Will spellcrafting leave out Stamina builds?

This is both a question and a suggestion. I am curious if there has been any news on whether spell crafting will always require Magicka to use. Since it involved the Mages Guild I have to make the assumption that it will. If that is so, then i have to make a few suggestions. I hope that some others here can come up with good ideas or possible explanations for how it will still be very useful for Stamina users. I simply am not sure if stamina users need even more of a reason to go over to the Magicka spells.

1) Make some of the spells you craft simply require stamina (I know this is highly unlikely)

2) Make sure some of the spells may require Magicka, but have them work similar to the Sorcerer pets. When you cast it, you lose X% of Magicka but you gain a benefit that will overlap with your Stamina skills. So sure, it still costs magicka to cast but overall it is useful for a Stamina build.

3) While we are crafting spells, allow us a way to change the resource that the spell will use.

4) While we are crafting spells, allow us the ability to change the spells to help with Stamina regen.

This all being said, I am extremely excited for spell crafting. I just hope that it is not a Magicka users dream while Stamina users will simply feel it is mediocre.

We've had some threads about this before.. look at http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/121062/spell-crafting-another-kick-in-the-teeth-to-stamina-builds

    my reply there was:
Right now most magicka based things in game are damaged based skills. The new Spellcrafting system will introduce more of those of course... but more importantly, the addition of sorely lacking utility based skills/spells will benefit a wide variety of builds, magicka and stamina based alike. Indeed, some of the spells will help you counter magicka users. Let's use the traditional ES magic spells the new system is based on as an example:
    • Demoralize: Fear.. self explanatory
    • Restore Stamina: Self explanatory
    • Muffle: Improve Stealth
    • Camouflage: Improve Stealth
    • Stun: Crowd Control
    • Dispel: Remove DoT, Debuff
    • Oakflesh: Armor/Damage shield
    • Fire/Lightning/Ice Shield: Protect vs. Mages
    • Reflect: Protect vs. Mages
    • Absorb Health/Stam/Magicka: self explanatory
    • Conjure [whatever]: Summoned companion to help add DPS

    Go here for more: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Magic

Also, don't forget that it will let you craft new Ultimates out of any of the possibilities, which will use whichever is higher, stamina or magicka.

Look past the fact that it's "spell crafting" and it's easy to see this will be a boon to any player out there.

how about a simple spell that allows us to expend magicka in sprinting, dodging or cc breaks?

The simplest way to resolve this is when crafting new "spells" with spellcrafting to allow you to select whether they are Magicka or Stamina based.

There might be a skill to converts magicka to stamina or that helps in some other way? Let's hope so.

Still think those utility spells will be usable for everyone. It's not as if medium armour/weapon skill users aren't slotting a single skill that consumes magicka.
Same reason light armour users might slot a skill that consumes stamina. We need to take advantage of both resources, if we want optimized builds.

Something to think about: Most stamina based abilities are tied to specific weapons. Only Alliance, Werewolf (lol), Armour and Fighters guild offers stamina dumps for light/staff armour users. It's very restricting, might even call ineffective, considering and you always have loads of unused stamina. With more unrestricted stamina abilities, light armour/staff users will be significantly stronger.

I'm starting to think that maybe the focus on stamina and melee is not the right thing to be focused on. Maybe since Zos is so keen on nerfs (compared to buffs) we should be looking at how to gimp the other stuff like staffs and light armor.

Is it a fair hypothesis that any skills that come with Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood be stamina based?

First off, to those whining about the spellcrafting system leaving out stamina, I must ask did you even watch the announcement for this, or are you just going what others have said or whined about in other threads, because if you did watch the quakecon announcement WATCH IT AGAIN. They very plainly state that the spellcraft system will be magicka based ONLY. HOWEVER, they are looking into a system for stamina users as well. It was stated in the video clear as day. Next time dont watch the cliffnotes version.

As for the person above asking about magicka to stamina, they did state as well that there would be a spell that will allow conversion of magicka to stamina

More options for decent stamina type builds is absolutely a good thing. They should match magika based, imho, so it isn't Elderstaves-and-Robes Online. ;)

Worst case scenario is that you are able to create new Ultimate's. Since Ultimate's scale from either resource now, Spell Crafting will indeed help Stamina builds even if in a small capacity. They also confirmed a Magicka to Stamina conversion spell. That's all we know of.
