I venomously hate anything that is Purely luck based

The "General Executioner" achievement, i am only missing one of the generals but have been farming for many hours now...

any time something that is purely based on a % chance, and therefore luck i always get the short end of the stick... so i have come to violently hate these kind of things.

its always been like this... this one thing that took people i know less than a few hours, took me a week once... farming the same mob with a 15% drop chance on the item i wanted.... for a week straight...

on the oppsite side of the spectrum, things like the "Dodge 100 lightning bolts" challenge in FF10, i managed on the first try.... if no luck is involved i can always get it done.

these things always feel like the most cheap way to introduce "challenge" into any game..

    I'm not sure how else to make some achievements (documented in your journal, or not) meaningful. Would it be less annoying if General X spawned at X dolmen at 3pm every other Tuesday?

    how else do you make things rare in an mmo tho? only way would be making it uber hard and then even more people will start complaining. i know how it is with short end of the stick and then your friend gets something 1st go tho haha it sucks!

    I have to agree working on the general executioner achieve is sort of boring and excessively tedious unless you have good luck.

    Only real solution I could see though is if either vet dolmens had far less chance of a common wave occurring or if loot chests for completing an anchor drop had a chance to drop a sigil stone for the bosses, which if used before the boss spawn would force them to be the boss.

    yes, actually it would be less annoying that way...

    SWTOR has the bounty week.
    There are 4 minor bosses per planet (bounty) and 1 major boss per planet (Kingpin bounty).

    The minor bosses are randomly set for each planet at teh start of the week, so you get a good (1/4) chance to get them where others got them.
    The kingpins are fixed to planets (down to the voiceovers).

    So if you need a specific minor boss you get less then every planet to try and the chance is bigger then 1/total amount of bosses.
    You might still need some time, but the chances are better.

    But then again SWTOR does have fixed time for the daily and weekly reset (when daily and weekly counters/quests reset).
    Not sure ESO has anything like that.

    got the stupid slave masters finally, completing the achievement..

    i still hate anything RNG. i get so pissed off that even if i do manage to get lucky, there is no joy, just more anger about how long it took.

    Every MMO has a RNG, it takes the place of an obvious clock on the wall stating clearly they designed this to take X hours on average, with a plus or minus of Y hours.

    That's all this is really, you are running into game design head on.

    It's intended to be an event, albeit, not a scheduled one.

    If they spawned like normal bosses do, there would always be a crowd there waiting to mow them down.

    As it is, it's an interesting extra when you hear the introduction.

    Helps make it noteworthy, which is part of the point. Otherwise, they wouldn't be called Achievements, now would they?
    Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

    Probably has checkbox on Customer Service profile that say High Aggro, 99% immunity to BS
