I was extremely excited to hear about guilds getting some love with this latest update, one of the more exciting aspects was the ability for players to wear guild insignia via tabbards. After logging in and working with the system I have a few feedback comments.
Positives
I think the tabbards look really nice, the level of customization is great. As far as appearance and being able to represent my guild goes I couldn't be happier.
Negatives
The initial cost to create a tabbard, while expensive, made sense to me. What bothers me is that after footing the cost for the creation of a tabbard, I then still had to pay an additional 2k gold just to buy it. Even then I could justify it, but when none of that expense came back to guild I was highly disappointed. Selling tabbards would have been the perfect way for a guild to contribute to the cause of trying to rent a vendor stall or provide a common pool fund that can be used for helping guildies get horses, or other costs. I don't want to compel my guildmates to put their own money into the guild bank and tabbards were a perfect way to start a seed fund that would then be added to via taxes from the guild store.
I don't know if this was devised as a means to pull gold out of the economy or what but I couldn't be more disappointed in how it was handled. bidding on guild stalls and the such seems a perfectly reasonable way to pull gold out of the economy, but at least give us a cut of the tabbard costs so that we can use that gold for the betterment of our guilds.
