Still having issues looting dead NPCs since April.

I am still having issues that at least 2 or three times during a session, I cannot loot a dead NPC even though my inventory is not full. Is anyone else out there experiencing this? ReloadUI doesn't resolve this. Waiting for 30 minutes doesn't work either. It's not that big of a deal, but it annoying that this has been going on since April.

I was wondering how wide spread this is.

I've only seen that happen once or twice since I started playing the game. But on my end if I waited a few seconds it would become lootable.

I often find when this happens my character is still in 'combat' mode..........

I just fire off a skill/weapon and suddenly that NPC is lootable.....

Hope that works for you :)

It feels to me that when I can't loot an NPC, that I'm not completely out of combat or something. Resetting the UI doesn't seem to work either.

As luck would have it, usually there is another mob near by that I can lure close enough that when I loot it, I get the loot from the other NPC also.

But yes...it happens to me also, usually towards the end of a long session of playing, which might be part of the "Memory Leak" symptoms being discussed else where on the forums.

See my above post......... fire off a skill/weapon body will become lootable......

But the kill a nearby mob works to :)

The weird part when this happens to me is... I can normally loot bodies in combat...

It is only after combat, when I'm stuck in combat like this when I can't loot...

Wacky... happens to me a lot as a templar. I think it has something to do with buffs or regens hitting non-grouped people.

    Move away from the body.

I have this happen a lot when they die during/just after a knockback. Where I see the corpse and where the server sees the corpse is not sync'd properly.

The best workaround is to loot the corpse of something else nearby.

One of the many annoying beta bugs that still haven't been fixed.
Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

Five months in, I think we can stop referring to them as 'beta' bugs.

Besides, this one is not that uncommon in games. My personal workaround is to stop being so twitchy with the knockbacks when an NPCs death is imminent :p

If it's been around since beta - it's still a beta bug.
    - Five months in is a little long to still have some of these bugs and expect to either ignore them, or, ridiculously have to re-bug them over and over.

I don't use knockback skills unless poison arrow or basic resto staff are infused with knockback natively. I know my Bosmer 'toons don't come infused with Jujitsu.

I've gone away from the original kill in delves, around corners with no combat available, and still not been able to loot when I return. I've run off in Grahtwood, Greenshade, and Reapers to loot a node or two and still not been able to loot the original badguy.

It's been a while, but I've killed a 2nd and (once) a 3rd badguy and still not been able to loot the original.

    Just sayin'.....

For me I have found this 'bug' is always triggered by what another poster mentioned -- the knockback. So I try not to knockback if there's a chance the mob will die soon. However, when it does still happen because I knockback and someone else joins the fray, I try moving a little away from where the body normally is and mousing for target. Often I've been able to loot this way. It is some kind of sync issue. Another solution is to drag another mob near the corpse and when you loot that new one, it'll collect the other loot as well (if you have autoloot area turned on). Final solution I've only had to use rarely is to do a quick relog. I'm always able to loot upon reentering game. Of course relogs only take me less than a minute, and I know some folks have issues getting back in the game that quickly.

Thanks for the tips. I do use knockback a lot, but I shouldn't have to change my game play because of a sync issues. I also had issues where I couldn't mount my horse because the game system thought I was still in combat when I wasn't; maybe my account is having sync issues because all my characters experience these problems. I am using a wired LAN with an internet speed of 28 Mbs download and 5Mbs Upload. I don't think this is the problem.

I have noticed the unable to loot more so lately than before. Before it was rare, now it is 2 to 3 times per session, if not per dungeon. Frequently it is because there is a mob from the original group that wandered off, sometimes killing something else will let me loot later.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
