new game wont work...!!!!! Metafile error

What a mess....persuaded my sons to buy ESO and after almost 4 days of installing repairing still getting nowhere just metafile errors... shame such a good game has been a massive dissapointment to them and many others...they need to sort this asap or they will lose alot of new players and i myself included...

    Delete the file "Bethesda.net_Launcher.version" from the launcher folder. For me, it helped.

    My point is people shouldnt have to go trawling through forums looking for answers after spending money on a product that should do what it is supposed to that is WORK in the first place... Spending almost a week trying different suggestions from ESO support waiting so long for it to download then getting nowhere is ridiculous and unacceptable...like i said a great shame people are spending money to be dissapointed like this... l will not be paying them anymore money thats for sure and i will be taking my 2 sons games back to the shop for a refund... the whole experience with ESO online has been infuriating...

    So you are just here to complain? Sorry, but the forum is not for that.

    If you were truly affected by that, you would jump at the first opportunity to get it solved. You did not, so I doubt you are truly affected in the first place

    This is a really rare issues, so it is at least partially on your end. Wich means it is outside the ability of Zeniamx to predict and compensate for it. If we programmers can't trust your RAM, OS or Disk, there is nothing we can do.

    Also tests show that the bulk of the data (~99%) does not ahve to be re-downlaoded. Just deleting the other 1% (the launcher folder and everything not a .dat or .bik), reinstalling the launcher and making a repair scan should be enough:

    Then i will say you're going to be dissapointet for the rest of your life, and you might as well throw your computer out in the garbage bin right now.

    Because technology will help, it will make life much easier, but the problem is. It's so fragile.

    In this case every computer is different, some experiences plenty of errors while some (Like myself) it all runs just smooth for, it's most likely a problem on your part, everything from malware to damaged hardware or coding somewhere.

    And yes when we purchase a product today we expect it to work as intended from the beginning, sometimes it don't.

    That's why we have google, you know it's never bad to ask for help. It doesn't and shouldn't hurt your male pride.

    Im blown by the fact that you spend weeks trying to troubleshoot some issue that a couple of google searches would answer.

    And would most likely only take the maximum of an hour to apply.

    It's not a rant geared towards you personally.
    But i have got the lesson from so many other programs. Google will most likely have an answer, and if not. it will lead you into the right direction.

    One rule too is not to rely too much on customer service, wether digital or "real life" because it will most likely just anger you even more (Personal experience)

    Well the complaint is valid and probably a problem on both ends not just the customer. I had the game installed on my laptop and just decided to buy a new computer desktop dedicated to gaming performance. Although I had a physical copy I tried to download the client and had the same error. They said in customer forum that the problem was fixed and need only to restart the launcher. It didn't help... Fortunately I installed from the disks and now it's patching (I cross my fingers). I think the expectations are not too high to make the game work on a new computer specially bought for that purpose.
