I like the idea with mixing at bit of 'realism' I think there should be limitations to hairstyle, skin tone, weight, etc. Basically theoretically things that could change over time or through grooming, eating, etc. I realize this is fantasy, but I think complete alteration of appearance just breaks some of the basics of the character's unique identity.

I don't mind the mirror concept being limited to quick changes. Just as long as a mage can be found who can change your race, sex, even class or name. For a humongous fee, of course.

My character's have unique identities. I understand your point there. But I build each character from their backstory up. It's the way I play and the way I prefer it.

But even I recognize that other players are more fickle, may have had less pre-planning, or may have fallen in love with the lore. ESO has a lot of first time roleplayers who are now regretting their pink lizard named 'runs-into-walls'.

I've had to come to terms that, other players changing their characters is dramatic ways, is no different than those players simply deleting old characters and making new characters with the same name, which means it impacts me not at all. And if it makes ZOS a few more bucks in microtransactions, or earns a few more happy subscribers, then I actually benefit from something I don't personally care for.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

I am overall happy with how my characters look, just a few minor tweaks are really needed. Characters look different in the game than in the creation screen.

I do have one character that I thought looked good, until I saw him in game. He needs an overhaul, but he is my HA Crafter with lots of research. So, I am not deleting him.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
