I love PvE and PvP. You pretty much have to love it in order to play this game lol However I see so much of that going on and VERY VERY VERY little RP. Given I know its really up to the players for RP but I feel there should be someway the Developers could encourage more players to RP.

I do agree with you there. In addition its still pretty hard to naturally find other Rping players in the world.

And personally with the lack of chat bubbles, with there being more than a few, its difficult to keep track of who is who, and whats relevant to you or not.

There are people that Rp, but its more and more inclined to smaller groups now than it could be. It also depends on faction. As for as far as North American servers go. The most active Rp faction is Ebonheart, and Daggerfall secondly, and i'm still having difficulty finding any reliable Rpers in Aldmeri.

I am trying to get my character together for RP. However it is hard to find other RPers especially if you are not in a guild. I don't like chat bubbles but the chat system is less that satisfactory in this game so it makes it pretty hard to keep up (even with chat addons though they help some.)

It would be nice if the forums had a dedicated RP section category of its own and not having to try to see if anyone RPs or look for guild stuff.

They really didn't do any of the things they said for RPers and I hope once things get settled they will work on some RP things (and allow the addon system to support some mroe robust RP addons perhaps.)

I've seen a fair number of RPers in the lower level areas. Mostly in the inns, but I've seen a few RP walking out during quests. Because it's just not the same if your standard fetch quest doesn't take 30 minutes.

The ones in the inns are just... I dunno, they weird me out. They talk entirely in emotes. Obviously they emote in emotes, but actual chat is done through them too. And they have this weird thing where they end sentences with )).

/e wonders what that is all about))?

Hi, there! In the Community Creations section, we do have a section for sharing ESO Fiction and Roleplaying, which can be found here.

(Additionally, @Reiterpallasch‌, the (()) is typically used in RP to denote out of character comments. ^_^)

Thanks!!! I do think it would be good to have it more easily seen. Like when looking at the categories to the right here...have a category for RP so that everyone can see there is an RP section in the category list. I believe it would really be a boost to the Rp community to see it is supported and not have to go looking through several subforums (personally I would never have thought to look in the community creations section. But maybe I am a bit slow on that one! :) )

    RIP RP
When I saw the thread I misread it for RIP...

I'd try to find an RP guild if I were you, it would also mean that you can use guild chat to save the hassle of wondering who said what.

I came across a group RP'ing the other night at the Inn in Daggerfall. I just /sitchair across the room from them and watched and read the chat. It was pretty entertaining.

while RP'ing is more involved than I'd want it to be for myself (I just like doing the emotes, like /kneel before the king/queen, etc.) I'm glad it's there, it's fun to see players doing it.

but would a separate RP channel mean randoms (like me) would miss out on these?

Just to expand on this, the inns in Daggerfall, Wayrest, and (increasingly lately) Sentinel have quite a bit of random/"tavern"-style RP happening, especially since the latest Update.

As for your question, Joe, I wouldn't think it would have you miss out on these. Typically, an RP channel is used to co-ordinate and/or find RP in the world. Once the players get together, they tend to go on as before. And there will always be random RP in the taverns, so long as RPers exist in a game.

I'm not sure how the phasing and instancing would affect RP on the mega server.

Past MMO's I have been on have had "instances" you could switch between to find the RPers, but it wasn't perfect, by any stretch. If there was an actual "RP instance" to enter.. or "area(s)" set up for it, it would probably help.

Is there an in-game RP chat channel? I don't think people can make those, unless I am mistaken. What about guilds? Probably so.

Firstly, for something's sake... Restrain yourselves to form RP guilds!!

These tend to lead small circles of RP players, RP is done only within guild and so forth.

Ideqally there should be one big guild for roleplayers, people should be biy more relaxed with lore and so forth.

Walk nore, show that you care of immersion and roleplaying even alone, do random rp like begging in the streets or play some lute on taverns. Speak to random people.

Do not contain RP in major setlements, do it everywhere by being character, always :)

For RP, it helps to be part of a (more or less) organized group.

We had an impromptu gathering of the Naked Nords in Windhelm last night which lasted for well over an hour.

(()) usually means someone is talking out of character. meaning the player is talking at the time and not the character.

Though i've seen a bad habit of people of over using this. As talking too much out of character can really break the mood and feel of the Rp going on.

The best thing the devs can possibly do is allow players to freely switch to instances (as the devs refer to phases as a seperate thing) and at least dedicate on specifically for Rpers there is a much higher chance for people to actually be able to find each other. This instance wouldnt port you there automatically usually. But the more times you manually port to this instance, the game will start remembering and it will become a default instance for you. Porting you to this instance automatically whenever you zone.

At the moment, right now RP feels less natural than it really should be. Rp is a little easier to get to when theres tavern Rp. But I dont generally like tavern Rp, as it will get boring after a while to me. I perfer to Rp in, just playing the game in general, adventure Rp, as I'm IC all the time as it is.

Im pretty sure there was something about entire RP "Instance" for the megaserver. One that you choose when logging in. Much like RP server or Realm and so on. This would be good as we are scattered in many instances and i imagine it is hard to come by another RP player.

I think iy was actually peomised to come later, some pointt somewhere i read it was meant to be on lauch but i just dont remember well enough.

yeah I remember as this was the main thing I was excited about and stayed on the dev's case about.

it was the player survey people would fill out when making thier characters so the game could match them automatically to other people with similar playstyle but they had to drop the feature because it couldnt work and made the servers unstable.

But that still doesnt mean they cant make a dedicated instance for it. Which would also require people to have to manually pick that instance a few times to default to it.

Really? Every tavern I walk into has a group of roleplayers in it. (I enjoy spamming abilities in their midst if their RP isn't lore friendly or they're using ridiculous "thees" and "thous". Otherwise, I let them be)

I've actually seen a fair bit going on around lately. That's just random stuff, not including what I do myself with others. As others have said, joining a guild is the first way to go. But I know there are some people who aren't into locking themselves into some idea, or some culture, or whatever. There are umbrella guilds in each faction that are solely for keeping RPers together and broadcasting events. For instance, Ebonheart Roleplay, and Roleplayers Unlimited (I think that's what it's called).

All I was getting at is because its a mega server (which is awesome cause of the huge PvP battles) is RP is almost nonexistent. Yes you could go into taverns but as someone said before, it gets boring. I loved games where there were certain areas that were basically made for RP. It just seems that this game in the series of RPG's focused more on PvE and PvP and didn't really think about RP. Just my opinion.

Well, as a roleplayer, I have no problem with the way things are now. I can't speak for the NA server or the other alliances, but the EU Pact has good deal of roleplaying going on in it. Every evening without fail there will be someone roleplaying in the Nimalten/Geirmund's Hall/Ivarstead area, usually several people. Apparently a fair bit goes on in Narsis as well, but I rarely go there. I would recommend joining a roleplaying guild if you want to do something more exciting than mill about in a tavern, though (not that tavern roleplaying isn't fun). I'm fairly sure that on the EU server each alliance has a guild specifically for roleplayers to organise events that are open to the public (the Pact has the EP Roleplay Collective, at least) so it would make sense to seek out the guild like this that is relevant to your server & faction.

I always though tavern RP was a good way to break the ice with folks and to perhaps organize something more. Just like your character might do...and meet his band of merry gents and ladies...the RP can start there and spread out into the wider worlds.

It is good also for people new to RP as they have time to answer, reflect (and not worry about say trying to type and walk at the same time..always fun) and to see how others RP.

Ultimately though...the best RP is the RP that is anywhere and everywhere.

if I see some players doing it(which is not very much) I will just do /drink and blend in to the NPC crowd and watch them. Heck a few weeks ago, some players formed an ESO band, and went to riften and played the lute, drums, and flute. it was neat. I do wish stuff like this happened more often. Its a great way to change up game pace.
