Is there any Solo VR1 content?

la_frankie_ESO
Other than Caldwell's questline -- since I played alts to 30ish during my main character's ascent to VR1, these old quests have virtually no appeal to me.

I just hit VR1 on my main last week and I have no clue where to go, or what to do next as a solo player.

I went to Craglorn and grabbed a few quests but they hint at getting a group before leaving town so I assume all of Craglorn is group content.

I don't PvP unfortunately, so what is left for me to do other than 1. repeating older quests in overworld zones that I did on my alts, or 2. force grouping in Craglorn?

I'm not being sarcastic, I am seriously at a loss when I login -- what do I do now?

you can solo most of the VR content nowadays. they nerfed it a good bit. if you cant do the VR content, for whatever reason, all you can do is go to grindlorn and grind it out. you have to do most of the dungeons, world bosses, dolmens, and quests in a VR zone, to go up a rank. its a little slow. if you don't enjoy questing, then you wont enjoy vet content.
  • la_frankie_ESO
I love questing, but I am not thrilled about repeating quests I did on my alt. That is what you're talking about right? Craglorn quests seem to be majorly group content.

Public dungeons is one source of solo content, if you like never ending grinding for stuff, I know the quest lines might be dull for going through cadwells gold if done it before... but it is still solo content, if good at what you do, you can bash dolmens and world bosses as well solo.

only solo content for vr1 is going to the next faction and start doing quest/grind/delves/dolmens/world bosses there.

Pretty much you got it. You'll be redoing the quests, only at a harder level.

there is "ok" stuff. you wont be getting any epics or legendries. just crappy fine gear. oh, and craglorn is 99% group only. I managed to do half of ONE quest, solo. most people just go there to grind(why I call it grindlorn)
  • la_frankie_ESO
Well, I tried to join a grind group today just to see what it was all about and was not accepted as a VR1 dps. :( Back to Auridon, maybe I'll have better luck with Vet Dungeons once guilds are back online.

3 days left on my subscription coincidentally. I'm feeling as though the forced grouping may not be for me. But ESO is such a beautiful game.

I know if you do anoms they accept vr 1 sometimes burials will also. Towers usually won't let a vr 1 join up to grind. Depends on how busy the place is as well. If there are a lot of people to join groups you may be low man on the totem pole for being asked to join. The later it gets on a week night at least it starts to open up a bit. Fewer people to join and many calling it a night means room in groups. Just try to be patient.

My advice would be to play a character for each class and alliance from 1 to 50 and then hold off for new content, assuming you don't want to group "competitively" or PvP. In the meantime there are plenty of better ways of spending your time than waiting for groups that don't want you!

I had rolled a few alts on different factions and when I reached Vet on my main had to do the same quests again so I've stopped playing my alts and re-rolled them all on the Pact. It's a bit of a pain but I've got to the point where I'm almost questing with my eyes closed.

I hope you don't get too disheartened at having to do the same content over again but tbh, that's MMOs and alts for you! :D

As a VR1 (DK Tank) I went out to Craglorn. I had no trouble killing small groups, 2-3, that were VR11. The XP is good, and you can also gather while you explore. A nice way to break up the questing if you just want to grind a bit of XP.

Whether you like playing on only one character and doing all three factions as is currently designed, or whether you prefer making alts as some do - this subject is not something in place in all subscription MMO's.

You say that as if its inherent in MMO's -- its definitely not. Generally it is the players who CHOOSE to replay content as they enjoy creating alts. Other subbed MMO's I've played in all these years didn't MAKE me redo content as part of the actual progression content. So this is uniquely TESO by design and should not attributed to MMOs in general I'd say.

1 Day remaining. I couldn't even force myself to login yesterday. As someone else suggested, maybe time to let the sub. expire.

Sounds like you're not having fun, in which case unsub.

Here's what I enjoy doing when I'm not PvP'ing (basically playing the game solo)
    • Collecting Alchemy mats to make stacks of potions to sell for profit (or provide to guild mates)
    • Help guild mates / players in zone chat looking for help/assistance.
    • Review achievements associated to dyes and tackle those. Currently I'm trying to get the general executioner to have access to that red dye.
    • Testing out different stam builds/abilities. Switched from Bow to DW main until the bow crap gets sorted out. Do this in my PvP downtime so I'm ready to go in PvP
    • Farm motifs/motif stones to make a little extra $$$ on the side
    • Currently I'm in Craiglorn A TON buying all of the BoE gear that I want before they fix the bug. I'll most likely never get around to doing enough trial runs to get any full set of gear so I'm focusing a ton buying stuff from guilds/friends/WTS in zone chat
    • AD quest/exploration content - I've fully completed EP/DC and I plan on doing AD, I still enjoy the thrill of exploring the lands just checking things out high and low.

For me the non-PvP stuff I do is to support my play-style of PvP'ing with the guild I'm in. We all get on TS and enjoy casual talking/banter while we kill some DC/AD players in Thornblade. Just last night we had a blast stealing resources from DC at Roebeck just to kill players wandering to and from that keep.

If you have nothing keeping you in the game - be it friends, exploration or even economy (what economy, ikr) - then yes you should re-evaluate why you are here and consider moving on to something else.

You don't mention any guild/friends so it sounds like your game is very stale at the moment. If you want to join a guild PM me and I'll let you know what I'm in and you can see if any interest you.

@Phen0meenal‌ I don't hate, no one should. Basically right now all BoP (Bind on Pick-up) have been set as BoE (Bind on Equip). This means items that were only obtainable by completing the quest or killing a certain mob (such as trials) by yourself are now obtainable by purchasing them from other players. So for instance I finally finished obtaining the two-fanged snake set (two rings and one necklace) that I would have otherwise had to run trials for a LONG period of time.

Lots of stuff is up for sale in the newly introduced Guild Traders, so I strongly encourage you to check them out  If you still need additional assistance PM me and I'll send you my in-game name where you can contact me in-game.
