Help me understand, honestly

I know i was not gifted in the brains department, so if someone could elucidate?

1) pre-launch, all these announcements about the import of crafting

1- a) only nothing is BoP, better to sell your mats and buy that one piece you want..those tens of thousands of mats you sold (rather than using them to level) will leave you the piece, and a fortune to spare

2) pre-launch, and tied to the import of the importance of the utterly important importance of crafting, NO Auction House, because Megaserver and import of crafting, can't have golds flooding (see /general right now. NO golds flooding. Absolutely)

3) post-launch, Zenimax recommends, recommends, the use of an external Auction House service! They even link it! In contrast to the above!

4) post-launch, and following the above chronologically, guild stores are introduced.

5) said stores act exactly like the previous stores. Which were already present, all one had to do was visit a bank. Redundancy excused (or not), one also has to pay money to hire said additional stores. Even though afore mentioned "services" were already available to those very same members.

Anyone following all this and finding it logical? I am honestly perplexed..

And anyway, excluding points 1-4, since you go ahead and add those stores anyway, why not make them mini-AHs? Guild AHs..i want to see what Guild X sells, i try find a Guild X store. Guild Y has that amazing weaponsmith, i seek a Guild Y store to look through their wares? Wouldn't that be more reasonable?

What am i missing, honest..

Not sure I can address everything, but here goes:
    1) Crafted gear is better than bought/dropped gear.
    2) Don't think that was a question...
    3) Where have they recommended an external auction house?
    4) Guild Traders were introduced, Guild Stores already existed.
    5) The difference between the Guild Traders and the access to the Guild Store at a banker is that everyone can access the Guild Store from the Traders. Including non-members. You are paying for the privilege of opening your guild store to everyone. So essentially they are mini-AHs, as per your final point.

Umm... did you not get the part about the stores being available to the public? I don't know how much use it will be, but it most certainly is not "exactly like the previous stores". As for your other points, I don't really have an opinion. Buying and selling is not really important to me in this game.

no, i didn't get that part, i wasn't being ironic, i explained why i didn't get it, and asked :)

Had asked in /general too, was told it was for guild members alone, which seemed to be the case as each and every store i visited was blank for me.
Hence the question..thank you for clarifying that much at least :)

to the guy above asking when did they recommend, google it and find out

the thing is, lol, might be just me, but..
someone just told me it showed blank because i had to use the filters first.
i.e. i managed to confuse my own self.

Only, if something shows blank with "show everything" highlighted, why would i think of trying to use a filter? :S

    another example of confusion:
sometimes /whisper worked, sometimes/ tell, sometimes it got the name wrongly..
like i type /whisper Aenra hello there and it thinks the name is "Aenra Hello" and what i see is: Tell "aenra Hello" there

    yet another example:
    (of which i still need a reply,lol)
some skills say "heals allies", but they also heal me
some skills say "heals allies", and they only heal allies

    and one more example:
    some skills are magicka/spell based
but are affected with weapon crit

could go on and on, but you get the gist..sometimes, am honestly baffled :)
anyway, my thanks once more for clarifying this, really.

gave you a 'lol' for that :)

it's off the topic entirely yeah, but, well, since i made an ass of myself, i may as well at least explain why (assuming anyone reads this, but anyway) ^^

I like the idea of open trading market, where no one can in other terms own the AH with there wal-mart prices that leave the small business man in the cold so to speak. When I played wow I was constantly having to change my prices to compensate for the ass that decided to trump my price sometimes by half lol. of course it comes with the territory but, the way you have it now, if you don't like the prices you see you can go somewhere else, and not have your only option being an AH. cheers!

I have never purchased any armor or weapons in the game. When I did not know any crafting, it was all drops, once I learned Crafting, it is all made by me. Now that I have enough traits researched, it is Set Crafting. I have yet to come across any drops in game that are better than the gear I make, even when the drops are 2 to 4 levels higher than what I am wearing.

Crafted gear is the bomb in this game. Purchased gear is for suckers*, use Dropped Gear if you can't make it or afford to pay someone to craft it for you.

*OK, every once in a while you have to buy something but that is rare and it is easy to level past your enchanting skills so those seem to be behind the curve.

Yeah the first few times I used the guild store I thought it was empty too. Took me a long while to get the filter part. The third party AH is actually more a site that tracks what things go for, allows people to post WTB/WTS like they do in the zone chat. It's a good place to get a price check so I can under cut. (That right there that I'm doing is one of the things that would hurt most sellers in the long run if there was a global AH.). Finally the traders for hire are awesome, as they are available to the public.

The best way I can figure is

They want crafting to be viable so that if your not into raiding you can still have amazing gear. Also by having top end gear be craftable they where hoping it would cut down on the elitism of having to be the absolute best raider ever in every group because the other people raiding have already done the same dungeon a million times trying to get that gear. (Stick and skirt build prevent this but its a lot better than some other games.)

Then by not having an auction house they where hoping to keep the economy stable which it fairly is. Mats and items tend to stick around the same price since launch, some have gone down some up but its not enough of a flux to call it screwed (Others will have you believe differently).

Zenimax does see the importance of having an Auction House so you can sell to the most amount of players but probably knew the Bot problem was going to be huge and did not want all markets so flooded that your super rare mats are worthless.

Now that the bot problem is under control and by in large are done they can slowly implement AH like systems hence why we have the new guild traders. Now you can trade to a much larger playerbase without being undercut into the ground.

That's just how I personally see it.

There are a few AH type structures out right now and more to come. We have guild traders. You can sell at keeps you own. And new to come will be the ones in cyridil sry if i spelt that wrong lol.
There are and will be plenty of ways to sell items with out a AH.
Which as stated would probably kill the market.
As of right now the way they are taking it, things should be just fine.
