What about adding a megaserver in Australia?

Has little effect on PvE. In primetime Aus time we have all these Aussie Doorbangers that joined AD to PvD and very few anywhere else. We'd struggle to have more than 1 bar in any faction most of the time with 2 in AD sometimes. We don't have the numbers to support a miniserver let alone a megaserver.

Silly idea. Yes we lag in PvP but this isn't a shooter. We are disadvantaged but MMO players in general are pretty average gamers so you won't get that lag used against you as effectively as it could be. Nowhere near as many freaky reflex kiddies as shooters etc. It's manageable and every time you pummel someone you can be pretty sure they have far better ping than you and you've outplayed them even more than it looks. And when you're beaten you can blame the lag. ;) Win/win.

When you say all the people are having lag issues, you aren't speaking for me sorry.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see an oceanic server, but my lag isn't bad at all to warrant the cost of having an Australian/Oceanic server.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

Try a service like lowerping. It brings my ping on a consistent basis down to around 170-180 which is a huge difference and makes the game playable.

Time and resources that can be spent better else where. There are far too few aussie players to need a megaserver location there. Wouldn't be remotely cost effective, unless you want them to raise the subscription costs for everyone to make up the difference of adding another megaserver in a different part of the world.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

but I am sure that also all the people in Asia would love a closer megaserver, and Australia would work for many of them as well.

    WRONG!

A server in Australia would not help the people in the Asia at all. A big majority of us in Asia (especially south east asia) get better and a whole lot less ping connecting to US than connecting to Australia. That's because most servers in Asia route to US before coming back down to Australia.

We get roughly similar ping connecting to the EU servers when trying to play on servers from Australia. I've tried this before in many games. Sure, the timezone thing is good, but doing that for double the ping? No thanks. And Oceanic servers just end up being a ghost town after a while anyways. So really, all the oceanic servers benefit is actually just the Australian players. (and maybe the NZ players as well.)

I've seen waay to many games that have tried Oceanic servers, only for them to close the server after several months after the server's release. ( high cost, with low population) And Australia is a really expensive place to host servers, hence most developers reluctance to host a server there for such a small playing population group. And I'm saying this as part of the Asia Pacific community that in actual fact, a megaserver in Australia will only benefit the people playing in Australia(& NZ).

I believe it wouldn't be too populated honestly. Right now what's nice is you can login and people are online at all times. However, it is much more quiet during AUS prime time than it is NA prime time --- something to really consider if you'd want a ghost town at certain hours for those living down under.

I heard it was mostly because the telephone monopoly charges way too much to host a server there, which is why Blizz doesn't have servers there, either. Which sucks, and I really feel for the Aussies. At least as a Canadian, the server being in Texas isn't too bad (and no one ever puts servers here either, I bet). I'm actually surprised that my latency to EU isn't that bad, though, and sometimes still feels more responsive than NA.

I don't think they'd put it in AUS, but maybe a nearby Asian country if anything

The ping to Asia is worse than the ping to the US from Oceanic countries, no good in Asia.

That sounds really strange. Why would that be? Crappier lines in Asia?

Its all down to pathing of our the sub-sea links to the rest of the world. They either go through the pacific via Sydney (the US and some asia), or through the Indian ocean links via Perth (for most of Asia). Traffic to Asia mostly gets routed through the Perth links so it has a couple of thousand km before it even starts to traverse the link and then up it goes through the Indian ocean and into Singapore.
