TELEPORT TO PLAYER OR QUEUE LIKE AN IDIOT????

So i,m looking to join a bit of pvp EU server tonight, my home is full at about 8pm, so is my guest. I'm thinking "no pvp for me tonight" so i go to change my guest. NOPE locked out of change for 3 days .... well this sucks.

I decide to try to port to a player in a guild whos in cyrodiil just to see if i get lucky... ZIP i,m in my LOCKED home server.. I think "bonus!"

but hold on a sec whats actually happened here?

A/ have i just skipped the queue ? leaving all those sucker who actually wait in line and just got lucky that a space became available at exactly the right moment?
If thats the case THAT IS UTTERLY WRONG AND NEEDS FIXING ASAP IMO

B/ even worse is it the case that by doing so ive circumvented the whole population cap entirely? If thats the case THAT MAKES A COMPLETE FARCE OF CYRODIIL ENTIRELY.

so i play for a bit , now it might have just been me but in the same server. EU CHILLREND last 2 days even with both EP and DC locked out DC seems to have zergs everywhere it needs them outnumbering EP at every turn.
Now if thats just DC is rolling well and seems to be able to move huge numbers whereever needed extremely fast all of a sudden even when getting attacked in several places at once. fair enough.

HOWEVER. if its the case that its possible to excede the population caps by having a few guild members in the server then waiting till its population is capped. then adding unlimited numbers from guilds by simply TP to player... then cyrodiil is utterly broken till this gets fixed.

so can someone confirm that it's A/ as opposed to b/ ?

A is bad enough and needs a fix... but if B/ is possible then its the biggest flaw in a very flaw ridden game , thats pretty much game breaking for me..

Dunno, but given the track record of the port to player function, I wouldn't be surprised if it just ignored any and all rules in place. Any Vets tried porting to a player in a no-vet campaign yet?
"You've probably figured that out by now. Let's hope so. Or we're in real trouble... and out come the intestines. And I skip rope with them!"

god ye that,ll be the next thing we,ll have "leet" guilds porting into the non vet one to intoduce them to emperor farming and blobbing , just to give them a flavor of whats to come.

i,m not blaming anyone for anything. its not about faction politics. i just happen to be EP. if its possible its equally likely any faction can do it.

First click didn't work, second did, Just TP'd to Thornblade NA.

Super duper tip. Should be stickied somewhere for the @ZOS team to read.

This would explain why the que was up. But when you get 20 guild member all teleporting to player at once, I think we crashed the pvp instance.

all three appeared locked, didn't bother queueing but I TP'd from Craglorn.

god thats shocking.. now i,m not suggesting guilds have been knowingly abusing this ,,, but if it occured to me how open to abuse this is it will surely occur to others... and even if it hasn't been abused deliberately . who is to say it's not been circumventing pop caps for ages.

    this needs a fix... @zos

i mean you dont need massive numbers to make this an incredible flaw. if you have big guilds . Say 100 folk 20 or so get in after the cap is reached. that faction has a whole extra raid running around which is enough to sway the whole war ..

    thats just insane.

Teleporting to player doesn't even work for me. When i try to do this i get only system message "campaign is full". And switching home/guest doesn't work either, since switch lockout duration keeps refreshing itself (i.e. i have 2 days lockout no matter how long i wait).

well not to belittle what i agree is just insane damage. but being one shot is being one shot.. theres enough one shot things going round. all of them should be removed imo.. we,re not playing golden eye on the n64. with certain abilities being like the golden gun.

if i,m one shot i dont care if its 1 hp more than i had or 50000 i,m still dead before i can do jack to counter it.

but this makes a joke out of the entire premise of a fair fight.

who are you telporting to? a guildie or a friend? not sure if that matters. ive had a couple of fail messages. something like "not possible right now" but then it just works on another guy. but tonight was the first time it worked on a locked server.

Tried both to guildies and friends and to different people as well. After trying a couple of times i get "you are already queued for this campaign" with no indication of any queue and no result (waited for an hour and a half).

First, you can't be queued already, if you are, drop from the queue. Second, the person you are porting too can't be in combat.

Other then that, it did not matter if they were friend or guild mate, it just ported me to them. This is by passing the 'lock' server and would explain a bit why the server is unstable. I got the feeling you porting in, is triggering someone else randomly getting kicked.

ye the target being in combat would explain how it fails sometimes. but i doubt it would involve someone else getting kicked. for that to be the case there would need to be a system in place to select who gets kicked , and that would mean that the devs put a system in place which de-facto would mean they know about this possibility of circumventing the lock..

this really needs some clarification from ZOS

The population cap is still enforced in all situations whether you are Queue'ing or traveling to group members. Also note that the "lock" symbol turns on at 90% population per alliance and not 100%.

From this I am getting the impression that travelling to players doesn't skip the queue. If you try to travel and the campaign is full, you get the "Campaign is full" message, meaning you would have to join the queue.

He's telling the truth, I've queued for it plenty of times while its "locked" and gotten in instantly.

All this time and I never knew that! I'd see the lock and just give up trying to queue (I hate lines) and go do other stuff. Heh.

Huh, and here I was going to suggest just using the way shrine instead of travel to player. I guess the campaign just wasn't full yet. So does this mean each of the three bars represent 0-29%, 30-59%, and 60-89% respectively?

The answer to the original question is not A or B. You teleported to a player when the population was between 90-99%, a population that would still be indicated with the locked symbol on the campaign list. If it were actually at 100% full, it would indicate that the campaign was full in an error message as you tried to teleport. Then you would be forced to use the queue system.

Last night, the guild group I was in left an underpopulated campaign to enter a locked population campaign. A few players got into the campaign. The rest met with queue. We then dropped queue and attempted to teleport. We all got the same "Campaign is full" message. Then we had to all queue again. I was position 16 in the queue. It seemed that all of the queue were guild mates. If any of us were able to teleport, it would have been brought up in team speak and we would have tried to teleport again. That was not the case.

As far as getting the impression that one zerg from one alliance seems to outnumber the other: when populations are locked, what everyone in your alliance is doing really counts. It's possible that a full group could have been farming at an insignificant keep. It's also possible that group could have been doing a full map skyshard run. Who knows? A few days after initially joining the guild I'm in now, we had an emergency guild meeting while stealthed by some rocks not far from Warden. (We are EP.) It lasted a solid 30 minutes as some serious issues were resolved. Also, it's very easy to spread thin with a map that large. It pays off to collaborate strategies with multiple guilds and pug groups in order to succeed.
