Templar builds and Damage Shields

So I reached a 2.4k damage shield today against an Iron Orc mob in Craglorn, just thought you guys should know. Brawler with Blazing shield = OP, but I love it. This build basically give me a 3.5-4.5k health pool that regenerates faster than any player can heal. I recently swapped back to 2h from sword and board/Destro staff, and I don't think I'll ever look back. Mobs in Craglorn are now butter, besides the occasional Storm Atronach. Here's my setup, and so far it's working extremely well in AoE scenarios.

1) Brawler IV - Deals about 200 damage and leaves a bleed on anything it touches in front of me. 150 Point Damage shield for 6 seconds, increased by 100% per enemy hit. This move is responsible for half of my total shield, and since it costs so little (barely over 200 stamina), I can use it as much as I need to, and I generally do every time any shield wears off.

2) Executioner IV - Deals about 200 damage vs. a single target. Increased Damage up to 300% based on target's health loss. It's passive is really why I use it. 2h Weapon Abilities deal 18% more damage vs. targets lower than 25% health. It is my low health spam to finish something off.

3) Wrecking Blow IV - Deals 561 damage and stuns target for 3.5 seconds. Here's the kicker, the power of my next attack against the target is increased by 50. So I really just use this when there are only a couple enemies left and I need to cc one for a few seconds. It's also fun when you powerhouse an enemy off a ledge. GTFO

4) Puncturing Sweep IV - You all know why. It's a quad hitter, dealing 57 magic damage to anything in front of me, with the closest target taking 110% additional damage with a knockback at the end. Plus it heals me for 40% of damage dealth. I was rocking Breath of Life on my bar at all times for heals, but since changing to this build, puncturing is all I need with my shield spam capability.

5) Blazing Shield IV - It was good before Update 3, but now it's irreplaceable. Damage Shield for 6 seconds for 30% of max health (2086 health unbuffed) plus 4% for each enemy near. Here's the best part, 54% of damage taken while in the shield is returned to all enemies when the shield expires. Which is a LOT, especially if I hit one of those 1.2k shields. You do the math, 54% of 1.2k to 5 or more enemies in a mob.

Ultimate - My favorite Ultimate as of now is Empowering Sweep. Dealing 408 damage to all enemies within 5 meter radius. It costs 74 ultimate, making it basically spammable. It reduces damage taken by 15% for 8 seconds, plus 4% reduction for each enemy hit.

My sets are 5 Piece Hunding's rage for the weapon buffs, 3 set Way of Air for the Regen, and 3 set Warlock Jewelry with all magicka regen since 2 main skills cost a lot. I swapped to a full set of Medium gear (yes, all 7) from 5 Heavy, 1 Medium, 1 Light, 1h and Shield/All Light Destruction Staff. Neither of those 2 builds, which I tested and tested thoroughly, gave me the survivability that this setup has, and I don't even have an instant heal slotted anymore. It just isn't necessary.

tl;dr: Damage shields off the chain. I'm considering trying this setup as a medium armor, 2h tank, using the Undaunted taunt. So you should read the setup anyways.

Let me hear your Templar builds! Maybe there is something out there that I'm unaware of and want to try!

What do you use on your second weapon swap bar?
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

Well I tend to keep my Sword and Board in my second slot no matter what my main weapon is. It comes in handy because I can taunt something off of an ally using either magicka or stamina taunt. I generally use Puncturing Sweep for dps and added heals, Extended Ritual for support, and Breath of Life for "Oh S**t" healing. Also, I keep Remembrance Ultimate Slotted just in case.

    Cool build, OP. :)

I have been thinking about trying a dual wield build that focuses more on self-heals and passive mitigation. I have yet to actually put it together and try it, but here is the basic build I want to use:

    ACTIVES
Puncturing Sweep: heals for 40% of damage dealt.
Blood Craze: two hit attack with a bleed that gives a HoT for the bleed duration.
Degeneration: DoT with a HoT plus 15% chance to heal for 100% of physical damage caused.
Blazing Shield: obviously, it's just too good.

    ULTIMATE
Empowering Sweep: Reduces damage taken by 15% plus 4% for each target hit.

    PASSIVES
Rapid Mending (heavy armor): +6% healing received
Red Diamond (racial): Melee attacks have a 10% chance to restore health

    SET BONUSES
Vampire's Kiss: +4% healing received, max health boost, +10 health recovery
Twilight's Embrace: +10% healing received, max health boost

I would also consider using the weapon enchant that damages and heals (I forget what it's called).

I mostly think this build has potential because of all the passive bonus to healing received.

@Solariken Does Red Diamond include Weapon Abilities or just light/heavy attacks?

well if it worked for weapon abilities as well as heavy/light attacks, that would be a large bonus to healing. just curious

@Ridicularded‌ I don't know if it's reliable, but this is from the forums:

"Red Diamond does not proc off of spells or range abilities. It procs off of pretty much any melee based ability of 8m or less, including numerous class skills that fall into that 8 m or less category."

Also, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a cooldown.

I'm very content in VR Areas with my build:

7 Heavy Armor, 2h Sword, sets need to be redone since 3.3 and I havent decided yet. All jewelry with magicka cost reduction.

    1. Critical Rush - I've thought this over many times and I know it's useless in long fights, but I just can't give up the ability to charge.
    2. Reflective Light - Most mana efficient Templar damage ability and the snare is useful sometimes.
    3. Puncturing Sweep - This baby will keep me alive as long as I have magicka, while dealing decent damage.
    4. Wrecking Blow - Alternating this and Puncturing Sweep lets me solo CCable World bosses
    5. Executioner - Gotta have an execute. Useful against gargoyles/trolls/high hp enemies
    U. Solar Disturbance

I find that with this setup I don't need shields to survive, just magicka pots sometimes. I can also solo most public dungeons and world bosses.

2nd bar: S&B Tank setup for dungeons

    1. Shielded Assault - Same reason as Critical Rush
    2. Pierce Armor
    3. Puncturing Sweep
    4. Blazing Shield
    5. Purifying Ritual
    U. Empowering Sweep

This mostly leaves my stamina pool alone, so I can use as many blocks and interrupts as I need.

that's a pretty amazing passive for a templar, given they already have uber self healing capability.

@Springt, I've always wondered how useful Honor the Dead was. I've never really tested it. I've always been a Breath of Life sort of guy. My Magicka Regen has always been overcharged, so I never really need the extra regen.
