaired ok. Last time I had that was with this patch, and it started downloading the entire game again :/
[15:12:54] <DDD>mine game is borked done repair 3 times to no avail 17:07:27] <EEE >hi is there a issue with eso ?
    [17:08:44] <EEE >***** then am gettinf 102

Here's a response one of them recieved from CS yesterday
Now then, lets see what tips I can provide to you for your Error 210 issue. Let me explain a bit about this error though: The Patch Manifest error (Error 210) occurs when a game client has not updated correctly or the launcher can not determine the version.

The result is that the typical patch from one version to the next will not work. You should first try to set the program to run as administrator:

Close the Launcher and start from Step 1:
    1. Run As Administrator
    Right-click on the launcher icon
    Select "Properties"
    Choose the "Compatibility" tab
Check the box that says "Run as Administrator"
Click Apply and OK. Try to run the game.

If you are still experiencing trouble try the following:
    2. Repair the Game Client
If the "Play" button reads "Install":
Click the install button and start downloading
Once the download begins, shutdown the launcher
    Restart the launcher
Expand the Game Options menu (Cog wheel located above the News Feed)
It should say "Updating..." Under that it should say Cancel. Click Cancel
The expanded tab should now change to include "Repair." Click repair, and wait for it to finish.
If "Play" button reads "Install or Update" during the download process:
Expand the Game Options menu (Cog wheel located above the News Feed)
If the tab says "Installing…," restart the launcher
When the tab says "Updating…," click Cancel
The expanded tab should now change to include "Repair." Click repair, and wait for it to finish.
The repair process will go through a loop of verify --> download --> verify until all the files are repaired. The progress bar will therefore go from 0 to 100 multiple times before it finishes. It is possible that the system will need to download large files.

    3. Delete Patcher Program Data Files:
Navigate to the Patch's install Folder (by Default located at C:\Program Files (x86)ZenimaxOnline\Launcher
Locate and Delete the "ProgramData" Folder
    Restart the Launcher
The Launcher should now display "Creating Download." This is normal as the launcher begins the regeneration process. It can take anywhere between 21-30% before the launcher switches to "Downloading Game Files"
Try to run the the client

    4. 15 - 20 Minutes Wait:
Once the "Patch Manifest Error" reveals itself, click "OK"
It will sit for about 15-20 minutes show "Patch Manifest" or "Error 209". Play button will be unusable at this time (gray).
After 15-20 minutes, Play button becomes blue and will launch as normal.

    5. IF ALL ABOVE STEPS FAIL YOU WILL NEED TO REINSTALL ( LAST RESORT)
The following steps to uninstall and reinstall the ESO game client will resolve the errors and allow you to play the game.
    Uninstall the Game Client
From the launcher, select the title of the relevant game client
Click "Game Options" (near the center of the launcher)
From the "Game Options" drop-down, select "Uninstall"
IMPORTANT: Do not uninstall the client through the computer's Control Panel
    Click "Apply"
    Install the Game Client
From the launcher, select the game client
    Click "Install"

Should the issue persist, please use the Game Consultant tool to collect your system information, and send us the file by replying to this e-mail will need as the information to help us solving the problem.

    Game Consultant:

and as someone in my guild responded
running as Admin i had to do in Beta. Tsk tsk. Lazy devs

This is on top op PvP being unplayable for the last week, constant lag problems for the entire guild since the server move, or the fact that a few of us myself included had no choice but download all 26GB only last week on the 1.3 update, which took some of us a couple of days to play.

One player has gone to play halo tonight as she still cant log in (numerous bug reports)

So whether you or others agree with me or not, it does often feel to me like its still a beta.

This. Very much. A game that requires administrator privileges to run is a throwback to the 1990's. Do you trust the ZOS developers enough to give them complete access to your system? I really don't. Fortunately, it's just the launcher that requires it, and only during updates, but people are lazy and will probably keep running it with elevated privileges all the time. Not good.
