Didn't they make it so you can get stuff from any guild store? I was hoping to get some new gear but don't see any difference.

Guilds have to bid on a store location in order to be able to sell their stuff there.

I've seen the merchant stations in cities after the update but i'm not sure how long the bidding will take.

It might be a few days before we see any inventory at those hired merchants ...

The Guild Stores for the ones you already belong to and access through the Bank have not changed.

For the others, a Guild that has purchased a spot at a Guild Trader location is now available to anyone that comes to that location.

That being said, there are 'good' Guild Trader locations and 'Not-So-Good' ones. Trick is to find where the current good ones are.

Note that the Guild at any particular location is likely to change as getting a spot for a guild and keeping it are not likely. Unless ZOS changes the way Guild Trader location acquisition works.

Something is horribly wrong as all traders are already taken by guilds...what happened to the week long bid process?

And then there's the inventory... literally tens of items...

I just went through this last night.

If a guild trader currently has no guild store, you can hire that trader immediately for your guild. That's why we saw the guild traders with inventory right after the update.

Once a trader has a guild store, you can bid to have your guild get the trader. Supposedly, bids are evaluated once a week and the trader goes to the highest bidder.

This actually worked out pretty well. I was late to the game (west coast plus long work days), so by the time i got to look for a guild trader all the good ones were already taken.
I finally found one in a more obscure location that was still looking for a guild so i hired her.

Even in that remote location, within the first 15 minutes, we had made 20+ sales already.
    :)
